Thank you for the compliment! I hope I can do it justice and achieve what I am picturing. I want to do a lot, but it will also be a budget build. I’m going to have to work more OT at the Fire Department for sure! |

Vintage Air Hose Routing ( 03-06-22 )
It's getting closer day by day by day.
Today's project is to figure out how I plan to run the coolant and AC lines. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f58f9dd-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6b59a13-me.jpg Training this line so it lays better in the inner fender. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...96920fb-me.jpg Hiding the switch behind the battery. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...eae6e76-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c723b80-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ac583f9-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6924a60-me.jpg Plenty of clearance http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fd6a680-me.jpg |
Battery Wiring Clean Up ( 03-06-22 )
Seriously I am getting really good at taking this car apart. Once again I am taking the positive off the mock up battery.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1f39258-me.jpg I slipped over some heat shrink that I will eventually heat up once every thing is complete in this area. If all works out like I plan it may look really cool or it will be a total disaster. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7629750-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7081817-me.jpg I need to lengthen the indicator wiring as I am routing them so they can't be seen through the grill. The good news I have extra wire so this will be a simple task. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5505db1-me.jpg Animal crackers just because I was hungry and I found them in the cabinet. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f5f50d2-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...df8a5fa-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6e94d9b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9b081c8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5721b91-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...79ff0ab-me.jpg |
Cooking my Heater Hoses ( 03-07-22 )
Since they were wound up in a tight circle and I was tired of fighting them. I hung them and turned up my Forced Air Heater and warmed them up for a couple hours. The good news it worked and they un-curled quite nice.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c89fb90-me.jpg Since I am not painting the radiator for this version of the car. I decided I was going to smooth out these scratches. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4ac7c70-me.jpg couples minutes later. Success ! http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6c3e472-me.jpg |
Looking really good !!!

Anvil Inner Fenders ( 03-18-22 )
I need to install the Anvil Inner fenders to make sure the vintage air lines wouldn't be in the way of the battery cables.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fd6a930-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f2a1f12-me.jpg Yep, they are. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2f4e54e-me.jpg I forgot who suggest this but I did ground the radiator http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...78211af-me.jpg Working on the last Vintage Air line. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9edc638-me.jpg This is me trying to get the some of the memory out of the line. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7a7873e-me.jpg I hope this is the last fitting I buy. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5d33b57-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2b809d9-me.jpg I need to install a small strip of cork behind this as it bounces off the core support while I am driving. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bc5c02b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4c172f9-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...092d303-me.jpg All better http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4d75fd1-me.jpg Remember these as I will be using these later in the build. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0274b12-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ab67720-me.jpg Since I don't like metal on metal I purchased this Bib Gaskets. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d3037c1-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fa2bb04-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fa2bb04-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6fc5e71-me.jpg |
It's coming along nicely Marty! I like how you mounted the drier. I am not really liking how VA has the drier mounted to the condenser. I may the same as you so it's a bit more solid. My issue will be crimping all the fittings.
Your attention to detail is a discipline. That's for sure. The rubber ducky is a nice touch as well. |
Great attention to detail as usual. If that drier has been unsealed for any appreciable length of time it should probably be replaced.

