The back of the wheel is drilled for a normal Chevy bolt pattern. Then, this pin drive adapter is bolted to the wheel using special lugs. Those lugs fit inside the holes drilled in the back of the wheel and keep it from spinning. The center nut tightens the wheel against the brake to keep everything in place.

I love the knock off design wheels, which makes me wounder why we don't see more of it.

Is it a safety issue, cost or practicality, etc???

Availibility. As can see, this was a total custom deal.

That wheel design was a big deal in the 70's. Lil John and Boyd started that back in the with the AMBR 33 ford roadster of Jamie Musselman .Allan Budnik of Budnik Wheels(one of :lateral: vendor) used this design while he was working for Hot Rods by Boyd.He can build them for you.:unibrow: :unibrow:

No more hijack. Budnik, I asked, they said no.

Kendall Burleson 07-09-2009 04:25 PM

Allan wouldn't build them for you? ask Mike Curtis I think he was around Boyd right after Alan left.We still have the wheel in the shop.I'm going to look for a shot of them and I'll PM you.

One of the best builds I've ever seen! I joined this forum just to watch this build but I'm sure I'll find much more here that interests me.

Ken, you've got a PM.

Video

Here is a video that I took at Columbus on Friday. I'm having trouble with the file format - getting it to upload to Vimeo in HD. This is a lower quality version. I'll post the HD version once I get the issues worked out.

Well, it has been almost a week since we found out that we had won the SMOY, and it still hasn't really set in yet! To win the award that we have always looked up to is incredible... too hard to put into words. There were some great cars out there this year and even better to see everyone beating on them in the Auto X.

We really appreciate all of the support and positive comments we have been receiving on this build through Lateral-G. It really got everyone here motivated reading the posts about the car. The amount of times I heard "I've seen this build on Lateral-G....." was insane.

We have an incredibly tallented group of guys here that is second to none. This car could not be built with out their whole hearted effort, talent, and dedication to completing the car for Columbus. I can not even count the number of 70 - 80 hour weeks everyone put in towards the end.

A lot of great companies were onboard as well to help build this truely 1-off vette. A big thanks goes out to everyone for their part in this car.
