So can they save the paint or will it get reshot once all the 'tweaks' are done?

Gonna have to go for a ride this summer!!

Tony -- Basically I bought two frame rails and a couple upper control arms... :willy: :willy:  Everything else is new. NO this is NOT how to do it right... this is the dumbass way. But it is what it is.

Body will NOT have to be repainted. It's done - upholstery is done - but replacing the carpet with an aircraft square weave. Frame was heavily modified
rear end replaced with the Champs Quick change unit - motor was replaced - 8 stack EFI was added - tranny changed from T56 6 speed to a Tremec 5 speed - wheels and tires changed - all new exhaust system - new grill shell - antique heater restored and installed (wasn't any) - and the windshield redo - and the headlights added - and the cow catcher/frame horn bob job....

Like my title says -- a few tweaks and mods.

It WILL BE done for the mid May Santa Barbara Wheels and Waves show... It will... It will... It will. Twinkling nose - looking skyward - hoping - praying... It will be done... It will.

Everything you're doing on the car is looks really good - the title of the thread is kind of funny now though! :)

I'd also like to say thanks for posting all of this. You've helped me re-gain my focus with my own little project. I got sidetracked with some other issues, and watching you build this '32 reminded me why I started building a street rod in the first place.

Well that's good to hear Todd!

Not sure what you've read or how much of this thread -- but I bought this car at an auction on a whim. I thought it was cute - and a couple buddies have '32's. After driving it around a day or so - it was pretty obvious it wasn't the 'cute' car in a mechanical way - and needed some fixing. Since it wasn't on my radar I took it to SAR in Portland to discuss what needed to be done.... well.... once you get going you might as well do X and X and X while you're at it. Sort of like a remodel on a house. You run into issues or problems or whatever. I'm extremely fortunate (lucky) to not have to have a budget so I can just have 'em do the work - stay on it 'til it's done. So that makes it fun!

I've been subscribed and taking notes since your first post! As soon as I saw "32 Ford" I was buckled up and ready for the ride. I think a 32 is my ultimate destination...

I have a '37 Three window Minotti... it's a complete running "done" hot rod that I bought as a complete re-do project. Now though -- I'm down at SAR and they have all these '33 and '34 Ford "real steal" bodies and a '33 has always been one of my favorites. So..... you know how it is.... you start dreaming.

Then you have guys on here calling me and saying "you know what would be really kool!?" Like a PT "hot rod" with real performance on a track... and that get's me thinking some more.

That's what I am attempting to build myself. It's a fine line between losing the "feel" of the hot rod and going too far into race car territory - if you're really into hot rods. I really think that's going to be one of the next trends. With the right chassis under them, how could they not be fun and impressive to put through the paces? It's a motor and chassis with seats!

How about putting this car in a box and tugging it to Columbus (Goodguys) this July? I need to get a good look at all the hard work. :unibrow:

Awesome project! I love all the cool little art deco pieces, they really tie everything together! SAR are great craftsmen! Can't wait to see it all finished!