Fuel Vent Bracket (03-20-22)
The bend looks perfect
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...66266bc-me.jpg I originally made the fuel vent bracket using some cheap thin steel. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0dca240-me.jpg Test fitting to make sure it works. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7182326-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a3b8119-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d7e46a4-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7bca14b-me.jpg Time to make it out of thicker Steel http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fa394f8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...58d2ffe-me.jpg Just a little bit more. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e8948d5-me.jpg Comparing it to the mock up. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...441f34a-me.jpg |
DEI Fuel Line Wrap (03-23-22)
Since I am content as to where I ran the fuel line it's time for me to install the DEI Fuel Line Wrap and tape off the ends with there really strechy tape. Yes, I know stretch isn't a word.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f3f57e4-me.jpg You can barely see that the right side is taped. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...54fa873-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b89cd98-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1cb804d-me.jpg Ron Wilson was kind enough to send me this firewall plug so I can block off the E-brake cable hole. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...68b8ff3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...965428d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...93cad0c-me.jpg I filled the back with sealant which allowed me to install this by myself. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...253173a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b401d14-me.jpg My OCD wouldn't allow me to drop off the bracket till I rounded the corners. So I pulled out my bench grinder and completed the task. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...65b8b55-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...beb335a-me.jpg No it's not an illusion the holes are not parallel. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...76178b3-me.jpg I also received these very nice Billet headlight switch knobs which I will be sending out to get anodized http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b86cc1d-me.jpg |
Passenger Side Fender is coming home ( 03-24-22 )
( 03-24-22 ) I am finally bringing the passenger side fender home.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...836d712-me.jpg Thankfully I labeled every bag. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e8bae75-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4ba8748-me.jpg Me and ARP are really good friends. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3658317-me.jpg (03-25-22) Here goes nothing http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a73b472-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cfbd235-me.jpg (03-26-22) Opps, I forgot to install the blower motor close out panels so off to Eastwood. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ac877c8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a430f56-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e1c4e99-me.jpg The originally DSE Closeout panel which I am not using has 5/16'' slots and the new one does not !!!! (( insert a ton of profanities here-)) http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b085d4c-me.jpg So this sucks !!! Apparently on the new panel I received from DSE the slots are way smaller and of course I already have 5/16 nutserts in the firewall and of course the panel is painted. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c39dbcd-me.jpg Luckily one hole lined up and I was able to locate all of the area's that need to be opened up. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...64cb5de-me.jpg I spent about an hour filing and test fitting. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e746aa7-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e9e07dd-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c52bdea-me.jpg Getting closer. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...57093be-me.jpg A little touch up paint. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...75257b7-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...05d33b6-me.jpg A few feet of strip caulk. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9ae8d38-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ff4352b-me.jpg Since four of the bolts are not visible I didn't use ARP bolts. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...bf3a958-me.jpg Fender is going back in hibernation since I want to tighten the bolts one more time before I install the fender. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8d06ea7-me.jpg |
Passenger Fender is finally going on. Thank you Mike ( 03-27-22))
Well, it looks like this week we are going to install the passenger fender. Even if Remy says no !
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...04e6aa6-me.jpg Here goes nothing ( 03-29-22 ) http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d725bf3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4b1603f-me.jpg After a little bit of work Mike I got it close. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d33bb15-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0080b68-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8f4cc6d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a3256e4-me.jpg |
Steering Shaft Install ( 04-01-22 )
One of my daughters friends brother likes working on cars so he offered to help. So we started working on all the projects that require having a second set of hands.
The first project we worked on was the steering column & steering shaft. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...11fc8ac-me.jpg Apparently Remy likes him. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4e01d9b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1ddc24e-me.jpg |
Vintage Air Mag Daddy Magnets (04-02-22)
Moving on to the next project.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c2e9ad9-me.jpg Because of my day job I learned about the Mag Daddy Magnets and how useful they can be. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fc367f3-me.jpg You can barely see them in the picture but they are holding up the wires and you can still move them around till you figure out the final layout. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f642f48-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...61b4bd8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4cf78ab-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c0be3cc-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...afb7aa5-me.jpg |
Wilson Muscle Car Optima Battery Tray (04-06-22)
I re-installed the WMC Optima Battery tray so I could work on the wiring going to the Battery.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cffe1d6-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4d8a1b3-me.jpg This is the support rod that is used when you are using the Anvil Carbon inner fenders. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3decceb-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b4b3276-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...fb1ee6a-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6fac904-me.jpg |
Battery wiring (04-10-22)
Before I started working on the battery terminal wiring I need to run to the auto parts store.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6948da6-me.jpg On my way home I stopped at McDonalds for a McFlurry. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4ff7e72-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d2c367d-me.jpg Since wires tend to have strong memory so I made sure the ring terminal was on in the correct orientation. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...16514bd-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0ffd665-me.jpg I am still amazed at the amount of tools used on every project. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9d20c16-me.jpg |
Finally found the DSE Wiper wiring Diagram (04-10-22)
Well, I am certain everyone has lost instruction for something. This time I lost the instruction for the DSE Wiper wiring
harness and no one at DSE could find a copy of it for me as it was there Gen I kit. After weeks of searching I finally found it so today is the day that I will finish that project. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...b586597-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4707a8b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...6afb952-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ee9f5e4-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...698afc1-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3a2ab59-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d482031-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a9d3b41-me.jpg I added a line clamp to the steering column bolt. However, I am going to have to drill and tap these so I can use a nut to anchor these. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e602ae3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ca0dc6d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...82aee3b-me.jpg |
Awesome progress Marty, but as an old cyclist I'm wondering about all those forks!
https://www.lateral-g.net/forums/cac...8d06ea7-me.jpg |
So each one of those forks came off of a Fat bike build that was either mine or someone else's bike I built during covid. However, there are
forks on that wall and another wall that date all the way back to the early 90's. So basically they are garage art. Quote:

