Trying to educate myself but how would mids affect performance compared to long tubes?

Nice build!

So its been awhile since any updates and a lot has got done. My transmission showed up from American Powertrain and was able to get bolted up with engine. I also ordered the LS swap headers from Kooks and was hope full they worked with the DSE frame. I really wanted an 17/8" primary tube but couldn't bring myself to the $2200 DSE ones. I was really happy to find out they fit perfect!

Next up is building the exhaust and fitting rest of sheet metal for final gapping and then off to paint! Just wanted to throw a shot out to Billy at B&B Classics for all the great customer service and help with all my questions.

So I decided to remove the ball flange and install 3" V band clamps. Also ordered a cross over pipe and cross member from B&B very nice pieces.

Very excited my third member showed up so now I can order my drive shaft and start exhaust. I went with 3.90 and the Wavetrac posi unit. Talking to a few guys running autocross the 3.73 was a bit tall in 2nd gear so hopefully this will be overall a good ratio.

I have always been told that long tubes make more power on normally aspirated motors then short or mid length. Now do I have the docs to back that up? Nope. Lol

Yea I think the only way to make a choice is to mock up both. Got most of metal work in trunk done tonight. Boy it's real easy to flip thru builds on this site and go "I can just cut and weld that just like they did" wrong! I have huge respect for the guys that do this everyday. So here are some updates I got the fuel tank plumbing and the II much fuel installed. I Was very excited about using the stock 3/8" fuel line to work with a little bending here and there.

Did you make that square bracket and cover yourself or was that a purchased piece?

67machrod 03-10-2016 05:53 PM

Oh! I also have a Brand New Holley 302-1 LS oil pan for sale if you are interested.

Glad to see the headers fit well for you. Congrats on getting the car to being a roller.

Is that a Blazer or C/K I see sitting back there?
