[QUOTE=rwhite692], to prove myself truly worthy...one that the almighty magazines will appreciate...I hope the magazine people hurry up and tell me what to build next!
I simply MUST please them!!!:hail: [QUOTE] Who you talkin about?? ;) <-- I am all about Camaros :) (p.s. Ive owned BEFORE they were nutty popular) I like other stuff too.. just that if I have to have just one car you bet it is gonna be a maro.. when I get a bigger garage I will get a nova, chevelle, mustang, maveric and maybe even a wagon to haul the pooches around it :willy: And to be honest the people tell magazines what to feature.. we focus on what people are building.. Julys issue is gonna be chock full of MOPARS though :) |
Hey Steve...Don't get the wrong Idea...What I was referring to was how some folks seem to be so much more concerned with building something that others will like, more than what they themselves really want to do...My first Camaro was a 1968 back in high school, and it's been a long time since it rusted out from under me back in NY...I always wanted to have a 69 model, but school/career/family delayed that until a few years ago...So, I don't care if some folks think that the car I like is "too easy" to build...or "nutty popular"...or whatever. To each his own.

I remember growing up that it was more common to find a 1st gen camaro sitting outside a broken down single wide trailer with a red wood deck than it was to see one on the street with glossy paint.
I also remember going to the junkyard looking for parts for my 69 as a kid and simply tripping over all the 1st gen heaps. There were more than you could count stretched as far as you could see. Pro-street was all the rage back then so a "super hot" camaro was tubbed with a locker that could not make a U turn in a 100' radius! Those where the days. Now when I go to the bone yard, there are maybe a half a dozen third gens and one or two totally smashed 4th gens. I see 1st gens reaching the status of Rock Star at the auction sites and show circuits. It blows my mind. Mopars are much the same. I thought that movie "Joe Dirt" was right on with the mullet haired redneck and the old super bird. Look what a good clean hemi goes for these days. Scary! It makes me wonder what a 1992 Honda Civic will be to the hot rodders of the future as they look back on their youth with fond memories! |
