You made a 1X single bolt gear? cool... Do you have a picture?

And yes, i would love to get one.. without it the consensus was that we would just leave it as is and live with it rather than do a cam swap

Greg, it is balanced.. the "bumps" one one side have corresponding "valleys" on the reverse..

I didn't take a pic of the last one I did. Here's what I do: mill off the 4x teeth from the gear you have now. Cut a .380" slice off some 4" .375" wall tubing. Weld the slice in the right spot with four rosettes. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out dry. Takes me a couple hours...

Its not balanced, its stamped. The valley is the side effect. Other GM gears have the teeth with no valleys.

Why not just mill off the two "extra" nubs -- and weld a piece into the gap of the single bolt version -- thereby making the One signal generator...

It would then have to be balanced.. right now every "bump" has a corresponding "valley" on the reverse...

Really... hmm.. seems odd that it could be that much out of balance and ok...

If the balancing isnt a big deal it could easily be modified

Then I do the frosting??? :yum:

Why not just fill the area between the two large peaks and grind off the two small ones?

The bump would be in the wrong place. Its kind of adding 30 degrees here and grinding 60 degrees off there. I think its easier just to start over.

As far as the balancing goes, we spun a 1x and a 4x gear, they are both off. I don't think the weight of one tooth would make much difference compared to the harmonics of valvetrain.

cake ftw!
