Mario its silicone bronze rod with the tig. Honestly I think we ran out of steel rod and used the bronze. I like it, grinds like butter and is plenty strong for the sheet metal work. I try to tig as much as I can. It hammers out and grinds easy. I also use the mig so I don't know if one is better or worse I just found that I kind of use both. Just my unprofessional opinion.

    Your skills are exceeding more and more Jason.

You going to Rodgers open house?

Hey Jason, Kind of slow with a new baby LOL! I was able to get one of the first front bumpers and it's an awesome piece. I'll be working on the Ring Brother quarter gilles next. I hope to have a full roller this summer. Ron

Ahhh. I understand now . Shows how much I know. I never thought you could tig with bronze.. I just purchased a tig but I know nothing about how to use it .

Jason, I hate to think that your very creative and so well executed fab work will be covered up by something as pedestrian as carpet. :wow:

I see only one solution...install the insulation and cover it with duplicate panels of your fab work. :D

Or, do what you want.

~MLC~ 04-07-2010 04:53 PM

VERY VERY Nice Work, It's Great to see car like this getting built!

Nick.V70 04-08-2010 10:53 AM

Nice, Jason if you get bored on yours you can come and hang out over here, I'll feed you and give you plenty to drink (Beer, Soda, Jack .... etc..). I have a ton of parts sitting here but have not found the motivation to really get anything done. OK Motivation is there just been busy.

I am just happy to kinda know a guy that has such a bad ass car:lol:

It keeps on looking better!! Awesome work!!

TonyHuntimer 04-11-2010 12:30 AM

Sorry I didn't get back to you, I just noticed this.

I haven't installed the dash yet.

fleet 05-26-2010 05:07 PM

Did you fabricate the bar you've raised?

:D

Al Moreno 05-26-2010 05:25 PM

This car is getting ridiculous! If you keep fabing stuff for it, you’re going to have to enter it for the Ridler. Greta work, keep it up.

Cris@JCG 05-26-2010 05:36 PM

As always Jason.. Very impressed with your work! Looking forward to the exhaust system you are gonna build! :D

I must need some more tools... nothing I've ever built looks anywhere near this good!

Oh wait... is there a "skills store" around here somewhere? :woot:

War 05-26-2010 06:25 PM

Thanks for the comments, I appreciate that.

I have a question for someone that might know. I have to redo the pedals because of moving the pivot point back. What is the rod travel on the clutch master? I believe the hrdroboost is 15/16" but don't know about the clutch.
http://i370.photobucket.com/albums/o...0829240003.jpg

I'm going to use another hiem on the brake and the pivot will be behind the arm so I want to get the ratio right.

waynieZ 05-26-2010 07:46 PM

Jason Awesome work. I love the idea of moving the Hydraboost and clutch master back like that It will be a lot less cluttered in that area. This build is amazing.

Payton King 05-27-2010 06:30 AM

The ratio

that everyone tries to shoot for on the clutch is 6:1, which I think is the factory ratio. I personally have mine about 4.5:1 as I like a quick clutch. It is a little tough to get use to on the starts, but you can really bang the gears once you get rolling.

I noticed you are using the Mcleod master. If I am not mistaken it is a 1 inch bore instead of the Gm 7/8's bore. Make sure you speak with the clutch manufacturer about that. I had one of those and I could not use it with my Textralia clutch as the extra flow would invert pressure plate fingers. Obviously if you are going with Mcleod it will work fine. You probably knew this but a heads up just incase.

Really an outstanding car you have going. I would scuff it and shoot clear on it. I would had to cover all of that fantastic work!

ironworks 05-27-2010 06:34 AM

Looking good.

1 Question did you make the steering wheel drop down bracket from a Garden shovel? Just curious....

Seriously looking forward to you moving to Bako....

Payton,

The GM is 3/4" bore Mcleod is 13/16" Tick performance sells an 4th gen F body upgrade with a tilton 7/8" bore. I fabricated a custom mount and used a tilton 7/8" master. I have only driven the car a few miles with the new setup, one thing I notice getting into reverse is much easier.

Jason,

I would not worry about ratio on the clutch, you have the opportunity to set it up to your liking. Personally I would ditch the Mcleod, I chased an intermittent problem with mine even after a rebuild, use a tilton, they are quality units.

RECOVERY ROOM 05-27-2010 09:14 AM

DAMN...Your kinda good at this stuff..

Teetoe_Jones 05-27-2010 09:40 AM

Typically max travel on a plastic T56 master is 15/16". Any further it bottoms out and cracks and leaks. That looks like a McLeod master to me, so the travel should be the same if it is for a T56 application.
I like your use of recycled garden shed tools to make hot rod parts. Might be a market for stuff like that. Seems unfair you have such talent.

See what I did there?

Tyler
