Front Spoiler

I believe we looked at Penny and agreed that we liked the clean look with out a spoiler.

The factory ones are cheap.. $25 each.. I've broken two so far. Well, actually Bret broke one of them. lol

My new policy is to run the el cheapo on at auto-x events or no spoiler. One thing it does really well is keep bugs from squishing on the suspension. Without a front spoiler I have to go under the car and wash all the dead bugs off of my control arms, rack and such. It's a PITA.

Sometimes no front spoiler will give the illusion that the front of the car is higher than it really is.

Here's a picture with no front spoiler...

How did my car end up in this thread??? :captain:

Honestly without the bumper I think the spoiler looks a little weird/out of place.

I figured Penny shouldn't have to hear that kinda talk!
:D

conekiller13 10-09-2008 12:21 PM

In those shots Penny sure looks to have alot of body roll. Time for higher rate springs?

jy211 10-09-2008 12:42 PM

Hey Comp,
Back to YOUR thread :D , any new shots of the car in process??? :unibrow:

comp-spec 10-09-2008 01:34 PM

Here's a quick few pics of the car. There really isn't much to see at this stage, we're just sanding parts and getting them ready for next week, when we'll be documenting the repair areas with Chuck Vranas for Camaro Performer, and I'll post some pics of the repairs then. The week after we'll be spraying some paint. Then there'll be lots to see

Here's a couple pics of the drip rail after we scraped the seam sealer out of it. The seam sealer was all the way to the top of the rail.

Well at least My steering wheel may make it into magazine..............

Keep up the great work guys!

awr68 10-09-2008 04:19 PM

Thanks for the pics!!

Progress is good!! Man I'm glad to see the seam sealer totally gone! Guys, you wouldn't believe how full the joints were on the car! Chris told me that it 'expanded over night'...but the real question is, why he would paint the car after seeing how bad the sealer job was the next day? There was no better time to fix it...hell it's not like he was in a hurry he had the car for 5 months! I'm thinking that he didn't really dig out the first sealer that failed (like he promised he would do and says he did), but just ran the new sealer over the old and that's why EVERY joint was filled.

Pete, I'm sure that digging out all the sealer wasn't a real fun job, thanks for doing it though!!

Let me know what day Chuck will be there!!

Not quite a scuff and shoot,we'll be stripping most of the jams and doing some repairs on the body. We'll show as we get there (next week) after repaired we reassemble and finish blocking the car together, then we'll take it apart for paint.
I don't think we have to get into stripping the whole body just lots of blocking and prep

Yeah it's a team effort! She has helped with all the design decisions from the beginning. Actually our first time to SEMA we spent days just shopping for seats...figured there would never be a better time to try on all the differant makes and models! She's been a big help....especially during the times when I just wanted to throw in the towel! Having an understanding car loving wife sure makes this hobby easier!!

Welcome Jennifer, I think I may have talk to on the phone looking for your husband,

DRJDVM's '69 10-10-2008 05:14 PM

I'm surpised you arent stripping it down more....

When I went to pick up my car (yes Chris ****ed up my car too....but not as bad...mines still in metal thank god), he mentioned something about rust bubbles on the deck lid. If theres rust bubbles on the deck lid, I'd be worried that theres hidden rust waiting to bubble somewhere else..... I'm sure Pete is looking for stuff like that but..... Chris told me he fixed it, but you know how the other "fixes" worked....

Tony....call me.... I know we played phone tag for a while and I keep meaning to call you but can never find the right time....

Then we can meet up at SEMA and have a few beers.....

Ned, I'm sure you're not trying to cause trouble.

Tonys car was sent here to be repaired. As of right now all we got to really get into was taking it apart and looking over what was done.
As I mentioned, next week we'll be documenting the repairs with Chuck Vranas for Camaro Performer.
We are known for our paint work and as we are repairing Tonys car, at any time I feel that a panel or a spot should be stripped there will be no short cuts and it will be stripped. There are some repairs that need to be taken care of that might require some of it to be stripped but, I won't know until I get into the repairs.
This is one of the reasons there are not many pictures up right now because, I don't want everybody to think that this is getting a "scuff and shoot". The people that checked out Tonys car know there is a little bit more to making his car right than a "scuff and shoot".
So follow along and watch the progress and then make your "judgement" on the outcome of the project. I know there's a lot of eyes on this car and a lot of people saying I would do this and he should do that but, the end result will speak for itself.

Vegas69 10-10-2008 09:14 PM

I would have paid to take it down to bare metal. I realize you are fixing the car on your dollar and that shouldn't be expected.

fleet 10-10-2008 09:19 PM

I think a 'media blackout rule' is a very effective and necessary tool sometimes.;)

To quote Herb Tarlek, General Sales Manager of WKRP; "Hey, if they don't know you they can't hate you!"

FIXING ON MY DOLLOR HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH STRIPPING THE CAR

Vegas69 10-10-2008 09:42 PM

I am not going to challenge you on stripping the car. That is between you and Tony.

Please,I don't want to get into a pissing match on stripping Tonys car.
Like I said if at anytime I think Tonys car needs to be stripped then we'll strip it.

Good enough Pete. I am not doubting you...many people I know have said good things about your shop. Never meant to be a pissing match.

I didn't write it, but it is worth repeating.

It sure sums up Pete's gift.

Sorry Pete..... I wasnt trying to cause trouble at all..... that was not my intention at all....sorry it turned into that type of post. My apologies.
