I guess time for an update. I was out of the office actually on business 22 of 31 days last month. Insane.

Frank's Insane Pick is coming along and just about ready for Paint. Hopefully next week. Frank told me yesterday he would not add one more thing. I not sure we could come up with one more option.

We have the hood swinging and latching

http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010063.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010061.jpg

We have the Tailgate latching and opening with the slick laser cut handles to be replaced with Machined units.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010034.jpg

I guess we are also in the hood hinge market now. We made 1 set of hinges since nobody has made these. And they are probably the worst units on the market.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010037.jpg

We made a Cold air intake system inside the passenger inner fender
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/t...ber2010053.jpg
It take air in through these behind the grille.

The Giveaway car is painted and sitting on a powder coated chassis awaiting a few vital non existent parts to finish assembly.

Kenny has more pics I hope. But this and a TXT pic are all I have seen.

Here is picture of the chassis just before Powder coat and SEMA.

What's this center console out of? Or is it custom?

Flash68 12-08-2010 08:47 PM

Nice update. Anxious to see your shop in a couple months.

Stuart Adams 12-09-2010 04:50 AM

Looks like the shop runs just fine when your gone!!

Looks like alot of work in there. Congrats on all the projects.

ironworks 12-09-2010 07:43 AM

Yeah things went pretty well while the boss was away. I have some good employee's.
4 years ago when I moved from the 3800 Sq ft shop to this 10,000 sq ft shop, I thought we would never fill this sucker up, We had a BMX bike we rode across the shop to the bathroom, because we though the shop was "SO BIG". Now My shop is to full I have Tri-5 chassis's everywhere and prototype Chevelle stuff along with all kinds of projects. It is funny how this Insane truck has snowballed into what it is. I have guys waiting for Frank to get done cuz they took a break on money for a few months and he stepped up and had this truck built in a very short period of time.

Maybe I should actually take a vacation...... Yeah right where would I go?

We are supposed to shoot some pics for a possible cover later this week or next for Street Rodder Magazine. It would be cool to see this thing on the cover of something. The customer would be super excited.

What a killer looking truck. Looks amazing Rodger. Very nice. Post up some pics of the bare metal photo shoot, if you can. A LS9 sounds awesome!!

how about some info on the impala next to it? what's going on there?

ironworks 12-10-2010 05:15 PM

There is a like to some of the work done to the Impala we have done on my website. Mainly just interior and under hood sheetmetal work. The majority of work to the car was done in another shop.

Chevelle Chassis update. We are just about ready to cut and form prototype chassis #2. Eric is finishing up some details. But I figured I would share some solidworks drawings. I do not have pricing yet but it looks to be right about 20K as a complete roller, Just no brakes or wheels and tires at that price. It will accept a 335/20 in the rear and not sure on the front yet. We had to do some major work to over come some big issues to get the ride height we have achieved on this project. Well enough Hub Bub.

We will begin accepting deposits in the next few weeks and off some introductory pricing to the first few orders.

And believe it or not, I'm not sure I'm a fan of the dimple dies in the rear crossmember. I know hard to believe.

It should say ironworks instead of the dimple dies, so you see it when your under the car or when its on a lift.
Its also called brand marketing.

26 and 28 inch tires.

We will be changing the measurements to a 70 we are taking measurements from later this week.

The 68-72 is very similar but different. But the basic design will be the same.

I think we will do the Ironworks script like the Tri-5 chassis.

And you guys though we only did things for the Man of the house. Here is a Dining room table we are doing for a Lady we met at the Scottsdale show.

LOL. Thats a damn cool table!

ironworks 12-21-2010 07:48 AM

Here is another Table I'm working on for another customer. The top section will also be dimple died around the up right of the C channel. But putting that in Solidworks to be cut 2D is beyond me. If you do it when the plate is flat it is gravy.

I would do the IRONWORKS on the cross member.

That would look nice done in a combination of brushed and polished surfaces.

If it was for me - I'd do boxed tubing with dimple dies on both sides...

Yeah me to, but that would triple the cost of the legs. Once the dimple dies are in the top piece it will really help. I thought about dimple dieing the legs but then they would be different on each side.
