96z28ss 11-15-2010 09:32 AM

You could just paint it black and then you could start a Black Camaro Posse at RTTC.

Nah, that would be way too cool and easily secure a magazine feature. :_paranoid

I like the color.

I hope to see it in a video that's a few minutes long.

Maybe someday.

Not much here I don't think, but there is a sub-section on PT where all the updates come from. I am watching there for new updates:

Sweet. So you confirmed which swaybar you have and that it will work on mine? You were gonna check on the tabs or something that were modded?

I might be able to hook us all up with free pizza at the pier that day... lemme work on that.

Yes sir--same one fits yours---we made custom brackets on the rearend of mine, so the brackets the sway bar came with are unused and ready to go on yours. I'll shoot you a price today on text.

Doug,

Free delivery...very nice.

Much better than your normal deal where friends who've somehow gotten keys to your warehouse complex have to write down what they've taken and stick it in a jar on your parts counter.

Excellente.... thank you Doctor. (Glad I'm not sick... LOL)

One last think... can you measure it and make sure it's the 3/4" diameter bar? That's the one Dave@Hellwig and Mark@SC&C recommended for me.

Thanks bro and see ya next week.

God I love this car. There's just something about it. Flash, your videos have me missing the Bay Area. I used to live in SF and I worked out in San Ramon at Pac Bell. Do you do any business with Craig Hill at Top of the Hill Performance in Livermore?

Thanks Neil. That's exactly what I thought about this car long before it was for sale and I was in the market.

I do that SF to SR commute about 3-4x per week. It ain't too bad.

I know of Top of the Hill, but never been there nor done any business with them.

update time

Rich Bermea -- of Road Touring Customs in Gilroy, CA -- have been working on "Phase 2" of my Camaro with the sole purpose of getting it race and road-trip ready for RTTC II in February. Rich is a great dude and knows and loves Camaros. He just posted his own 68 Camaro build thread yesterday - "Pro Vintage." Check it out.

So.. just a few days ago I was almost set on getting the Liberty upgraded TKO 600 to replace my M-21, but after continuing to uncover bad seals and gaskets causing endless leaks on this car and motor, we decided to pull the motor and just reseal everything pretty much everywhere. So, that decision killed the tranny budget for now.

The trans, clutch, motor and most major parts look to be in pretty good condition, and I have put 500 pretty hard (ok, very hard) miles on this car since I got it 4 months ago. It came with a fair amount of paperwork, but many things are still a mystery... some we hope to uncover very soon.

We got the motor pulled today and while I'm on vacation Rich will start on tearing the motor down, inspecting and resealing/gasketing. When I get back we will finish the rear suspension, brakes, trans, and a few other small things... wait, is anything ever really small? :_paranoid

Pics from today.

I'm really diggin the red Comp Cams stud girdle.

What all do you have done to your engine is it a 350 or 383?

Ya know... maybe. We are gonna play with ride height after the new pan and taller tires and maybe gain a tad bit of clearance, so maybe I will be okay. I still like the idea of it as I drive hard on the streets and seem to not pay enough attention to the sh!tty streets and highways here in the bay!

This destroked 400 (377 cubes) was in the car when I got it 4 months ago. It has a very big solid roller and Brodix Track 1 215cc heads and revs hard to 7k where I have the rev limiter set currently.

Thanks bro. I have to swing by and see ya in Jan when it's road worthy. I hope you can make it to RTTC.

Vegas69 12-18-2010 08:41 AM

I have two thoughts on your particular build sir...:D

What flavor of oil are you running? With the high spring rates needed for a solid roller, I'd run Brad Penn. It has all the goodies the epa doesn't allow in regular oil. My engine builder swears by it. I have an extra case of 10w30 I'd let go for half. I changed to 20w50.

Do you currently have a floating caliper out back? You are changing to a fixed caliper and that may very well put you in the knockback class of 2010.

awr68 12-18-2010 09:43 AM

Very cool Dave! Stay focused....the key is to put more things together than take them appart!

Looking forward to seeing a crossram on there, 'Hollywood'.

Do it for the kids comin' up. :unibrow:

Cool stuff Dave. Removing that bumper really made a difference already. Those Wilwoods look pretty sweet too. You already have "Todditis" kicking in though...

Toddster -- your thoughts are always invited to my Camaro party.

Currently running Valvoline VR1 10w30. Have only heard good things of the Brad Penn(y) stuff though. It Pettis uses it, it can't be half bad! Thanks for the offer on the case - let me talk to Rich but that sounds like a plan.

Unfortunately I am not qualified to answer your question on the fixed/floating caliper business... how embarrassing. :_paranoid You mean were my stock drum floating? And now my new Willwood kit is fixed? Here is what I got:
http://www.globalwest.net/w140-7578c5.html

I have read all of your knockback thread and honestly I don't quite understand it all. :willy:

Thanks Corey. Yep I am already pleased with the bumper off. Wasn't sure if I would be or not. Ya never know sometimes... Yep, Todd can be a great/not so great influence on us sometimes eh.

Vegas69 12-18-2010 01:29 PM

Dave, VR1 is good oil. Pettis has seen bearings, pistons, cams, etc after seasons with Brad Penn. He said it's better than VR1. Marginally I'm sure.

If you are coming from drums, then you may very well have the knockback. Do you have power brakes or manual. I'm guessing manual with that huge cam.

Good deal on the VR1. It was in the motor when I got the car, and we changed it and decided to keep using it after looking into it and seeing it seemed like a quality oil.

Yep, I am a manual braker. Looks like I am headed for Team Knockback.

Vegas69 12-18-2010 04:01 PM

Personally, I'd put a floating caliper on it now and sell that kit. At the very least, make sure those axle bearings are tight.