Final Install of the EFI Tank Vent ( 04-15-22 )
So everything from here forward should be final install which is awesome as I really want to start this car.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3a1865c-me.jpg Jay at Pro-Tek Powder coating does such an incredible job powder coating yet I am still amazed at how nice stuff looks when it comes back from him. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d82236f-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3b2542d-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...3461eb3-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...42aa3e6-me.jpg Of course the I had to write myself another reminder note. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f7d42ee-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...164bbce-me.jpg I did at a tiny bit of RTV on the bolts holes just to prevent and water seepage. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...67be35a-me.jpg So I picked up a new toy and some animal crackers. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f55d8f2-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7178d29-me.jpg |
AAW 500875 Hi Amp Alternator Charge Wire ( 04-16-22 )
Well this finally came in and now it's time to change the alternator charge wire.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7e624f6-me.jpg Remy is out for the count and not much company today. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5ba3b37-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...166300c-me.jpg Screw it I am hungry and it's been a long day so I am off to get some taco's. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...beb1fd0-me.jpg I also picked up the Element Fire Extinguisher. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...c2006a7-me.jpg |
ARP Trans Pan Hardware ( 05-05-22 )
I was in need of a couple simple projects as work has been really busy lately.

How are you going to use it? |
Final Install of the Vintage Air Valve Relocation ( 05-08-22 )
Next up is the installation of the Vintage Air unit and relocating the valve to the inner fender so it will be easier to service if needed.
So up to the garage attic I go and it's starting to empty. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...a00e5db-me.jpg This is the valve I will be relocating. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7a37799-me.jpg Since the valve was located in the interior I need to extend the wires out to the inner fender. I need to enlarge the middle hole to 1/2" so somehow I was able to make a close to perfect circle with a dremel tool. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2170fce-me.jpg My buddy Jimmy stopped by to check on the progress and show me the new exhaust he built. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f5d9d1f-me.jpg Mocking things up. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...22efa76-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7b0c101-me.jpg Making things pretty. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1fd0437-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f4e06a6-me.jpg |

Wagner Front Drive Opps I forgot a bolt ( 05-14-22 )
Back at it.
http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4465642-me.jpg So this note has been haunting me for a long time and today I finally decided complete the job. Apparently, I forgot to put one bolt in and I am certain this is a much bigger project then it needs to be as I am certain stuff is going to be in the way. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...d829ffd-me.jpg I took this picture for reference purposes as I am certain I won't be able to remember the belt routing. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7eca06a-me.jpg I was hoping that all I needed to do was remove the Alternator & bracket. Unfortunately, I was wrong... http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e7240f6-me.jpg and here is the missing bolt http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...9c75c4b-me.jpg Well it looks like more stuff needs to come off. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...548707c-me.jpg Thankfully the intake manifold has yet to be bolted on. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5b36a75-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...383c96b-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e86e3d2-me.jpg All better. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0aaf00c-me.jpg |
Passenger Side Kick Panel Close out ( 05-21-22)
These are the project that I like doing.
The blue tape is back and you all know how much I like blue tape. I used multiple layers of tape so I would have a very sturdy template. After I removed it I laid it on a thin piece of E-Flute corrugated with the Flutes in the vertical direction. As this would allow the bend that I was to have to make to fill the hole in the front. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...1a31b3c-me.jpg I roughly sketched the outside that I felt would cover the hole. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...11d95ca-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...f90cec7-me.jpg You can see that it folds nicely when the flutes are correct orientation. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...4a46da8-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...7fd6bd2-me.jpg Here is my cut template http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...afe6d8c-me.jpg http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...cfbf67a-me.jpg I wish I would have take a few pictures of the stud that I mounted which hands the closeout panel. Eventually there will be a nut and washer holding it on. You can also see I added two sheet metal screws to keep the panel from moving. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0ee0fbe-me.jpg Hardware that was purchase. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...ab42766-me.jpg I painted the back side first as this will allow me to flip it and paint the front in an hour or two. http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...e8896e0-me.jpg |
Very nice. What did u use to “paint” the panel with? ITT looks like a bed liner coating .
Thanks, Jimbo |
Looking good like always 👌
