Well we did not make it to back to the fifties with the car.after a couple of trips to the emergency room with my wife I pulled the pin on rushing to get this done and decided to just get it done when it comes along.Really making progress but still a long way from being done. Got my torq converter ended up going with a yank 3000 multi disk. this should wake this pig up out of the hole 2.6 60 ft. times are not so good.Hope to get things assembled this week.
Thanks Dave over at yank for all his help with getting me hooked up with the converter!

Thanks for the advice this normally holds true with anything. But I have this self made deadline in my head to get this thing fired up and drivable by car craft and for a change it worked only small glitches in my plan. The big thing is it is on the road and now We can just chip away on the never ending list. stay tuned for more turbo madness!

E.rodz 07-27-2012 10:12 AM

well we made it to car craft with the car that was a plus. but still alot of work to do to the car yet.the transmission works awesome feel alot better after replacing the plug wires that burnt on the headers even though we had insulating wrap on them they still burnt through them what a difference 8 cylinders make insted of 3. Also looks like relocating the tranny cooler is in order!
http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/IMAG1446.jpg
http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/IMAG1503.jpg
oh theres more but having it move on it's own power is a great step in the right direction!

E.rodz 07-30-2012 12:21 PM

Well after the first week of driving the car we limped it home three seperate times the first was the plug wires, second she died on the side of the highway with no fuel pressure. :( left the car got a ride from a nice guy driving a 79 trans am. loaded my truck up with some gas and some straps to tow it home if needed went to leave and remembered I robbed all the plug wires off it to get the car back to car craft.:( just then a friend of mine pulled up and gave me a ride back to pick up the car pulled off the gas cap air completly rushed in the car started right up and ran fine.wtf.the gas cap decided it did not want to vent? went out for another drive got to play around with my friend and his 62 sunbeam with a turbo focus motor super sweet car! took some sweet video then ,Not AGAIN! both the front air lines for the front suspension blew at the same time.!! there is the car sitting on the tranny cooler in the middle of the road! the lines ran next to the tranny lines and apperently got hot enough to melt the air lines! this could of been way way way worse. just wait tell you see the video.the jack that I bought for emergency tire changing broke! dodged another bullet there could have been under it when that happened!!!.so there is alot more to go.so stay tuned for more debugging.success or failure it could go either way!

E.rodz 08-15-2012 10:36 AM

if so here it is check it out and please don't be shy let me know what you think.

ANY GUESSES ON SOME 1/4 MILE TIMES?
Going to bring it to the drag strip next weekend and My friend Carl just finished tuning it in and It feels just awesome why did I wait so long to go turbo????????? The goal for the weekend is go on a long cruise pulling the camper trailer drive 1 1/2 hrs and go racing then hook the trailer up and drive home.It did not work so good last time we broke the rearend and had to get towed home hopefully this will work this time.!!

E.rodz 10-26-2012 10:26 AM

Wow were does the time go?been driving the hell out of the belair getting things dialed in a bit checking things off the list and adding things to it. Built a twin stage nos. system for my friend Carl Thomas of cj tunes if anyone in mn. intrested in getting some tuning done this is the guy your looking for he is one of the best in the buisness shot a video of thrashing on his car to get it ready for a day at the drag strip.here is a link for ya if interested.

just took the belair out for a spin this weekend! it has been winter in MN.until this weekend so it has been just crazy cabin fever. it was nice to go out and put some miles on the car, however it opened up a ton of new thing to do to the car! making up a new list of things to do. I will post up and show progress of my new list of da do list!
http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/IMAG1791.jpg
HERE IS OUR TEST AT THE DRAGSTRIP. STILL A WAYS TO GO BUT MAKING PROGRESS!

E.rodz 06-06-2013 12:22 PM

Well it looks like we will be doing it again! last minute rush to get the car back on the road I am not sure how it always works out this way but it never fails this is how it goes all the time.:disgusted: I paid a guy to help me wire the car up with a pos.wire harness while I worked on the frame and suspension he wired the car for me discusted, disapointed and flat out mad after climbing under the dash and seeing the rats nest that was provided for me.
Enter RON FRANCIS WIRE WORKS:thumbsup: I have done the entire harness in my truck using on of there kits and the quality was second to none the tech support is just awesome! I figured it is time to clean this clutter up and build a new harness so I ordered a new harness from RON FRANCIS and will be posting up progress on the install.also ordered a new dash from dakota digital and a new steering column and wheel to finish replacing all of the old worn out parts. my goal is back to the fifties show in two weeks! what the f was I thinking!

Wayne just don't jiggle the wires and you will be fine.lol.yep so far this is not so fun!under a week and a half to go!

GregWeld 06-11-2013 07:52 AM

Wiring is very simple --- YOU JUST ONLY DEAL WITH ONE WIRE AT A TIME.... it's not about ALL the wiring....

When I'm wiring a fireworks show -- and each shell has it's own electronic address... I don't look down the barge and think that there are 4500 addresses.... NOPE! I look in my hand that's holding one pair of wires - and just plug them into where they need to be.... and then pick up another one and do it over again. One pair at a time.

Wow does time fly! lets try to get things up to date.still some loose ends on the wiring the Ron Francis wire works kit was the bomb. I had one that I installed in my 81 chevy truck and thats why I went back to them the quality is awesome and the support is just great and they are down to earth people too! the Dakota digital dash was also a great choice and looks awesome I have taking some great time lapse and video of the install and hope to get it all put together soon so stay tuned for that. made it to back to the fifties just averaged about three hrs. of sleep for weeks on end here ae some progress picts.

here is were thing can just go wrong! decided to paint the dash a flat black so the glare on the winshield is not so bad.the flat comes from a additive that is added in the clear 1/2 of the paint turned out great 1/2 turned out shiny as could be????????? I have no idea how this could happen same batch mixed well at the same time.:disgusted: so now it is time to wet sant the entire dash and trim pieces!

I can't believe an experienced guy like you would drill sheet metal with a twist drill.... Dude! Bust out the step drills and make a nice clean hole!

turnhard 07-10-2013 12:55 PM

For your flat black try using john Deere blitz black you can get a gallon with a gallon of reducer for less than $70 at any john Deere store. It wont get chalky and has a nice sheen. Kevin

lol. I have just about every size step drill made and you are right they are the bomb for sheet metal this shot though I just had to open up a hole to the next size and the step drill would not fit.good trained eye you have. That is not saying that I won't do something stupid next time.lol

Man is this summer flying by! after getting a late start on summer events it really feels great to get some bugs work out of the car and get some miles on it. Really got to test it last weekend went up to Brainerd Mn. on the powercruise, great event with lots to do for everyone brought my son and two of my nephews with to go camping, road racing, and drag racing. pulled the camper up with us. Clark Grizwald would be proud!:hitaxeonthehead: the car is handling awesome and the turbos are doing there job.
