Chassis is looking great!

I was driving a twin turbo 65 Chevelle today after turning up the boost on the dyno and it really does drive and handle awesome with the RS chassis, you will love it.

735rwhp was too much for the 3rd gear clutch pack however :(

torino420 07-27-2012 05:14 PM

Looks killer Rob!

Flash68 07-27-2012 08:06 PM

Lookin good Rusty. :D

DFRESH 07-27-2012 08:31 PM

Dude, that is insane. I just ran across your build. What did you decide on wheel/tire sizes? That pic of the 335/20 and the way the car sat over it is wicked. Of course I am biased, but I hope you choose that path as the stance of the rear in that pic is more than outstanding.

Are you deep in Malibu or further south? Love the bugs bunny cartoon--I forgot all about that one. Classic.

Here is where I am so far.

Engine

390 ported stock heads with oversize valves Ford aluminum PI intake and Factory CJ Holley 735 carb. Billet MSD distributor triggering an MSD digital 6 CD box through an MSD blaster coil and wires. Solid lifter cam research cam 230/236 @ .050 with 560 lift and matching springs and retainers, double roller timing chain, Precision oil pumps rockers, stands and shafts and smith pushrods. Percision oil Pumps blueprinted high volume oil pump and billet pump drive shaft. Canton T road race baffeled pan. Stock 11 to 1 shortblock for now. I have FPA headers waiting in the garage and plan on having Spintech install a side exit 2.5" exhaust with X crossover.

Trans

Currently I have the stock close ratio toplader in the car but I have a TKO 600, Mcleod aluminum flywheel, driveline specialties Kevlar clutch sitting in the garage.

Differential

Factory Ford nine inch with a Detroit locker and 3.70 gears.

Front suspension

RRS Koni coilover strut conversion with 12" discs with PBR dual piston calipers. TCP strut rods and Opentracker racing Road race lower control arms. Stambar adjustable 1" front sway bar.

Rear suspension

Rebuilt and rearched stock leafs with Koni red shocks. Caltracks low profile underside bars. Solid front spring eye bushings and urethane rear bushings. 11" RRS rear disc brakes with single piston PBR calipers. I have spoke with FAYs2 about building me a WATTS link for my rear. It is on it's way.

Stock power brake booster with a Willwood aluminum 1.125 master and all new stainless brake lines.

The car sits 2" lower in the rear and 3" lower in the front and rides on some custom Elaisian wheels. 17x8 front with 245/45/17 Firestone Firehawks and 17x9.5 rear with 285/40/17 Firestones.

I'm swapping a 3g 130 amp alternator in this weekend and then working on designing some subframe connectors. When I done sorting out the suspension and driveline I want to paint the car the original Jade Black color but will still do the hood and taillight panel in the flat black (I sprayed them that way as an experiment for the look).

Still a long way to go but I'm getting there.

Yo Rob. How are those 17s w leafs workin out for ya?..

At this point other than the idea of building the car and choosing the parts RS deserves the credit.

Nice to hear they drive as good as they look. I hope my RST twin disc holds up to the 700hp we are estimating for my TP.

Thanks. I am doing a 18/19 or 19/20 combo. The chassis and stance is built around that size tire or close. I like the look of the 335 20 in the rear for sure. I just don't want the fronts to look to rollerskate in comparison. I'd like to get at lest a 285 width (preferably larger) tire up front and 26.5 tall. If I can get a tall enough front tire the 28" tall 20s will be in the rear. Otherwise I may go with the 27" tall 335 or 345 19.

One advantage to the 18/19 combo (besides unsprung weight) is the tire availability due to it being the Viper sizing.

I'm further south in Orange. Trestles not Malibu for me.:D

RST should be perfect for 700hp. We install a lot of those and also the RXT, it's a nice driving clutch.

Vegas69 07-29-2012 09:00 PM

RST for street, RXT for track.

I still think the Black wheel is the way to go but Bretts 33 Ford made me think of these wheels again.

Agreed, saw the 33 pics today. Very nice and black would look racy. Have you considered just plain old steelies lol

I like this look--typically i'd say black--but on yours I really like this look. You can always go back to black---

Rob, I've got a set of six spoke wheels that have been in the works for a while which are just about ready to be cut. Think of a cross between the Forgelines and a set of BRM GT40 style wheels with a few other tweaks!

I'll see if I can dig up a couple of the renders.

Yep something of that vintage look would be cool.

6 spokes would be different and those would great on this I think.

Matt, what other skunkworks crap you got going on down there?

Just found the files and emailed them to you. The more I look at it, the more I think the only similarity is that both wheels have six spokes. The spokes are basically styled off of the knock-off centers.

In addition to the six spoke you know what would really make this car:question:

A set of Ford GT seats. :unibrow:

Matt got any of those

Haha, you're making these seats out to be like the holy grail. I guess that makes me like the Frenchman at the castle, in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, "I think we've already gots one!"

Dave, you don't want to see my little skunkworks operation. I'd say it is about like your build thread, that is to say, it is a complete wasteland with a couple cool parts tucked away here and there

I bought this little trinket. I think I will be able to fit it behind the right front wheel in front of the firewall.
