1. Put the Food TV travel page in your favorites on your phone and follow Guys advice on Dinners, drive Inns and Dives; he is pretty right on. 2. Stop at any local craft brewery that posts a closing time that ends in "ish" 3. Use Aron's brewery app it's another winner. 4. Don't plan things out to much they always come out different. 5. Don't worry if your plans seem to fall apart, just reboot and make a new plan; and keep moving. 6. Never comply with the No Parking signs if you are only going to be away from your vehicle for less than 15 min. If you do it will slow you down and you will miss too much. (the exception is the blue handicapped parking spots; If you park in those you are a dick and deserve to be towed) 7. Never pass up a Maple Bacon glazed Doughnut fresh out of the oven. 8. Don't order Lamb fries they suck, no really they do, don't. 9. Spend the extra time to show your friends ALL the features on their phones. Like how to disable the audio alert for some people and display only the last post of each txt string so they don't feel like you are monopolizing their important phone. Quote:

Rob, your post #5 should be my life verse.
Great write up. Loved watching it. I fell in love with road trips last year when i did my "first" ever.....i like the journey just as much if not more than the destination....(specially when your listening to "on through the nite").... |

Ok some final numbers: 17 states traveled 40 gas stops 553.98 gallons (give or 4 gallons of spillage) 3928 miles Overall MPG = 7.09 2 Lateral-G member host families (thanks Payton and Ron) 1 FE Forum host family (Blair would not let us stay more than 2 hours understandably) 1 Ford truck rescued from the Northeast 1 Camaro brought back to its owner to get sucked into a 5 year project :secret: Chevrolet: 1 Ford: 1 Rob and myself: 1 The rest of the world: Zero :trophy-1302: A few more pics from my camera: Can't not post another pic of Ron's ultra bad ass Mustang... Ron, I just can't believe I didn't take 10 minutes and force you to give me a ride in her :bang: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps05f85189.jpg Payton and Ron will surely remember this bridge :D http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps1224668c.jpg Betsy valets herself up front thankyouverymuch http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps20682948.jpg So, as I sit back in our unfriendly over-Democratic gun-controlling home state and reflect, I come up with many thoughts and personal conclusions. (pardon the cliches) Seasons are something to be appreciated and hated at the same time. For everyone that loves California weather, it is stale and boring often. People are just so dang nice everywhere else. Not that most aren't in Calif, but it sure seems others elsewhere take it up a notch. Restored a little faith in humanity for me personally. Just a little bit anyway. :) The women in our lives will never understand the brotherhood. Might as well not waste any time trying to explain it either. Just tell them a complete stranger is coming over to use whatever they need and they are going to crash in the spare bedroom. Nothing more to say. A trip should not only be about the destination(s) but about the journey and the struggles within. You can never text too much on a road trip. Well, except for that one guy. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psb406ead9.png Oh and because the movement that brought us all together here (the Lateral G movement, that is) we must share our GoPro video of corner carving with the truck. Unfortunately it is at night but I can tell you Betsy performed admirably and by taking out the Mustang in the chicane... well, what more can you say. I won't comment on speeds reached on this road (Rob knew the road, I did not). Let it eat. Soundtrack by Metallica. And Rob, even though you're a Ford guy with a Chevy complex, you were a top notch wingman. (Queue the bromance commentary from Todd ) :rockin: |
