Tracy, i'm suspicious that you have been using the new "Nice Interior Spray" that Rodger has developed on many of these cars. We'll know somethings up if we see you at SEMA and you are three inches taller with dark wavy hair from his "Tall, Dark and Handsome" spray.

I'm looking in to his " weight loss " spray before SEMA, Might have to order the catalog and become a dealer for the midwest:thumbsup:

This is what it looks like after the pour foam cures and you pull it out of mold, Then just start carving to shape and glass up, sand, skim coat, cover and done

RECOVERY ROOM 10-24-2010 08:59 PM

I'm going to start another thread with some tips and answers to help out some of the home builders. I will go thru and look at some of the basic stuff to do help get your car ready for upholstery. (remember that it takes me awhile to post pics)

GregWeld 10-24-2010 09:11 PM

Tracy --

Do you ever do the wire mesh and then cover with polyester fabric and then resin that? I've seen this done for speaker enclosures etc and it seems pretty efficient.

The console in my Nomad is a combo of MDF - a little steel and some glass and some bondo...

http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...console004.jpg

And all done! The face plate of the stereo comes off - and when that is removed - it allows the fiberglass cover to come off and gives me a hidden compartment for "stuff". Once this was finished -- I removed the stereo in the dash and replaced the '55 chevy trim with one that has no cutouts... This was shot still in the mock up stage.

Tracy,
What is the deal with the "pour foam"?
I have been looking for something like this to carve a rear spoiler out of.
Where can I get some?

Anybody that sells fiberglass supplies should have it but just in case - here's a link. It seriously is just called pour foam.

Can you talk them into a different set of gauges.

Awesome car. What kind of sound insulation is that. Im in the market for some. Needs to keep the sound and heat out.

RECOVERY ROOM 10-31-2010 12:45 PM

I would use Dynamat or Hushmat,Fatmat. The stuff they put in this car is good, But not very sticky. I have no Idea whose product it is. We are going to heat it up and restick some spots.

Hey Tracy,

Where do you get your switches and push buttons etc from? I want to install new switches in my mustang but go with something different to the standard boring toggle switches out there. Something like the Ford GT toggles would be awesome. There's not many good ones that I can find.

Cheers,
Joe.

The WidowMaker 11-05-2010 02:17 PM

it seems most guys source them from watson street works. ive read pretty good reviews so far. kind of expensive, but they are full billet. the electric lifes had a plastic bezel around the aluminum switch.

We use Electric Life switches in our custom backing plates shown on our online catalog. If our backing plate doesn't suit your build style,we can design one that does. Our web address is www.jbmicrofinish.com

Tracy--Of the many Electric Life switch and bezel combos we have sold, none have been returned. There are many good switches on the market and we make custom bezels for any type or brand. Is this the car you talked to Becky about? Jeff

The Recovery Rooms work is 2cd to none. I have a neighbor that has had several interiors done by them. Each interior is different, and each is amazing.
