when i looked at the transaxle, I think the installed length needed the front end extending a little, depends or what radiator setup you use

Been busy with health and am due for surgery this Wednesday. I'm getting a pain pump implanted in my side to help with chronic pain from pancreatitis. I decided to do an inventory on everything to see what I'm missing. Quality of the subframe is incredible. Really cool piece. Only thing I'm missing are new CV joints, driveshafts and all new poly bushings. Also the cable to put the Qaife reverse unit in reverse.

Very cool project Dane. I can't wait to see it go together and hear how it runs. Good luck with the surgery too. I hope the pump helps you out.

Any update on this? I have seen a few posts about your health and I am assuming that is why an update has not been made. If so here's to a speedy recovery.

This project has really got me intriged. My wife wants a Mini, so maybe I can get the best of both worlds with something like this.

This project has really got me intriged. My wife wants a Mini, so maybe I can get the best of both worlds with something like this.

Its starting this week or next. Been daily driving it with the stock motor. I got it up to 94mph gps verified in 4th gear. No surprise, the header cracked at one of the welds after all the driving I've put it through

All my friends that offered their help and lifts for the projects backed out so I'm sending it down to Heritage Garage which is one of the top mini restoration shops in the nation.

Going to appraise the car, and if its worth the swap, we'll start. If not, I'll sell it for what I paid and break even, and start with a shell, using all carbon fiber parts to lighten it up and likely go british racing green with all MK1 parts and make it a sleeper. A guy on the mini forums got his down to 874lbs with gas. 179whp.... Scary fast.

Should make 40-50hp around town under 7000rpm, rev it higher and it makes big power.

In the meantime, I need to get the car down to orange county somehow. AAA towing perhaps.

I had a pain pump implanted in my abdomen for chronic pancreatitis/pain. It has a remote control and a catheter that goes to my spine. I no longer have to take oral meds and am a LOT safer driving. No more loopyness or groggyness at all.

The pump is helping a lot, but it still needs further adjustment. Thanks for the concern.

First test drive was today. Working out some final issues. This is going to be my daily driver if I can stand it. The R1 makes 170whp with a 11,500 redline. 1300lb car. Its scary. Lights up in 3rd and even in 4th.

Enjoy!
