Ok, so, I finally fixed the one thing I truly hated.....the wheels, cheap knock offs. I added my own flare...what do you think? This is not photoshopped. put my own ZC label on em.

WSSix 02-25-2013 06:38 PM

Interesting. I'm going to have to see the whole car before I can say what I think though. Good luck getting the car ready in time.

fleet 02-25-2013 06:55 PM

I understand you not liking the wheels.

But, they are what they are, and adding the yellow only draws more attention to them IMHO. :)

zingercustoms 02-25-2013 07:30 PM

I have an overall picture of what I want,...I have from the beginning been trying to put supercar influences into the design....I love lambos, ferrari and other imports that are full of color and style. the rear represents some cues from lambos with the exhaust and honeycomb etc. the front nose is inspired by this
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...ustoms/gtr.jpg
and you will really see this come out as the build progresses. The interior was influenced by a ferrari interior and a little by lambo. I designed the stripes several years back and finally got them on and I will show that when the car comes together more. just a little different racing stripe. kinda hard to get until it is done. I know this style isn't for everybody but there is a method to my madness. It is a firebird afterall....called wild turkey. I have just had so many restorations breaking up my time that it has come slowly, can't believe it will be done soon......THanks for all the imput and honest opinions

zingercustoms 02-25-2013 07:42 PM

Heres some more pics, front end, still gets lexan with black 1/2 ring painted on the lexan. black grill and some stripes on the bottom, and the fog light area will be blacked out as well with smoked fog lights. The grill is for the nose, just got them back from the machine shop and fit to front end.

Great quote and I totally agree with you, Skip.

Vince@Meanstreets 02-25-2013 10:36 PM

for the look you are going for I hope you have a set of yellow Brembos coming. Wheels look fine.

zingercustoms 03-03-2013 04:48 PM

here are some pics of interior coming together...been working around the clock, getting my wing done now. the shifter was all redone to remove b&m logo and customize with interior, The center console I built came out great, it is comprised of 9 hand made pieces not counting the lids. we made everything except the rings for the cup holders everything works, fits as planned. rear seats roll cage hoop are next and then the door panels and front seats. we have a suede headliner and all the amps are in. We have a custom sub box and trunk enclosure in process. the rear panels are figerglass, coated in soft touch clear and have suede inserts and leather arm pads. we have 2 1600watt infinity amps (one for each 10" woofer)and one 1200 4 way for the 6x9 infinities and the 6 inch woofer/mid and tweeter in the doors.

Wow, wow, and one moe wow!! Details are coming up amazing!! Very excellent crafstmanship!!

Hye what steering wheel si that and what about the Chief on the center?

thanks!

Gui

zingercustoms 03-04-2013 10:58 AM

Thanks...I made a mold off an old poncho emblem and thickened it up, and poured a glass/resin part of it....the steering wheel is a longacre racing wheel, it had a quick release but we made a mount and such for it to go on the gm column.

Chicken Louie 03-05-2013 05:15 AM

Inspiring Work

Went through the whole build pics again and Wow! The fiberglass and resin work is awesome! Love how you got the lines of the car to fit so well:thumbsup:

zingercustoms 03-05-2013 07:32 PM

be at detroit autorama tomorrow to set up..... 5pm

zingercustoms 03-06-2013 08:32 AM

the hood looked crooked int he pics, no latch installed......

zingercustoms 03-06-2013 01:20 PM

well, I had a great night last night finally after all this time gettin my car together, shared some great moments with some good friends working late and just seeing it all come together....and then one of the worst moments......I was backing the car up into the booth the touch up some stuff, all we needed was touch up, front seats in and some minor things and we were ready to head out at noon. I put the car in reverse as I have many times and backed into the booth...then put it into drive to straighten out....had my budy watching for me next to the car cause it was all masked off....i snuck forward and then the brake pedal dropped to the floor, i tried to get to park but the shifter is a ratchet style b&m and rather clumsy to shift from 1st to park, I had only seconds and it happened. Directly in front of me was my recently finished restored 1957 Tbird. I slammed it on the passenger side bumper/fender....just had the bumper $2000 chrome job done. THe front seats actually save rear of the tbird becuase it slammed into them and it didn't contact my garage door at all, just about shoved the driver seat throught the door tho.....actually the seat is fine, just poofed back up. Well the pictures tell the rest of the story....needless to say I am glad no one got hurt.....not sure what happened yet, just lost all pressure........worst day ever, still going to detroit tomorrow with a big bandaid on the car....won't let it beat me.....lots of cool stuff to look at still.

