I think your picture should be in the dictionary under the word "Persistent". Good luck with the completion of the project. Looking forward to the resurrection!

Is Ironworks the 401k you mentioned on Facebook?:unibrow: Glad to see your car is back in gear. I'll get to see it next week.

It's unfair that you would hate on that firewall engine cover. It had built in wiring harness pass-throughs where the handles used to bolt to it. Plus that one was ultra custom. It was widened to improve the high level of stamped in Taiwan craftsmanship.

Jason- I'm going to need to cannibalize your tool shed to make my floors, and firewall. How much was the Tuffshed anyways?

I think this is another ploy to set up the car getting stolen again:rofl:

Looks like Rodger may have to set up some makeshift garage behind the shop. I think he's running out of room. Wheres Jason, he needs to frame up some additional sq. footage

Good to here its alive and staying at Ironworks in lieu of the metal box
condo.

Good to see you back at it. I was afraid I was going to beat you finished by default.

you better finish this car if not i will take leave and kick your ass HAHA... Congrats bro get her dun:cheers:

Teetoe_Jones 06-08-2010 11:28 AM

We are back baby! The car came out of it's metal coffin yesterday afternoon. It's a bit dirty, some tiny surface rust, but overall in better shape than I remembered. The car was even further along that I had known with the front suspension almost fully done.

The chassis table it has been mated with for over a year get slid out of the container.

The car on its way back inside. She may not look like much now. But she is drinking milk (and chromoly)and pretty soon....

http://i48.tinypic.com/5l6k9z.jpg

The rear C5 Corvette Euro tail lights already look dated to me. It was cool 10 years ago, but now? Not so much. I'm going to make a new rear tail panel from a sheet of carbon that will use the Marquez Design billet 68 rear tail lights and maybe, just maybe I'll even add a RedHead dry break rear filler for the Fuel Safe where the stock gas cap lived.
http://i46.tinypic.com/2lvcnqs.jpg

More to come as I get updates from Rodger at Ironworks.

Where are the updates?

Teetoe_Jones 06-16-2010 03:46 PM

I told Rodger he could start on the car when he is damn good and ready. He is trying to get that sick ass truck ready for the body shop so mine will sit quietly and wait. I'd say mid July you will see some nice updates but as of today it has a spot inside again! He was cool with me while it stalled for a year, so I'll be more than cool with him as he finishes off other projects before tending to mine.

Well that and the fact Mary who owns that "sick ass truck", has a great big 45 caliber pistol in her purse and she has been waiting patiently for a 1948 Chevy truck for 40 years. SEMA here we come.

Teetoe_Jones 07-01-2010 11:43 AM

Went to visit my car last week. Got some parts in for the build like these new Tilton floor mounted triple pedals.

http://i47.tinypic.com/23sbu3c.jpg
http://i48.tinypic.com/6egp7d.jpg

Got to check out the frame in person and check out the fantastic tube work.
The way they mounted the factory aluminum cradles is pretty sweet. If I need to repair anything I just pop the upper ball joints and shock mounts, and 8 cradle bolt and the entire suspension, drivetrain and engine unzip from the car.
Drivers side front cradle mount:
http://i48.tinypic.com/34yv9s0.jpg
Same side, top view.
http://i50.tinypic.com/2dt5093.jpg

Other cool details like how they made the tubing spacers integrate into the upper coil over mounts are pretty sweet.
http://i46.tinypic.com/14t8neg.jpg
http://i48.tinypic.com/etdvg1.jpg
http://i45.tinypic.com/34j21p3.jpg

So the first of a few bummers was that since we are using the factory C5 cradles, suspension and engine placement I can't use the ATS Sidewinder accessory drive that I had been saving. The steering rack to balancer clearance will only allow use of the factory Y body accessory drive; without repositioning the engine further rearward, redoing the mounts, firewall and torque tube that is. I'm not willing to change that much stuff. I'd rather keep it factory in case I need a replacement part.
Second bummer is I had a set of ATS Tri-Y headers set aside for this car too, and with the crazy tubes catching the cradles and making the inner torque tube structure, there is no way these bad boys will fit either. We will see if Rodger can modify some tubes to make them clear, and if not both the Sidewinder and Tri-Y headers will be up for sale.

Next on the list is to wait for the Fuel Safe and Ron Davis radiator to arrive and they will make the floors, firewall, and radiator support. We are going to follow the C5R layout and tilt the top of the radiator toward the grill and allow it to vent out the hood via an extractor.

Should start seeing some progress around August.

Let me guess. You purchased Rich Allen's car? You will not be disappointed. Hell it has HRE wheels. Every car that HRE wheels is automatically kickass. Don't believe me?
One Lap Camaro. HRE wheels. Scott Gulbranson's 69. HRE wheels. My 50/50 car. HRE wheels. Dave's 69 tube chassis at IWSK? HRE wheels with CARBON HOOPS!

Sure did buddy :D

I'm sure your aware as it appears to have your carbon fiber valve covers. Can I take off the coil bracket and use you coil relocation kit?

Oh, and I have Forgelines on my 69. LOL! Just thought i'd let you know :unibrow:

ironworks 07-01-2010 02:05 PM

SO your telling me, I have to return the "OFFICAL" True Temper wheel barrow I bought last night in 50/50 green? Well let me tell you....PAL. Whether you use it or not your gonna get charged for it. Believe me. The Fashionista has some sweet Stanley shovels to make muffler pockets in the rear.....

OK Seriously,I thought you said we were going to move the engine back to run a stock torque tube. That saves money right there. Plus what firewall? I already cut out the ************* wheel barrow you had in there before. Can't we just buy a deep wheel barrow for the new firewall. True Temper said if you leave the stickers and wooden handles intact they will sponsor you 100% if you put the car in their booth at the Home and Garden show.

Come on man, focus---Panel Gap Spray--we'll make millions.

Tyler, how much carbon fiber will this project get on it? The works? Maybe I missed the completed version drawing---what's the target weight when done--I know about the weight distribution---

So the work has begun. They started making the floor, and they are fitting the front sheetmetal to begin core support fabrication and to terminate the frame ends. Not much to see, but at least it is in the big area with all the other cars again; I hope it plays nice with the other children.

The drivers side floor begins construction:

My dream engine that I can't afford:
http://i25.tinypic.com/1zo9u2x.jpg

The sheetmetal getting installed:

Fenders in place, getting ready to mock up the 50/50 signature front air dam:

More of the floor installed, and some panels on the passenger side:
http://i28.tinypic.com/sv0t8i.jpg

Rodger tells me that he might be checking my HRE wheels on the chassis later. I am really excited to see it when it is off the table, wheels and sheetmetal in place and a roller again. What a day that will be.

Tyler
