Glad to see you over here. A bunch of great builders and projects combined with some very knowledgeable members makes this site what it is.

I live in Martinez and theres a lot of other members from the Bay Area as well.
My car is at Ironworks speed and kustoms in Bakersfield having a total makeover.

What HRE's did you go with?

rich-allen 10-20-2008 11:29 AM

I went with HRE 893

Polished hoops and powder coated clear centers

Jr 10-20-2008 01:16 PM

Nice pick on the wheels...they look race ready.

Nice choice, Rich. I see a lot of HRE's on Porsches - I have the P40's on mine and love them.

What color powdercoating on your centers?

rich-allen 10-21-2008 05:46 AM

I went with a polished hoop and brushed centers, then had them powder coated to protect the brushed.

Oh, I didn't know you could powdercoat a non-color on top of the brushed finish. Cool.

Roll Bar

I wanted a fully functional yet least optrusive roll bar made to date. I think the boys at Ironworks are on the right track.
What do you think?

Rich that roll bar look AWESOME! I love the floor brace tied into the subframe connectors...those boys over at IW know their stuff.

Okay Rich,

So i've spent a bunch of time jotting down notes on how to build a Street Machine of the Year car for Good Guy's Columbus. So far your heading down the right direction. I think this car will have and has what it takes to be in the top five.

Keep up the good work guy's this car has all the right stuff.

mdprovee 10-24-2008 12:12 PM

Looking good Rich, I like the roll bar. That is the one thing I debated on my car.

Wow Marty, I appreciate the vote of confidence, it really means a lot coming from you. I really just want a car that looks a little different than most and drives different than most.

Agreed. That looks so nice and clean. Will it be NHRA legal for up to what ET's if you chose to do 1/4 mile?

Makes me want one too.

MtotheIKEo 10-24-2008 05:28 PM

Thats gonna be a tight fit welding around the top of the downtubes

ironworks 10-24-2008 05:35 PM

It will be easy. We have already laid that out. The cage will flip forward and drop down on the subframe bases we made. We have to make the front halo and down bars next week along with the front subframe connector bars that need to go around the F1.

Rodger sent a few more pics of the roll bar. As you can see the stock back seat will fit with minimal work. The tubing is 1.75" and you can bearly see it when the doors are closed. Killer work!

ironworks 11-13-2008 07:05 AM

wiedemab 11-13-2008 07:23 AM

Damn Rodger - you're flirting with the Dark side. Two Camaros............

How's about a 2nd Gen Camaro - hurry before I get tired of seeing them:D

The cage looks nice!

ironworks 11-13-2008 07:31 AM

There is 3rd one out back, that I own.......Don't tell the nova guys OK..

I would love to do a 2nd Gen, but I can only do what comes in the Door. The Dale jr 2nd gen is one of my all time favorites. I would also like to do a stock floor 1st gen nova. I love the full on cut the floor out from the firewall back and go to town projects, but the stock floor cars are gravy.

You know, I posted that thinking of 1st gen Camaro bumpers on a 2nd gen Nova.

I was driving home from work yesterday and realized that you said the opposite and were really joking. Sometimes I'm a little dense:P
