Digging it Dave!

I am especially enjoying this thread. My first car was an all original 69 442 that I bought off the 2nd owner for $1000. Man I wish I still had that car, it even had the original Goodyear Polyglass F70/14 spare in the trunk that had never been on the ground. I remember that copper color, my 400 was the same color. Good luck with the build. Congrats on the upcoming wedding.
You gotta put this build up on the home built thread. This is gonna be good. |
Got a few updates!
Just about got the front end buttoned up. Sway bar installed last week. Still need to install the steering box and steering linkage but that is only minor. Also built the rear with the CPP rear big brake kit. Everything looks great! Pics to come tomorrow. Also picked up some engine goodies. I sold the original 74mm turbo I had because I believe I need to walk before I run. I picked up another turbo and wastegate combo...67mm turbo which should max out at around 700 hp without IAT issues with a decent intercooler. I am looking for a VERY drivable 600 flywheel horse. Got this baby today: http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/a...ntakeSetup.jpg GMPP intake, Wilson Manifolds fuel rails, Edelbrock 90-deg elbow, injectors, and gaskets for a smokin' deal. I will eventually upgrade the injectors but for now they will be good to start with. More to come in the next few days! Thanks, Dave |
Very nice Dave.

Thanks man...picked up the trans, converter and cooler today! Finally building some steam again!
LOTS of pics tomorrow! Dave |
Good work Dave. Keep us posted.

Great job so far! Your going to love that engine combo. That 60 wont last too long though.

I mapped it for massive torque without crazy Rs and am hoping my combo pays off. Since it is still a T4 flange I can always go back to the biggun...but right now I'd rather be safe than sorry. I have also heard really good things about the LS9 cam in milder builds which I believe mine still falls under. I am not too worried right now on the transmission. The gentleman who built it races them exclusively and gave me the list of parts that was put in this thing and how it was prepped. He also backed it up with any and all support necessary should I have any problems. With dedication like that, how can I complain?!! Currently I am limited by my injectors anyway, I just want to get started so mathematically I am just going test out 6lbs of boost...then go from there. We'll see though. I can't wait till the day she fires up again on her own. |
little advice on turbo ls.
since you are going the turbo route, I would advise a evac catch can system on your motor. If you don't do it this way, when you are in boost you will be compressing the crankcase and forcing oil out wherever and you will pop the dipstick tube out. also, make sure your turbo return line doesn't leak. :D
