Big picture - They're bureaucrats driven by environmentalist groups using "our" tax dollars attempting to shut down down race tracks and other "undesirable" activities by implementing unrealistic regulations.

They managed to gather mass and revenue by uniting motorcyclists, atv'ers, snowmobilers, mountain bikers, and equestrians to fight recreational land closures. They've made a difference.

Looks like I might have just bought myself some time as Laguna
is not going to be an option at 90db.. I will talk to my Muffler guy who
is the man for Norcal Shelby group.... he told me a while back that some
of the Trans Am cars were running two sets of mufflers to get down to 105

My Pantera with the short exhaust will be an issue unless I split the
180's exiting point which is not an option now that I welded those holes
up... The firebird might have a chance but not sure it is worth the effort
in order to run the one event.. have to retune it etc

I did run Laguna the first time this year (105 day) and yes it is a world class
track but to tell the truth I like thunderhill a lot more and with the
new track extension it is going to be awesome.. I did have to build
some new mufflers for Thunderhill a year or two back but a least it is 98 db

I love the out of state tracks- Reno, Pahrump and Firebird... I can run
the 4" straight exhaust on the car and make it seem like I am really
running on a track the way they used to run

My Vintage Can Am buddy stated they were looking at putting mufflers
on them a few years back but I have not heard anything else recently

The thing that hurts these racetracks is housing close to the track. Even airports have noise restrictions over certain neighborhood. Have you ever flown out of John Wayne in Orange County?

I wouldn't buy a house next to an airport or racetrack cause I know its undesirable for resale. The tracks or airports were there way before the homes. There should be a clause on the title of these homes that there is noise due to proximity to certain venue. Then they can't complain about it.

Portland International Raceway should be the model for all race tracks. Its got a golf course on one side, swamp land and expo center on the other side. Its got a I5 running thru the front of it. No one to complain about noise. Oh and if you want to complain about noise, the city of Portland owns it good luck with that complaint. Its normal track days is 105db and 4 times a year they bump it up to 115db.

I don't think Oregon Raceway Park has a db restriction, at least I've never heard mention. :unibrow:

Hopefully Laguna Seca doesn't fall victim to housing immigrants as so many race tracks around the country have.

It looks like 92 dB for that weekend 8-9 March according to the Laguna Seca calender. It is a lot better than a 90 dB, but it will still be a concern. Hopefully USCA will post this actual information on the website so any going know what to prepare for.

Yeah but ORP is in the middle of no where. Who would live out there? PIR is 5 minutes to downtown Portland.
I can't figure out why Laguna has a sound restriction, I just google mapped both tracks and housing seems to be just as close. Only difference I see is that in Portland people are probably more annoyed with the train track noise and horn blowing than the track.
