Great looking camaro, cannot wait to see it done. To get a 275 on the front, are you dialing out some of the steering so that the tires will not rub?

Yeah, I actually thought it wasn't gonna be possible (as many have said) but we are using stock from subframe and Air Ride Strong Arm control arms and our mock up shows it will fit, and not sticking outside the fender. I should have pics in the next couple weeks as I am heading up to see the car and make interior and other detail decisions. Will post pics then. Is that your Camaro in your avatar? Let's see some pics of that! cheers |

Flash68,
What size wheel do you have and with what backspacing? The car pictured in my avatar is what I am currently working towards. The car is a 68 Camaro that was originally painted British Green. I don't know if want to take it back to the original color. Paint is one of the hardest decisions to make. I would like to stay with an original color. I am toying around with painting it Corvette Bronze with the black SS stripe. Right now, I am debating whether to modify the stock frame. I currently have the Global West upper control arms. If I stay with the original frame, I plan on getting the Global West lower control arms and running air bags. I would get the ATS tall spindles and Lee power steering. I would like to run 19" wheels all the way around and would like 19X9s on the front. If I don't use the stock frame, I will most likely go with the AME subframe with air bags. In the rear, I am planing on using the mini tubs from Detroit Speed and use the G-bar with air bags and a 9" rearend. I use Photoshop to edit the cars and try out different wheel combinations. I am going to use the RS grill but will shave the bottom turn signals and possibly fender turn signals as well. On the back, I will be using the 1967 Marquez tail lights but will shave the back up lights on the bottom. I might black out the rear panel, not sure yet. Here are a few wheels I have narrowed it down to. The first car is to show you the image I started with (not my actual car). The second and third images use the IForged Essen wheel, gray then black. The fourth one is the Kinesis with a red pinstripe. The last one is a Fikse. Let me know what you think |
Welcome Derek! What part of the NW are you in...I'm near Portland. You should start a thread in the new members forum!!
I hope you still have plans of using turn signals...perhaps hiding them? I think that car needs black centered wheels! And sticking with green wouldn't be bad at all...I for one like that darker green! What are the plans for the motor/trans? Ok, back to Flash's thread now......;) |
Great renderings. I am with Anthony - I'd say go with black wheels.
i just emailed my builder to ask what the new specs are cuz the measurements I gave him for the 1st attempt were not good! DOH! I will let you know when I get the numbers back. I did my research and thought I nailed it but apparently not. I believe they were 18x9.5 with a 5.5 inch backspacing. Think they are now something like 18x9 with 6 inch BS.... Anthony - checked out your pics. Your car is looking rad! |
I was close. My fronts are now 18x9 with 6.25" backspacing.

In front I have 18x9 w/ 5.625" b.s. and a 245 tire, using a stock spindle and track width. This puts the tire basically at the same location as a 8" wheel w/ 5" b.s. |
updated pics
finally got some updates for the Camaro. And a couple previews of the custom gauge assembly.