Lenie 03-06-2013 02:49 PM

Wow..my heart goes out to you. After waiting so long and working so hard with what appears to be an absolutely stunning car, it's like what next. Glad no one was hurt and hope things move smoothly for you in the future.

fleet 03-06-2013 03:01 PM

Josh,

I'm very sorry that happened to you.

Glad it wasn't worse of course.

Ron in SoCal 03-06-2013 03:26 PM

So sorry man. Glad you're not letting it beat you!

WSSix 03-06-2013 06:37 PM

Damn man. Sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you're still going. I'm also glad to finally see the car together and on the ground because now I can say I think everything you did worked out well. I hope the show is a success for you. I have no doubt people will be sympathetic to the situation and be able to see the quality of the work you've done regardless of the damage. Good luck

zingercustoms 03-06-2013 10:37 PM

Well...looks like I won't be going after all...my youngest 5 year old was just admitted to hospital...has flu and the wanted to monitor him. so.....thanks for all the comments and support. I think I will let my other two Kids play hooky tomorrow and take them out to breakfast....

Vince@Meanstreets 03-07-2013 01:14 AM

zingercustoms 03-07-2013 06:30 PM

intocarss 03-07-2013 06:42 PM

I feel your pain and Prayers sent for your son!

zingercustoms 03-07-2013 07:19 PM

thanks...means alot

WSSix 03-07-2013 07:56 PM

Seems like there are too many times in a life that when it rains, it pours. I Hope your son gets well soon. Sorry you're missing the show entirely. That doesn't change the fact that you did and can do good work. Keep that up, take care of the family, and everything else will fall into place.

Todd in vancouver 03-07-2013 11:12 PM

Majorly sucks about the cars but they are metal and can be repaired so more importantly I truly hope your son is OK because nothing puts the things in life into perspective faster then when our children are sick or hurt. Sending prayers and good thoughts to you and your family.

V8TV 03-08-2013 11:55 AM

That really sucks out loud, man. You did an awesome job on the 'Bird, I really dig the car. Hopefully it all works out for the best in the end.

fleet 03-08-2013 12:12 PM

Josh,

How's your son doing?

zingercustoms 03-08-2013 07:33 PM

I picked him and my wife up this afternoon...back to his old self. Turns out it wasn't flu but the rotavirus....kinda crazy most people don't get so sick with it but some do....man was he sick. He ate yesterday for first time since Sunday and kept it down. good now. Thanks for asking.

waynieZ 03-08-2013 09:30 PM

Glad he's home and feeling better.

WSSix 03-09-2013 02:32 PM

x2 glad to know he's well again.

zingercustoms 03-11-2013 11:49 AM

well we one 1st place in chopper category and Outstanding paint for all bike categories at the autorama.....car will be there next year for sure...met with adjuster today, seemed like an understanding car guy, he has done some of his own restorations so hopefully they don't cut my estimate down too much. we will see.

zingercustoms 03-11-2013 01:22 PM

Here are some pics of things we did get done and yet to show pics of
Ring bro hinges....like butter, well, they were, not so sure now.
http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...160005_096.jpg
When I pulled up tape from the engine cover buck....pulled chrome too....professional products was soooo cool...sent out new covers no questions asked. So we painted them up instead of vinyl.

The bird looks great too. It will turn some heads once it gets shown. I'm sure it'll all work out for you.

waynieZ 03-11-2013 05:24 PM

Congratulation's on the awards, I hope it took away some of the sting from what happened to the car. Awesome job!

zingercustoms 03-14-2013 04:03 PM

update

Update: I got with the adjuster, he let me write my own estimate to repair myself and then didn't argue with one single minute of labor...amazing. They did knock my hourly rate down, but I expected that...I get a check for each car minus my $500 deductable in full sometime next week. wow!!!! worked out so smoothly, selective insurance is awesome.
