Let me know if I got any of the cars mixed up. |
I have 230 pics. Do you guys just want to see street machine/muscle cars? Probably around half are street rods. The majority are from the awards areas. It'll take a minute for me to get them resized and figure out the best way to show them. I'll post some of the really good stuff here soon.
I have some gripes. One it really sucks that there was no autocross. That made it just a beauty contest again. That leads into the second need to vent: Combined with the normal auto show politics, the lack of performance proof really seemed to set the tone for an outright beauty contest. There were other cars that, IMO, seemed much more suited to be in the top five. The person representing the Mustang had to admit - on mic, before everyone - that the Mustang was pretty much stock underneath - just Air Ride (SMOY sponsor :_paranoid ) and Baer brakes... Meanwhile, cars with actual engineering and hardcore fabrication sat in the parking lot getting sun tans. I usually don't pay much attention to trophies and awards at car shows other than to see who actually won (after the fact). I go to see the baddest cars on the planet (only go to major shows), and enjoy talking custom $h!t with really awesome people. I need to go back to that. I had a great time talking to one of the (Ring) Brothers - felt like I new him for years after a few minutes; and definitely had fun talking to Bob Johnson again. I spotted him walking around with Alan before the ceremony (I was in the bleachers) and made my way down to say hi afterwards. The band was pretty cool too - took me back to junior high and high school. Remember where I left off (Bob Johnson) when I return with a few really sweet pics... ;) |
