The $500K bid was intended to tell other bidders, Get the ---- out of my way! Fairly certain grandpa did that.
And as Steve said, it may ONLY be half a million, but it is more then any other muscle car ever did. And since it is the best muscle car to date, it is only appropriate it is the highest sales price to date. |
16 000 Hours! :wow: Ouch... Yeah, i had to use my calculator MAJOR ouch!
I see why he could be pissed. Getting used to those hours uhgh!... Lead. |

I'll say it again, I don't think it's realistic to pay a shop to build you a custom car and sell it for a profit.
If it's a significant low production car that's worth +$150,000 that you got a deal on and are doing a stock resto, you'll do all right. The Stuban Great 8 Riddler car from 2005 went for $170 ish and they were talking 10,000 hours or so to build that one too. We do it for the love and passion of cars and maybe to accomplish a goal. |
From what I understand, The last stingray owner is the current man in charge at Proteam corvette. As I watched from home this year and talked with my father off an on ( wasthere last year), he said isn't funny how things come full cirlce.
Here's a guy who got caught stripping vettes ( felony <?'s> from what I understand) years ago and now after restructuring his buisness has 200+ vettes in stock at any one time. I don't think he's hurting on the sale of "last 67". He got enough air time on the "behind the block" episodes to sell plenty of cars for years to come. |
Here is one that i thought would have gone for more. I was looking through the results and this seems low to me?
http://www.barrett-jackson.com/carli...LotNumber=1361 Sold for $51,700 and BJ takes what 8-10% at least maybe more after all expenses. |

BJ takes 8% from the seller (plus the $1200 to be there) and they take 10% from the buyer. So, on a $51,700 bid the seller nets $46,364 and the Seller pays $56,870 plus the fee to be a bidder of $400. The buyer also has to pay local and state sales taxes of almost 8% unless they have an outside transport company on hand to take the car. If you bring your own trailer, even if you live out of state, you HAVE to pay AZ sales tax. So on that car the seller got $46,364 minus the costs to get it to BJ and the buyer paid $57,270 plus the costs to get it home or sales tax. BJ made about $10,906 for the pleasure of selling that guys car. Not a bad gig for Craig Jackson ;) |
Aucton
$10906 if the bidder was there. If it was an internet, phone or proxy bid he gets another 2% or another $1000
