My Dad talked me into meeting a tool maker friend of his from Hewlett Packard when I was 15. He convinced me to go to a Vo-Tech school during High School half days for two years for machining. I got a job at 17 in a sweat shop running screw machines until I went into the Marines at 19. At 23 I was discharged went back to the Vo-Tech learned CNC got a good job, one thing lead to another, I spent 20 years as a tool maker, mold maker, etc. Then my knees gave out standing on concrete so I went back to school. Damn I miss Bridgeports, Laguns, Clausings, EDM's, Stereolithography, etc. I now sit on my ass and manage a WAN, boring SH** Anyhow I am rambling, awesome work Aaron, thanks for sharing it with us... :trophy-1302: Joe |
Those are beautiful work. I appreciate what you guys do because I have trouble drill and tapping a straight hole.

Some amazing fabrication in this thread! Too much to list. Makes us want to strive for a little more the next time we take BigRed apart. We'll have to visit this thread more often.

For those not following our Spirit of '66 Vette thread, I made this this weekend. It's an air filter adapter for a C6 element. This is just the base, I need more material for the retainer ring. Hope to get to that later this week. Enjoy.
Note: this is right out of the machine, just rinsed the coolant off. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...psbiurl5kp.jpg http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...psjr95fnpv.jpg http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/...psdlec4yfn.jpg |
