Did big willow a bit back. Some horrible pix.
http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_0188.JPG A little predictable sliding http://lh4.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1513.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1514.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1515.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1516.JPG RSR hot on my tail http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1517.JPG nice drift http://lh4.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1805.JPG Easy rider helmet got a lot of laughs... http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S5...0/CP2_1900.JPG At big willow I was having problems with the brakes going to the floor. I'd have to pump them before every turn. Turns out the Wilwood Dynapro's are NOT designed for actual track racing. Show touring brakes. Pretty, but don't push them too hard. . The Dynapro's calipers were ballooning under pressure. Very scary. The center bolt in the caliper like on the SL6 is a MUST for anyone tracking their vehicle hard. The incident could have killed me easily had I not reacted quickly enough and pumped the brakes. Why they sell those calipers I have no idea. Maybe it was an isolated incident with my particular configuration? After diagnosing the problem with guldstrand, Wilwood admitted the brakes were insufficient for my application and upgraded me to SL6's. Great customer service on their part and I'll provide them some feedback next track outing. I did a road trip and drove the car from LA to Indio CA and around the Salton Sea. It averaged 15mpg in 5th and I got there in a half tank. Amazing. I need new window weather stripping asap. The windows howl... Girlfriend loved the roadtrip and said it rides great. Air conditioning would be nice, but it goes against everything my car stands for. Stopped at this amazing house after a detail and took some much needed updated photos. Yes I actually had the car cleaned  Note the Jake's rod shop spoiler. Had it powder coated to match the wheels/front spoiler. http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S9...0/IMG_6919.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S9...0/IMG_6912.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S9...0/IMG_6906.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S9...0/IMG_6904.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S9...0/IMG_6901.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/__OT3YJ9o9Ao/S9...0/IMG_6890.JPG For now, its my daily driver. Continental is in the shop getting a rear end rebuild and the mini is getting the R1 swap done. |
some footage from big willow
and some data from trackmaster on android on my Motorola Droid: http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/4...aph2010031.png http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/6...pm20100310.png http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/4...eter201003.png app is cool. Not sure GPS speedo is accurate. It was way off on the drive up. But the checkpoint system with split markers is brilliant. $5 app that does $800 worth expensive logging gears work. |
Camaro looks nice Dane, don't know if I have seen it that clean.

VERY NICE! |
thanks guys. Been daily driving it while the minis being built. Gets 8mpg around town and 17mpg on the freeway which is surprising to me...

Dane, you have great style when it comes to cars my man.
Diggin the new wheels. |
The wheels look Bad A. I read yours and Flash 68 s threads the other day, while I was waiting on the electrician, Whew! Awesome cars, one day I hope to be racing with ya'll. You both have great taste in your builds. Dane what about the Blue 69 in your avatar? Is it still around , or did it make room for your gold car? One of a kind car, intense. I've enjoyed the thread.

What size tires are you running on the 17's? I bought a set of cheap 17's for my car but tire size options seem more limited than I thought they would be.
Love the easy rider helmet...is it a new helmet you had painted or is it an old helmet? (Does that make sense?) thanks, Dave |
Hey Rogue... Lovin that Lincoln too!
|
nice car!!!! please be safe in driving... :)
|
Im not a 69 Camaro project thread seeker, cause they tend to be just the same kind of buying expensive parts and too much bling..
Yours totally diffrent:thumbsup: . I like the track day spirit, and the mods done to the car to get it better at the track..real stuff!! |

The helmet is a legitimate 1970s DOT helmet with Number 07 on the back. I guess it was fate that I came across it. I brought it as a joke and they actually let me run it. :D I do need to get my real trackday helmet painted like it. It has some great Patina! |

From a recent photoshoot with UFC heavyweight Champ Josh Barnett (Super Friendly Gearhead as well!). He stood in the center of the parking lot while I did donuts around him. I was NOT going to risk getting my jaw broken! :headspin: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9...022_145524.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-i...022_150900.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-u...022_151958.jpg I've got a new front aluminum splitter coming from Jakes Rod shop and some other Vintage Trans am goodies from Jake as well! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-q...o/IMG_5091.jpg Then its time to Cage the car... I need a fuel pump as well. My holley blue is so loud and obnoxious! |
I know this is an old thread....
Any more on that car? Lead. |
Dane:
Your GC Camaro is still one of my favorites. Have ypu done any more track days? What all has been going on with you? Ty |

I recently had the TKO600 pulled to replace a bad pilot bushing and bleed the clutch. The clutch/shifting is MUCH better now and its much more enjoyable to drive. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v...027_105431.jpg Pilot bushing in its bad state!: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Z...113_140100.jpg The Holley blue fuel pump is taking a dump on me. I had to smack it with a hammer to get it running the other day, so I ordered an Aeromotive 11209. I'm contemplating swapping my leaky fuel tank (throught he vent when full) for a Aeromotive 340 submersed fuel pump/stainless tank. There have been times when I have pushed the gas in the tank past the pickup, stalling the motor. Never on the track though, its always when flipping a u-turn or something.... The baffles in the aeromotive stealth tank would help. But I'm not sure its worth the upgrade. Any issues with the 11209 and I'm going to replace the fuel system front to back with aeromotive AN. I recently got a fresh set of Toyo R888s for this track season, and a new sticker to mess with the hipster kids in my neighborhood ;) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-J...114_124602.jpg :D I've got a random rear seat/trunk/leaf spring clunk that I can't track down. I believe it may be the torsion bars that hole the trunk lid up as the rubber is gone off them. I've been trying to track down the issue but have yet to convince someone to ride in the trunk ;) I still have the Aluminum front spoiler from Jake's rod shop, but don't believe I'll be mounting it except for track days. I have a track event coming in March out at chuckwalla. I am looking forward to stretching its legs. Driving it around LA is so frustrating with the traffic :underchair: |

The pic with all the trans pieces is pretty slick! |

Big thanksfor getting onto the 17" minilites. What size did you get ??? Ive been trying to track down a set for ages, but only found ET & Vintage wheels,....sorry the look wasnt right for me either. Im chasing a pair of 17x8s for the front n 19x9s or9.5s for the rear.. Im probably being rude but could you tell me the cost ??? Regards AL. |
What up Daign... did you get the front Jake's spoiler on yet? I just see the rear...
|
Good to hear from ya Dane, glad to see you're still floggin' the Camaro! I've always been a fan of your Camaro.
