So an update on the Lolla and have been working like mad on the projects and getting to see the tunnel (the lights at the end of the tunnel are still far away :)

I spent a "Brazilian" man hours and shoveled so much nasty stuff of the engine and tranny, but am happy on how she is coming along.

Subframe back in, and aligned as best as it will go for teh time being. Check out the old body mounts, I think it is good tehy made this stuff biodegradable, I think the body and frame were going to eventually separate and say goodbye. Anyone wants a cookie?

Got the frame setup, and getting stuff done while I sleep walk :)

Engine before (about 30 pounds of grease and nasty :)

Engine after LOTS of CLEANING. I still cleaned this puppy a zillion times before final prep and paint.

I am still playing with the paint, etc, but likely will paint the intake Pont metallic blue, and them modify some GTO covers, the coil packs are beyond fugly on these engine. I played with relocating them but unless I hide them under the cowl they are still a major eye sore, so am brewing a few ideas. Worst case GTO like covers for the time being

The garage is a total nightmare, I owe my wife many shopping trips, massages, foot massage, dinners, on and on, but she has been putting up and helping on the madness :) Itis her car after all . While I am working on the engine and tranny, got both cars back in the garage.. This is a 9 feet garage, so not a lot of room to play, a few inches left on the top and a few inches between tracks and 67 top, close enough for comfort. I am planning to modify Lolla's suspension with air (air or hot air :), so will have a few more inches here and there :)

Thank you everyone for all the huge help, inspiration on times of desperation, tips and occasional bad influence while this project is getting closer and closer to come to life :)

Thanks!

usually I dont like LS engines in classic cars, but looks like you are taking a nice path on that.

wish I had the room to have a lift in my garage, my ceilings are only 9 or 10ft high

I am really digging the dark grey Bird

Thanks they are coming along :)

Yep I started in the bilt 400 direction and actually had a nicelly built 400 (rated at 450HP) ready to go in I already had spent time putting together, then cleaning, painting etc, then 4 speed Muncie. Was a hard call, but as the 67 coupe 400 is matching numbers I was looking to go a bit wilder on this build, so subtle body modifications.

My garage is 9 feet tall :) I have a few inches of space between the roof of the car, then a few inches of space between upper car and ceiling. Just enough to clear :) Cars are about 51" tall, the vert wil have air ride so will actually be lower when stored, so depending what cars you have you can definitely make it work. The lift was the best investmenmt ever, great storage plus makes working on the cars so much safer and easier!

Thank you, G!

And the Pontiac blue on the LS looks really good. I have seen a couple like this now and I just might have to follow suit. It looks a lot better than I would have imagined.

awesome!

Im definitely going to look into a lift then.

oh by the way, if a tall girl shows up wanting to beat you up, dont worry its just my wife for giving me this lift idea. haha

geberhard 05-02-2013 09:17 AM

Lol anytime :) It was tough convincing my wife, but you can drop hints about working on the car safely, getting thing done quicker, space to store the cars and more space for her things in the garage etc lol :) Good luck!!!
