"Bad Ron" M and his trusty sidekick Brian stopped by this morning. We washed some of the road grime off the 66 Chevy:D

I left BRon with 3/4 of a tank of gas, a top off of the oil, a half eaten pack of trail mix and a slightly warm but unopened Gatorade. Oh and a collection of CDs for his listening pleasure.

He had a support truck following him so I figured that was more than enough and I waved goodbye to Betsy. :animated_bye_bye_em

Rob,

I have been following your Torino build here and on Jay's site.

When you started the trip with Ramp Truck I was planning same drive with another old truck.

I read thru all the posts but forget which route you actually took?

I am hoping to make trip in less than 4 days with an even older FORD truck but a F600.

Would you do it again?

My trip is planned for 3wks from now . . . The truck I will be driving is nearing 50yrs old. I have no clue on the MPG but thinking it will be at least 1000 in fuel. Leaving from SE area of NY.

Cool feel free to jump in the thread once and a while the water is warm. I'm dragging on the build right now but will be back on it soon

We went down the 95/85 to the 40 then all the way across to Flagstaff. From there down the 25 (if I remember right) to the 60 thru Wickenburg then the 10

Where are the pics of this truck? Don't be stingy, share :snapout: You want to make it in 4 days? :headscratch: :headscratch: :lostmarbles: Sorry had to say it :lmao: We took 9 days. One day was a no travel day in NC so say 8. If I remember you are in AZ and you are leaving from NY so I guess you can subtract a day on each end to get you to 6.

Would you do it again?

Hell yes. BUT If you asked me if I'd try driving from NY to AZ in 6 days I'd say no thanks. :shakehead: If I did it again I'd want at least another week over the time we took. Also make sure you have a good wingman. Without a good friend sitting next to you it would be a long journey

So we got 6-7 mpg the best we did was 8.5 unladen. I'm pretty sure fuel will be more than $1k. Really in an old truck doing 60-70 max 500 miles a day is a full day. Our drive was about 4k miles. Lets say yours is only 3k I'd still want at LEAST 6 days to do it.

If you are a go I'd say post up some details right here or start a new travel thread. Really thousands of txts and a few hundred posts telling us we were nuts during the trip added to the experience and kept us motivated.

Welcome to Lat G and good luck with the trip.

Now post some pictures of the cross country F600  :ttiwop:

When this thread drags on for another 5 years and the page views count FINALLY beats Todd's Chuck Wagon... Don't try to count "truck trips" posts to get there...

Just sayin'
