2nd Chance Camaro - BFG 295's on the Rear
2012 09-22 Update - BFG 295's on the Rear www.2ndchancecamaro.com Evening all, Picking the right tires for your car is important, it can make or break the final look . As much as I like the big tire look out back it just doesn't fit with the plan for this car. The goal is to have something that looks very classy and timeless. So the ideal size for this project would be somewhere around 12" wide. Remember timeless is the goal for this car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...135a680-me.jpg What was funny is I asked everyday people what they thought of the tire combo on this car while it was sitting in my garage and everyone said the same thing. Looks Perfect !! Not to big, not to small just like the perfect bowl of porridge - Just Right http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6ff04a8-me.jpg Some of the cool tools that I have laying around from the Syborg TT project is the Wheel Mate. It sure makes test fitting tires easy !! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4dcd0fd-me.jpg You can see that there is plenty of clearance using the stock rear spring perches. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...46671c0-me.jpg Quick look from the rear and you can there is plenty of tire out back. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...08dda8c-me.jpg Pictures hosted by www.garagescene.net |
2nd Chance Camaro - Billet Specialties Mag G Wheels
2012 09-22 Update - Billet Specialties Mag G Wheels www.2ndchancecamaro.com Evening all, Scott from Billet Specialties was kind enough to come over and confirm the backspacing. He also dropped off the test rims to make sure everything fit as we hoped. Using the stick you can confirm tire clearance when the suspension run's through it's travel. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fe2749a-me.jpg If your spin the rim you can check for other clearance issue's. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1361ccf-me.jpg The 2 1/2" on the stick shows upward travel for the rear suspension. You need to make sure that when the tire goes up it doesn't connect with the inner wheel tubs. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d2adb05-me.jpg Picture of the rim just after it was finished at Billet Specialties. I can't wait to pick them up and fit them on the car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3533257-me.jpg The finished wheel mounted on the car. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7d44e58-me.jpg Pictures hosted by www.garagescene.net |

2nd Chance Camaro - GTO Rollers
2012 09-23 Update - GTO Rollers www.2ndchancecamaro.com Morning all, Now that the wheels have been chosen it's time to find a set of mock up wheels that will clear the Kore3 brakes. Chad Fletcher told me about the GTO spares and I was lucky enough to find a few of them. One for the car as a spare and apparently four of them for Kenny. He told me that I would not be getting them back as he needed them more then I do. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8150715-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c4fc7f3-me.jpg Pictures hosted by www.garagescene.net |
Looking good Marty! I do have to laugh though. I didn't realize 12" rear tires are now considered nothing too wide. I love BFG KDW tires. So aggressive looking and they work so well. Good choice on the rims.
