That's the one area I'd go with a modern look.

I'd have to agree here, I think it would look cool with the painted wheels and small caps but you are building to drive so modern wheels would be my chose.

If your looking for a more subtle look, go with a set of 18" from Vintage wheels works like these??

Seriously awesome build. Love the fact that you're just concentrating on drivetrain and suspension. I did the same with mine.

Here's a 66 we wheeled up last year. Would love to build something for your car including the poverty cap idea like this Camaro I designed the wheels for and can also make for you or anything in between.

Here is a picture of George Poteet's Chevelle with 18" wheels painted body color and with poverty caps. They are one off Schot wheels. I think it looks cool with the wheels painted to look like steelies...

Another thing that comes into the mix is thru experience is that I want a little taller sidewall (55 series) so I get a decent ride.........I'm old school in that respect.......I just don't like those low profile tires.......Probably gonna run 17's on the front and 18's on the rear.....Here's a picture of my Impala.....Gonna be close to this......

With 17/18's I think the steelies with dogdish caps would look great.

Got a little more assembled.......Got the steering linkage installed and the brake caliper mounts.......I'll get the rotors and calipers installed then on to the rear......

Awesome project Ken! Body color steel wheels with pie tins is one of my favorite combo's provided the wheel diameter isnt too big. Looking forward to seeing your new ride next year.

Got the front spindle hubs installed......when I opened the box with the rotors I noticed they weren't cad plated.......So I sent them out for plating to keep that rust from showing up later.......I should have them back for installation tomorrow......I also ordered a Posi unit so I decided to wait for that to show up before getting involved in the rear end......so....I jumped into the inside and finished getting all the original A/C removed along with the dash and wiring......I also sent the stock AM radio out for conversion to AM/FM Satelite..............Started mounting the Vintage Air system.......Having Fun!!!
