The Seachickens are a good team. But they got beat. They beat themselves to a degree, but for the most part, despite the fact that they gained more yards they failed to gain more points.

Nope, I'll never be convinced. I have the game recorded on my computer and played the video several times back and forth. I don't see any conclusive evidence of the ball breaking the plane. I wish I could figure out how to take a screenshot of windows media player... Not that it matters :D

Watch the video I just added to my last post to see how he's carrying the ball, and then compare it to the pic so you know where the ball is.

Tom, to do a screen capture from windows media player, you need to first turn off hardware acceleration. Here's how, assuming you have a Windows OS.

Right click on your desktop, go to Properties

Select the 'Settings' tab

Click on 'Adanced'

Select the 'Troubleshoot' tab

Move the Hardware acceleration slider from 'full' to 'none'

You can now do a screen capture with a video playing.



You guys are debating water under the bridge, it's time to talk about whether or not Jr. can win the 500. :D

Steelers had great plays but the simple fact is the Seahawks outgained, outpassed, and allowed fewer yards throughtout the entire game. So statistically they were superior to the Steelers.
In fact, they were the only team in Super Bowl history to outgain, outpass, and dominate a team and lose. Why? Because the refs chose to call chicken s**t penalties through the entire game.
And as for shooting off Jeremy Stevens' fat mouth, every sports writer in the country said Joey Porter was a non-factor in this game despite talking from his southern output all week. I don't like the pro sports smack talking so i don't stand behing Jeremy Stevens and his mouth but Porter ran his mouth 10 times more and didn't do a thing all day.
If you read or watched any sports news outside of Pittsburgh today, You would already know this stuff......

Steelers outgained, outpassed, outran, time of poss by a bunch, more first downs, etc. in Super Bowl 30 and lost.

Thanks Scott - when I try this my machine is pretty much non-responsive.... the 9GB (!) video file is just failing to even play.

Is it possible that part of the ball being covered by Ben's hand crossed the goal line? Sure. But I don't see any visual evidence of it, and don't know how the refs could.

Wasn't it interesting how the one ref put his hand up to mark the ball down at first, and then signaled touchdown a few seconds later? Like I heard on a radio program today, someone must have whispered to him "Psst!! The Steelers are SUPPOSED to win!!!" :lol:

That's the initial theory! :D Now, it appears most the Seahawk fans on their message boards are blaming the drops and Holmgren for poor clock management, and not going for it on 4th with 6 minutes left and two scores down.

I'm just surprised at how much work Jody has put in to try and prove to us crybabies that the Steelers are that good. I gotta give you props. Too bad they won't be back next year though. Sorry.

Actually I think the Steelers are a very good team. I also thing that Seattle is good and deserved to be there. I just think there was a lot more happening in the game that caused the loss than just the refs.

This was posted on the first gen board and in my opinion is pretty accurate:

"Seattle had 4 or 5 dropped passes, total clock mismanagement at the end of both halfs, two missed field goals, they were 5 out of 17 on third down conversions, dominated the first half but only put up three points(they could have easily put the game away in the first half) a pick in the red zone, punts going into the endzone for touchbacks instead of pinning pittsburgh deep, punted the ball with about six minutes left and down by two scores, then at the end of the game let the clock run like they had the lead and then everyone wants to blame the refs? Parker burned them on a 75 yard run and they got burned on a trick play for a TD. Thats what lost the game for them. They had the whole game to get it done. They were such a powerhouse that was going to roll the Steelers remember? A few calls shouldnt have made a difference. When the Steelers needed a play they made it Seattle had plenty of chances but couldn't close the deal. "
