Thanks to everyone else for the compliments on my car.

It must be the $$$ and the fame as to why he does it. Its not like people dont know who Boyd is. Back on topic...you Vette is probably the car I liked the best to come out of that shop on the show.

That car is just amazing and can't wait to see some detailed pictures..... I was a big fan and followed it on the show. I figured most all that stuff for TV purpose only! Look forward to the pics.

TwinSting...

Hey Shaun -

Absolutely love your car.
Want to donate it to a worthy cause?? LOL

Anyway, I don't know how much you have had a chance to drive it, but
1. How is the 5-spd holding up?
2. Is the clutch enagement/disengagment tolerable under "full" power ?
3. Do your tires bite enough to stress the clutch/transmission at all ?
3. Do you feel like you are near the edge of any missed shifts ?

Tom Nelson is building me a high horsepower BBC and since I am putting a highly modified manual transmission behind it, I was wondering if you had any pointers or thoughts on your experiences driving your vette.

Thanks a lot Shaun.

Not to hi jack this thread I would like to hear about your modifications to your transmission? Which tranny is it? I'm going upgrade my Viper spec T56 to G-Force's 1200hp version it's still not quite what my output will be but it's the highest rating I've come across for a T56...

Speedster 12-11-2005 04:10 PM

Hey Groovyjay

You're in a slightly different scenario in that you already have a T-56.
In that case, I think the G-Force upgrade is the best.

I started from ground zero and found that most places feel that a properly prepped TKO600 may be able to handle a higher load than a T-56 in gears 1-4.
In both transmissions, running in 5th or 6th gear is not recommeded under high torque loads.

While researching the tranny issue, I was pointed to Promotion Powertrain in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. You can speak with the owner, Walt. He thinks it will withstand 1200-1400 hp, maybe more. They get a brand new TKO600, take it apart, cryogenically treat, polish and replace the gears, beef up a bunch of the internals, tighten up the tolerances and add an external girdle that further strengthens the transmission case against flexation.

That's about it. Hopefully it will hold up under high torque/hp loads. :)

Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll manage with the G-F stuff for a long time.

Hey guys,
Well I went and got the Vette from Boyds for the final time on Friday. It is about complete finally. I plan on getting out and driving it over the next week or so. I have not yet really gotten into it. I want to break it in slow and also Tom Nelson and I need to dial in the tune on the streets. I will try to post some new pictures and also reviews as i start driving it.

Steve- Let me know when you are available to shoot it.

That's awesome, I can't wait to see some detail shots. I could also host some video... hint, hint. :unibrow: :D
