me and my wife. six events 10 hours one way race for 2 days and drive back. in fact we are driving to the Daytona event 20 hours one way no trailer.

The Mustang is up for it, call her old reliable. Rides really nice too, surprisingly.

I've driven to every event so far (two) with 3 hrs each way the longest so far. For those that have done this without a trailer is an AAA membership credit card and some tools the way to go?? Perhaps smaller race trailer like DSE monster Camaro towed last year in one lap?

I don't really want to buy a trailer and go down that slippery slope for 3-4 events max each year. 1st enclosed trailer, then some shed out in Hailey Idaho cant swing like that yet.

I have. 300 mile round trip there and back.

no tools, no trailer, just a wallet of cash (took 4 tanks of gas there and back)

Arrived, let the air out. 4 passes, fastest being a 10.3 @ 130mph (note wheel spun first 60 feet or so, was hoping to crack into the 9's)

Put air back in the tyres, drove her home.

My first out of town drive with my car was from California to Texas. Yep. Just a phone call away from a tow home is how i looked at it, needless to say, was still nervous. After the first phase, pleasanton good-guys to morgan hill, the hood came unlatched twice on the freeway (not up, but un latched), couldn't get more than 7 gallons in it (due to a flaw David Pozzi found a in the Ricks tank), check engine lite came on and lost my power steering.

Fixed the hood latch in the parking light, watched the gas mileage for the seven gallons problem, power steering well didnt need it going strait and said to myself "self, screw the check engine light" i know i've got oil and water.....

Yep made 2076 miles on here maiden voyage, and got 24.8 mpg.
But the first time on the autocross track at the pleasanton good-guys, broke down first run lol.

Have your wife start hunting for a third job.....



AAA and your cell phone.... and a credit card. I have the GOLD AAA card which will then include towing your "RV" (They didn't ask to see mine).


I drove my '67 Vette BBC tri-power car from Seattle to Bloomington (Springfield) Indiana - via Jackson Hole and then up to Mt Rushmore. The alternator gave up on it 8 miles from "the corn palace town" in Mitchell So Dakota.... I just kept driving - and the chevy dealer there fixed it while Alex (who was 10 at the time) and I had some lunch.
