In my case, I decided to use the stock bellhousing with a tailored bellhousing blanket from these folks: http://exoticmuscle.com/catquery.php...L=SAFETY#F6800 (scroll down, second from bottom). The blanket is probably not technically NHRA legal, nor is it probably as absolutely safe as an SFI bell, but it's certainly safer than nothing and has the additional advantages of much lower weight and no exhaust clearance issues ... |
The motor is completely finished and set in the car, ready to fire. Working on the power steering, Hydroboost, and fuel system plumbing. I have the computer, harness, radiator hoses, etc, everything I need to fire it up. It won't be long now, but I doubt I'll push to fire it before Power Tour. I'm pretty stoked, had to share a few pics. :)

 that is awesome. great job on it. Nice MAF you have there.;)
|
Very cool. :hail:
|
Looks awesome. Is that Stenod's intake tube?
|
Looks killer!! Good to see progress!!
What are you doing to vent the motor? Can something other than valve cover vents/fittings be done?? |
Nice work Scott:thumbsup:
|
Jim, I fab'd the intake plumbing with 4" mandrel bend steel. I spray bombed it satin to see if I wanted to go that route or possibly silver. After seeing it in satin, I'll have a friend of mine do a little body work to it and spray it.
Tony, there's a breather in the valve cover that will be plumbed to the remote breather/separator tank. |
Looks great Scott!
The welds on the dry sump system look sweet too! |

that really looks good Scott, very impressive!

Does look very impressive Scott. Can't wait till it's done. Are you planning on powdercoating that subframe? Or is that going to be done when the car is painted down the road?
|
Thanks. :)
I'm up in the air on the subframe. I haven't decided on either powdercoating it or having it painted black with a satin clear. |
As alway's Scott. simply stunning!!:woot:

mmmm... that's nice!! Kick as work scott... can't wait to see that car run... maybe a go for a ride too  :woot:
|
its a lot easier to touch up paint. If you chip pwder coat there is no going back. What are the deminsions on the patterson dry sump tank and what is the capacity?
|
Thanks Joe.
That's a very good point, Travis. As for dimensions, the tank is 6" x 20" with an 8 quart capacity. Peterson can make them in 6", 7" and 9" diameters in about any capacity that you want, as well as any bung configuration. ATS is a dealer for Peterson, he can give you all the options. |
Awsome evrything blends in well LS7 is amazing :hail:

Looks great Scott!

No, no preheater. I didn't figure I was going to be in pit lane waiting to make a qualifying pass with the motor. :D
|
Looking great Scott ! Must be a nice feeling to be that close to finshing and driving that baby. Fire It UP !!! (Tuttle SR...)
Congrats !! |
no preheater here also. Just let it idle a few minutes, then < 3k RPMs until operating temp.
|
  :unibrow: :lateral: :woot:
|
Scott, are you going to drive it around the hood before tearing it down for paint? Have fun in Camaro X...it's just about time!!! :)
|
Did Andrew build a fire under you, some very quick and nice work for sure!
|
I got the complete fuel system built and in the car last night. I put a few gallons of gas in it and set fuel pressure. Getting sooo close... if I wasn't leaving for the Power Tour, I'd have it running this weekend.
I was going to roll the car outside tonight and get some better shots of the engine compartment, but it never stopped raining. Maybe tomorrow evening. :) |
Rain!?! It's sunny and 90* here....I though we got all the rain!? ;)
I want to hear it!! vid vid vid!! |
