Final panel installation and alignment.

Alignment is great on the passenger side everywhere. Driver side is another story. We are tight at the cowl and wide at the header. We have decided to put the car on a rack and check the subframe alignment and see if the cowl could be off on the drivers side. We could make everything fit with the sub and cowl in their current position but I am not comfortable with that. If the car is apart...do it once...do it right.

Looks great. Good work.

Had the frame guy come and look at the cowl but everything seems to be pretty close. Ended up relief cutting and doing some adjustments to the fender mount locations and that has given us a lot more adjustment than the factory ever allowed for, which in turn has helped out the gaps a ton.

Very good. Good job on the gap adjustments.

DOOM 11-18-2010 04:45 PM

Is the header panel aftermarket?? It looks like in picture 2 that the hood peak is not center with the header peak. Anything aftermarket I would question. Some of this stuff is absolute garbage!!!! I'm pulling my hair out with this crap

waynieZ 11-18-2010 06:03 PM

Nice progress..

The header is aftermarket. They wanted to get the fender to hood gaps perfect and then were going to do some adjustments to the header. It needed some relief cuts and welding to get it to fit properly. It was that or put 2X as much labor into the original that was twisted and beat up pretty bad. We did put a gauge on the nose of the hood and the heel of the header and they were pretty close.

Finally all the body work is done!! Some good pics of the overlap weld repairs to the lower fenders where we hide to splice in new lower sections. Everything in slick sand and ready for assembly for the final boarding. Blow it apart after that and do final prime and prep for color.

Once they board out the whole car in the assembled stage, they blow it apart for final prime, board out everything again, and then to paint.

Very cool. Will be on the lookout.

g356gear 12-02-2010 09:31 AM

It looks good . I like when someone takes the time to fit the grill to the fenders it makes such a difference.

Garnet Red is the color. I toyed with burnished brown for a bit but decided to go original.

Burnished Brown is a killer color. Rare color indeed. I've only seen that color once in person and it looks great. Garnet Red is awesome as well.

g356gear 12-16-2010 02:33 PM

Put the car up on the hoist prior to final prep to deal with some rocker dents that the car had. While it was up in the air I had the 4 link welded in place. I never was super confident in having the cradle just bolted in place....especially if the car is getting more power.
