Looks great Rich. Those fittings make all the difference, plenty of room now. Your right those are some nice hoses.

A little closer and almost done plumbing. Here's some Ron Davis porn and dont forget Mike's(MuscleRodz) tanks in the corner. I filled the core support from one end to the other.

Rich, the car is coming along very nicely. I just read the whole thread and am wondering about the steam vent mod, what is it? I have never heard of it. Another piece I am wondering about is the dry sump tank, that is from muscle rodz? |
Kevin, Thanks,
Im not an expert on LS engines, but I believe they vent off steam from both head water jackets and plumb it back to the radiator. Instead of bringing a hose all the way back to the radiator I dump it back in to the upper radiator hose at the water pump. It just makes for a cleaner install and not having hoses running all over. The two small black cylindrical tanks on the drivers side of the core support were fabbed up by Mike(MuscleRodz) one is a power steering reservoir the other is a radiator overflow tank. These were his prototypes, he did a nice job on them and I like the black anodize. Dry sump oil tank in the passenger corner. Hope this awnsers your questions- Rich |
Oh man, i did not see the overflow tank and the power steering reservoir until you pointed them out! Nice pieces:thumbsup: I was wondering about the dry sump tanks, Who makes them, I am in need of them and am wondering if there is something cheeper than the ones on the ATS site.

Peterson Fluid systems- They make it for ATS, can't tell you if its much cheaper, check it out here> http://www.petersonfluidsys.com/tank_special.html

Ok, back on topic! |
Fantastic build !!

Hey Rich, I go over your thread every once in awhile for some inspiration. How is the build coming along? It lookin like I'm gonna pick up a 67' Camaro from my brother-in-law. Its a roller with the paint and body finished.
|
Hey Steve,
Great to hear from you, the build is coming along good, I should be done under the hood by the end of December. Im waiting for my MAF to show up and complete the cold air intake. The 67 sounds like a great project, having the paint and body done is half the battle. Hey if want a DSE 3 inch drop leaf set up for the 67, its yours on the cheap. Im jonesin to install a CW g-link set up in the blue 67. Shoot me an email of the car, I would really like to see it. Good luck with it. Rich |
I made progress on the air intake and very happy with the way it came out. I purchased the alluminum tubing from spectre polished but ended up scuffing it real good with 600 then etch priming and painting. The MAF housing is from powrmax using the stock ls7 hitachi sensor. According to Scott that location for the air filter is real dirty so he suggested a pre-filter skirt that covers the air filter, got that on order(thanks for the heads up). All I need is a couple low/high note horns and Im ready to put the hood back on. Heres a few pics under the hood with the CAI.

It looks great Rich, nice job on the paint. Your moving along really good now it won't be long.
|
Thanks Rich and Wayne- Im shooting for spring for a ride but not rushing it. Im agonizing over buying the ring brothers space frame hinges- so nice - but so expensive! When does the bleeding stop building these cars :willy:
Thanks again Rich |
Looks killer Rich. Paint does look great.
Nice engine bay. |

Dan- That does seem high for a jap bike. My kid paid 3800 for the 748 its an 00 with 2k miles. I couldn't believe how clean it was, it was one of those dealership show bikes and sat on the floor for many years before it got sold, the kid who bought it got tired of it quick. My son has a level 1 cert from Ducati, he would really like to get a job working in one of there dealerships, of course there's not to many of them around.

I tried to be strong, the hinges were just to sweet. Went for the black ano.
http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...Picture079.jpg Made some progress, got the rear window regulators in and door handles/locks. Had to weld the seat back braces in and hopefully wont have to take the Mig torch out again, aint no fun welding with fully painted panels all around. Probably not smart but I covered myself and the welded area with a big blanket to prevent spatter from destroying my paint. After I modded the rear seat I had the guys at Creative auto interiors in Butler NJ cover the frames for me, they did a nice job. I decided Im going to do the headliner myself so I fitted the bows and all the little screws so I can find them once the headliner is hung. Also decided to get new window regulators for the front door glass, hope it helps tighten things up. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...cture074-1.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...cture076-1.jpg http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u...cture081-1.jpg |
Very nice Rich. Good call on those hinges. They look awesome with that paint.
|
Nice progress Rich, donated another pint of blood I see, Sweet. The seats came out nice. How was it adjusting the back windows?

As nice as it looks under the hood with the hinges, hardware, and that motor are you really going to use those stock fender braces. Just a few pints more.

Thanks guys- After the headliner Im gonna start on the exhaust and looking for the Corsa db red series mufflers part number 8332551 2.5" offset in and 2.5" center out. Found out there discontinued, and called Corsa but they dont have a recomendation on where to get them. If anyone has purchased them recently or has some info for me, it would be appreciated. Im hoping someone has some stock left over, I don't want the dreaded drone! Any other muffs out there that flow like hell are reasonably quiet at cruise and dont drone?
Thanks Rich |
Tackled the headliner over the last couple days, thankful to have this job behind me its a big one. Im very happy with how it came out, its my second one. My wife really helps me with this stuff, Im a lucky guy, she has a great understanding of fabric/stiched stuff and very helpful. She would kill me if I posted a pic of her, so I told her I got one of her tugging on the headliner from the back. In my area of jersey they are getting a grand to do this, so Im extatic to have saved a bit. The dash pad will be the next hurdle , I had to get a OER repro since we started with nothing on this build, Im really thinking it aint gonna fit so good, keep my fingers crossed and ill let you know. - Rich
