Wow those picture make it look so simple, Wait till you try and explain how moving the tail lights up 3/4's of an inch makes a world of difference and how we came up with a spoiler that actually works on a convertible and it does not look like a whale tail.
Eric really has some good ideas and we work really well togther. You should see what we can do when Eric and I get to talking about spending Johns money on his car. That is when things really take off. :D :D |
Man that makes a HUGE difference!!! Nice design thought Eric. Don't let Rodger take any of the credit though... ;)
|
Nice and subtle.
Cleans up the back end nicely ! Great work guys ! |
The trunk lid mod came out nice, looks clean and like it could have come that way from the factory.

Spoiled...........
Here are a few pics of the latest spoiler design. The spoiler mocked-up in the 27-February-09 pics was too big (but we had to start with something). A convertible needs a subtle spoiler, so we talked and.........
The guys at IRONWORKS whipped their cardboard, some scrap sheet metal, and some blue tape and came up with the following design. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics027.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics029.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics028.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics031.jpg Next comes the task of building the real one. Damn, these guys are good! --Eric |
Yeah, but that design got improved when we decided to move the tail lights them selves and the reveal up .75 of an inch. Then we had it lookin good.
Rodger |
Very innovative!! Looks clean & subtle. I like it!

Tunnel Vision............
Update...........
Here are a few pics of the forward section of the tunnel. The goal is to maximize the interior space. Looks like I have a lot of room under the dash, but as we all know, it will get filled up. Check out the craftsmanship! http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics033.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics031.jpg Here are a few pics from the engine compartment. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics034.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...hoppics035.jpg --Eric |
That last pic looks like your entering the tunnel for Pirates of the Caribean at Disney land.

I went to Ironworks on Friday......... I'll post some updates later today or tomorrow. We went to the Knotty Pine for breakfast. I'm still full and I didn't even get the chicken-fried steak. I usually go to Ironworks on Fridays, but let me know when you can come down and we can meet on a Saturday if that works for you. --Eric |

Update.........
It's been a while since I've posted, so..............
Ironworks has accomplished quite a bit in the past few months. This photo is of Brycen (Nice shorts!) welding in a close-out panel for the cowl slots: http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/P1010001.jpg This is that start of the inner fenderwell up front. The rails were puchased from Chassisworks, but highly modified now: http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...28-2009001.jpg Here is shot of the inner fender well mock-up: http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...1--2009014.jpg --Eric |
Inner Fender Wells.....
A few more......
Here you can see the metal shrinking that was done to achieve the nicely curved inner panels: http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...2--2009002.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...2--2009001.jpg Here is the radiator in place to start the core support mock-up: http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...2--2009005.jpg I'll be posting the photos of the AWESOME core support soon (maybe while I'm the roadtrip to Columbus with Rodger)........ --Eric |
This car is just amazing, you guys do very very nice work.

Muscle Car Power Magazine!
Muscle Car Power Magazine has published an article on my Convertible!!! The article covers 4 pages.
http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n.../MCP_COVER.jpg --Eric |
were can I find the magazine?
|
Eric,
Congrats on you and Ironworks getting some ink. I will grab that issue asap. The last issue which was my first I bought of this mag was pretty good. Hopefully this mag sticks around for awhile. Dave |
Radiator Support
These pics are of the radiator support. Like the inner fenderwells, the support is all scratch-built.
I wanted to keep the basic shape of the original support, but I wanted Ironworks to put the radiator inside the top lip. As you can see, the aluminum radiator is fairly thick, so the top of the support had to be made just as thick. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/P1010058.jpg Since the new radiator is wider (side-to-side) than a stock radiator, the "hump" on top of the support was fabricated wider as well. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/P1010061.jpg This shot shows the top of the support intersecting the fenderwell after the initial fitting of the core support in the car (no headlight buckets yet). http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/P1010062.jpg --Eric |
Lookin good Eric

More Radiator Support Stuff......
The guys at Ironworks applied their magic and formed the ends of the support to match the slope of the inner fenderwells:
http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/P1010203.jpg http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n...a/P1010202.jpg If you look closely at the pics above, you'll notice that the headlight buckets are installed....... Check out how they contoured the sheetmetal. I wish I could do work like that...... Its just not fair! --Eric |
Very nice!
|
What about those hidden fender bolts?
|
Your kinda like magic:hail: .That looks Bad a$$ there Rog.
