Clayton Machine Works
Clayton Machine Works helped out BIG TIME by working with us to get us the 1st set of Black Anodized "new style" Door Handles and Window Cranks. He also provided us with Billet Brake Arm Assembly w/ Pad & Some trick Billet Trim that we will use on several pieces during the remaining portion of the build. Clay is a true Hot Rod enthusiast who has a real passion for designing and producing billet components for the aftermarket. His creations are all works of art. If any of you have worked with Clay in the past or purchased his parts, then this is no surprise. For those who have yet to, enjoy.... (even the packaging is a work of art)
Fits 1949-up GM & Ford. Door Handles - Part Number PT-202 Window Cranks - Part Number PT-203 Contact Clayton Machine at 256.489.2450 to place an order. Very nice.:wow:

And were gonna race out there with our big trailers. Thanks buddy.... |
Steve where did you get your tail lights? Are they Fesler?
Thanks Doug |
Doug,
We made the tail lights in house. I am not 100% on them and probably too lazy to perfect them. There are other companys who make great billet parts for production and do a great job doing so. No need for another. |
Dash
|
Love that dash! Does the screen in the middle open or anything? Great job, can't wait to see it done. My first car was a '67 Chevy II that I still have, you can't beat the body style!
|
Very nice. Looks amazing.

Interior Details
Thanks Tony !
Robbie.... the car has no stereo and without one that center area was too plain. It does not open. Its a fixed accent piece for now. The "mesh" was an idea I had for a while and just couldnt find the right project for it. After some thought we decided to powdercoat the perforated mesh and use the white leather as a background. I am very happy with the result. I can only take credit for the idea and colors. My long time upholsterer Mike gets ALL the execusion credit not to mention perfecting my idea. Here are some detail photos: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0693.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0694.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0695.jpg |
As mentioned, Clayton Machine really came through with providing us with the 1st set of Black Anodized door and window handles. This shows the attention to detail and how everything that was previously planned is finally coming together. It almost looks like it was meant to be this way

Looks good, I am doing a Charcole and cream combo in the shop now so I like your color choices
|
Very nice. Great color combos.

Not much to update on.... we've been busy doing tedious items like laying dynamat, wiring etc. But I did get it outside for a few quick shots.....

I love this thread. The car looks great.
|
Thanks Shannon..... I would love to show how I wired up your remote trunk but we did it so stealth that there is NO trace of ANY wires !
We were able to snake it down the lid, into the trunk hinge, down the backside of the wheel well, across the lower package tray and then down the trans tunnel. We have a really trick idea for the button mount inside the center console.... you will be happy ! For now.... here are some pics: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0710.jpg http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0725.jpg The battery will be hidden from view once upholstered. Therefor I made a shut off switch mounting plate that will also act as a structural brace once the upholstery panels are layed against them vertically. On the opposite side of the trunk (out of view) I mounted Remote Battery Terminals for charging. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0712.jpg |
It looks great.Nice work.

Update
I have been pretty busy and slacking on the updates. No excuses......
"Bitch" is completely wired and plumbed (both fuel system and brakes). The entire rolling chassis is 100% and we are starting to finish the interior and minor details. I will be updating but not to reveal too much untill its completion which is still on target for Columbus 2011. Which at that point will be available for sale :unibrow: Door Panel Design: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...Build/12-1.jpg |
Looks very nice

Awesome attention to detail. Everything looks really good. More pics please!

Thanks guys....
The past few months we have been working slowly on plumbing the fuel system and brakes which is nothing to really take pics of or post. So here are a few little things that have been done over that time that are worth showing..... Custom CLEAR glass (for contrast with the black trim and off white upholstery) http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0799.jpg Once the all the trim was repaired and scotch brited it was prepared for Satin Matte Black Powdercoat. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0800.jpg Finished Install (with all new rubber and stops etc): http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0813.jpg |
Love what you did with the trim.
Did you reuse the 1/4 window frames? If so, was it much work preparing them for powder coating? |
Bossanova,
All the window trim (and I mean ALL of it) was sent to George Lucas of http://www.glmetalpolishing.com/. George repaired any and all dents and straightened all the pieces before sanding them down with 180 grit. He then puts a red scotchbrite pad on the polishing wheel and meticulously preps each piece. They come out with a smooth yet clean texture for the Powdercoat to adhere too. We had a few pieces that gave us a gard time during assembly and the powder never chipped or became scratched. As far as the 1/4 windows.... (if you are refering to Vent Windows), they were fairly easy to dissassemble. You NEED to be patient as a few pieces are pretty stubborn from 40+ years of grime. I found the following link to be very informative for taking these apart: http://www.bthomas1967chevy2wagon.co...owRebuild.aspx Thanks for good words..... I will post some better pics of the completed side glass soon  |
Dude, I love the door panels. The new logo is a classy change too.

Can't wait to see the door panels and how the Clayton pieces work with it. Planning the same sometime in the distant future. |
The idea for the interior was to have something that resembles a new luxury car. In other words.... "classy" or "elegant" and not too "street rod".
So the truck was covered up in an OEM material and basically has no thrills: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0899.jpg The headliner is getting a slim decorative console trimmed with billet strips (not 100% on this design yet). http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0905.jpg |
Oooops. Meant to say "vent" window frames.

glad i found this one!
Are the bumpers going to remain the way shown some pictures back? Can you post a couple up close pics of the bolts in the front bay area? When the dash was made; that is fiberglass with leather covering, if so- what adhesive was used? Side mirrors? Great build |
Quote:
For now....the Bumpers will stay but I may shave the bolts in the future. Page 14 of this thread has some really good close ups of the bolts/washers both on and off the car. The dash was carved from dense foam then glazed with fiberglass, sanded to shape and then wrapped. The adhesive is the standardized stuff upholsterers use. |
I finally chose a Steering Wheel. Althought I completely changed the look of it, its still an "off the shelf" piece.
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0896.jpg Here is the start of the rear seat which will be a bench but resemble a pair of buckets: http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...d/IMG_0898.jpg |

That wheel looks great! Cant wait to see what you do with the rear seat! i want to put a bench in and resemble buckets just like that in my 55 ford im building. if you dont want to post the pictures of the build up of the rear seat can you please pm me them? i would really like to see them! |
