Greg if your doing the Lakster headers. How about putting an electric cut out, so that way you could have open headers then close them quickly with just a switch. Haven't seen it done before.

First = Thanks!

It was totally a "whim".

Now --- yes I'm more than capable of doing this in the shed. However.... there is a few things that enter into the decision to have the tweaks done.

#1 -- I have a busy winter for whatever reason -- it's just "full" -- more so than normal.

#2 -- I want to be driving this by MAY

#3 -- The Shed is occupied right now...

#4 -- I just really don't feel like doing it. :D

#5 -- This way I can really say -- the car was built by SAR

#6 -- I know nothing about them -- what they're supposed to be etc so I have to defer to better judgement i.e., The pros at SAR. Steve knows these cars.

#7 -- I would only be "saving" the labor... and this is not that big of a deal in the scheme of things. I'd still have to purchase all the parts.

#8 -- After doing the work - I'd still have to have the chassis painted - so this way I'm saving the paint jail and the excuses. I only have to spank one shop IF it's delayed for some reason.

#9 -- Did I mention that I just don't feel like it? :D

I completely understand. I was just busting a bit. Just make sure they have a good photographer there. It will be great seeing this one come together. May in Washington? Better have them build a hard top and wipers! You going to do a build thread or just update this thread? Need to know which one to subscribe at.

Hoping this thread has longer legs than that Renner-centric one. I heard all the panel gap spray he's inhaled turned him into a ghost...a goblin. :(

Just been emailing with Steve -- told him "I'm from Missouri"...

The napkin rendering really isn't detailed enough for me... so we're working on it.

As for your electric cut out idea. NO. :D

There'd be no place to hide the hideous things.

Chad ---

Trust me when I tell ya -- I had to check with myself more than a couple of times... But there's lots of reasons for me to just have them do it.

#1 really is -- I don't want to screw it up... a man has to know his limitations.

with some engineering it could be designed to not be all that noticable.

really i was just thinking how much your neighbor would like it.

GregWeld 09-27-2010 04:05 PM

Bob --

Have you heard that thing fire off thru the exhaust it has now?? It will absolutely drive him (neighbor) to buy a gun and come hunting for me. BUT.... there's always a big butt.... I'll be waiting... :D

I'm not doing ANY engineering on this car. I like it because it's SO SIMPLE! And I'm going to keep it that way -- to me -- that's the attraction! No A/C - No P/W - No P/Bs - not even a folding top to store! I love it. A motor - 4 tires - half a body... Pure simplicity.

I guess I should - but will wait for the final rendering and parts list. Then I'll have to rely on Bob to stop every night on his way home to update us with pics!

EEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA

Looks like maybe the wheels will be 20's in back and 17's up front. Still working on that. I like that combo - now have to find an appropriate tire. I don't like these cars with skinny sidewalls... that just isn't "right". And we've agreed on capped LAKESTER style headers with out the back exhaust.

I think the Imagine Injection I have on the Nomad is too contemporary - even though the owner is a buddy - so I'm thinking of the Inglese 8 stack or a Hilborn. I like the looks of the Inglese unit and the common plenum for vacuum (PCV) is a big plus.

I was already told "NO" on the console having a spot for my coffee cup (which never leaves my hand)... I was told I could just buy a bean bag version from Wal-Mart. I like Steve's style! He's not afraid to tell a customer "NO"! :woot:

96z28ss 09-27-2010 05:50 PM

Well,
I will be there doing some engineering on one of there cars. I could take pics, or I could just tell its looking good and then just keep you in suspense.
