I'm going to echo what most have said. What a cool story about the car. Now you get get to enjoy building it as a family project! Keep up the great work!

love the story especially the 18yr start up. did you take around the block one last time?
great work on that cage and everything else, that thing is going to be killer. |
Unfortunately the transmission seals were not cooperating, the brakes went straight to the floor. Oh well it did bring chills to hear it though. It's funny how you can be brought back in time so quickly by just a sound. :flag2:

Posting some updates on the progress
Things have been slowly moving along. The drip rails have been a lot of fun to get just the way that I want them. After looking at a lot of cars it seems that some people spend a lot of time getting the inside of the channel looking really good and others not so much. I decided that with all of the other things that I had done that I did not want it to be noticeable that any work had been done in that area.

Test fitting the Vintage air unit
I ended up going with a Vintage Air Gen IV electronic control AC unit with the one piece hoses. I did not want to see any bolts thru the firewall or the hoses under the dash or see the hoses coming thru the firewall. I fabricated my own brackets for the unit that are very rigid compared to the stock brackets. I ended up drilling custom holes for the hoses and then I will place grommets in the holes. The hoses will route above the replacement kick panel and then inside of the fender.

Time for some color...
Its time to enter a new stage of the build. Nothing like color to motivate the project. I like to find the little victories in everything...

The prep, the masking, the making sure I have good even coverage. WOW I'm glad that's over. :hairpullout: :excited: |
