Awesome build going here ....
Question, where did you get the shims/ spacers for the upper control arms? Different widths? Thanks, Michael |
On the rotisserie to finish up some welding. Then Harbor Freight dollies and stands to keep it mobile. Started hanging body panels. The inner fender wells have to be raised 2.5" for ride height and widened 3" each side for track. Plan is to run it full width. I did end up re-drilling and narrowing the track width by 3/4" in the back. Car will be widened 6" in back and 5.5" up front. Every time I thought I had an idea how to make that work I would hang the body panels and not like the results. So I would move on to something else till I could come up with another idea. Eventually I decided to widened the tail panel 2", that really helped the rear of the car.

I made the aluminum bushings for spherical bearings to replace the rubber. I looked all over for cross ties to go through the bearing but it seems nobody sells them. Can't remember (either Chassis Works, Roadster Shop or Art Morrison) posted how they make them so I gave it a try. I'm not sure if that will be what I end up using. I drilled everything stock C6 spacing so I can always go back to stock if wanted. I hope that is what your asking. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3953/...94ce55be_o.jpg Jeff |
exactly what I was thinking too Jeff. looking great!!!!

Jeff .... I was wondering about the shims between the mounting bolts and the plates for the upper control arms, looks like about 1/2 inch?

Figured it was time to start thinking of brakes. Decided on Wilwood stuff and as the Aero6 calipers had just come out that was the direction i was thinking. I liked the floating hats but noticed the mounting hardware was different. I made a call to Wilwood to see what was different between the brackets but didn't really get a clear answer. That was fine as the floating was more $$$ and I figured it wasn't really necessary. They did say that Summit would know how to order the Aero6 calipers instead of the W6A that was standard at that time. I called Summit and gave them the part number for the kit and the part numbers for the calipers I wanted to switch too. The guy wasn't sure how to do that but took my number and would call me back. :whistling: After waiting a day it was clear they weren't calling back. I had to look around here but I remembered someone getting their brakes from Ron Sutton. A quick google search for his name came up with nothing. I don't know if I was blind or he didn't have his contact in his signature yet but I had to find the posting that showed the box that had his business name on it. The next day made a call to Ron, I got all my answers and lot more info then I ever hoped for. He put a brake package together for me with prices that where very reasonable and brakes were on there way. I have sense had him do a complete suspension review with sway-bar and spring recommendations.
