Thanks Ric,Tony and Rich! I'm so happy with what these guys did. They flew on this job, and not by cutting any corners either. The biggest hold up was me not wanting to take a chance pouring the floor on a chance of rain day. I'm very happy with them.
Rich the car looks kick ass!

Mondays progress. We worked on the bay window today it was almost impossible to open it had sagged so much in the twenty years its been there. We jacked it up and tightened the cables that hold it plus we shimmed the braces that are under it. It works fine now. ( I forgot how easy it opened. ) Then we trimmed it out with Azek pvc board ( no more painting. ).
Next they removed the bay window in the garage and installed the door. I didn't get pictures of the install, I was at the doctors. I had to take them later on . Sorry for the pictures taken in the dark but here they are.

This is from in the garage side. Tomorrow we get stairs. The hole you see to the right of the door was so we could get to the out let to move the wire without disturbing the plaster.

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...sMonday002.jpg

Now from in the house. I still need to insulate and blue board and get someone to skimcoat it. I also have to rewire the outlet on the left . It was connected to the one on the right. I was all set to do it but only had 14/2 and its wired with 12/2. That was a surpirse.

I just got intouch with my plumber. He will come next Monday and move the radiator which is infront of the door.
I called two door installers to get prices to install my garage door. I talked to both last week and neither got back to me with a price yet. One said he would call me Sat. to come see it on Sunday morning. Nothing from him yet.

If I was you, I'd just leave it there. That way, if you get any drafts under that door when you have the garage door open, it will heat up the air before it comes into your living space:rofl:

awr68 11-29-2010 08:07 PM

Looking great! Almost there!! Wish I lived closer, we could have that patch next to the door ready for paint by lunch! You have to be WAY excited!!

waynieZ 11-29-2010 08:47 PM

Hell yes I'm excited!! The punch list is dwindling . I wish you wee close too. I have to find someone to skimcoat it for me. I have a buddy who knows someone who can do it. Just have to get intouch with them. Its funny My wife hasn't said anything about getting it done. But my daughter wants to have my grandaughters birthday party here on the 4th so she's driving me nuts to get it done.
Northeast Rod Run I may leave it so they can't find me when I'm in there.

tones2SS 11-30-2010 09:55 AM

Very cool Wayne.
Better get it before your granddaughter's birthday party.:_paranoid (Just playing.) It's looking really good.

Jay Hilliard 11-30-2010 02:45 PM

waynieZ 11-30-2010 03:36 PM

Thanks Tony and Jay but thats me mumbling in my sleep you hear!!! lol

They got a little more done today. They installed all the huricane clips and finnished the bottom of the front door trim. They also built the stairs in the garage. They did a great job on them. There very rigid. the treads are made from 2x10s
Here are a couplee of pictures.

I know it was a slow and somewhat stressful start to this, but look at it now!! You clearly hired the best contractor! They are doing a great job for ya!!

waynieZ 12-07-2010 07:47 AM

I had a little progress yesterday. The plumber came by to remove a 6' section of base board so the door into the garage could be finnished so it could open. I gave him a hand , we started at 8:30 am it was out and plumbed back in by 12:00. Then the fun began we tried to bleed the system. My water pressure is almost non existent. It took forever to fill the system. Then to bleed the air out was fun. We had to do three zones 3 times each. One zone has two kick board heaters, they held so much air it was a pain. The plumber who did the baseboard replaced the kick panel heater in the kitchen a few years ago. When he did he put ball valves on either end so we used them to finally get it bled but it was 3:30 when we finnished. Another 3 hours of extras I didn't count on. But thats how it goes. Atleast its done.
Here's where we removed the baseboard.

waynieZ 12-09-2010 09:27 AM

Hi guys I called the building inspector to see if he could come by and inspect the wall between the house and the garage so we could close it up. So he asked me who my neighbor is. ( its the one who didn't want the garage here ) So I asked why She called the city hall? She called to complain that I was leaving my bay window in the garage wall and it should not be allowed! She had him come out 4 time from her complaints. Plus Three officials questioned him about it to see what was up.
He explained it to them and they were ok with it. He didn't even have to come by he had seen it and knew what I was talking about and said to put the sheet rock up. I can't believe I'm causing such a fuss following the law.
I'm just lucky I guess!

tones2SS 12-09-2010 04:28 PM

Man, what's up with that neighbor? Why doesn't she just mind her own business. I don't like people like that. Who is she to tell you if you should leave the bay window in the garage or not?
Take a hike lady. lol:rofl:

waynieZ 12-11-2010 01:39 PM

Well got a little progress done today. My buddy Buster and I put all the hinges and struts on my garage door yesterday, but ran out of daylight. We froze our cookies off yesterday it was cold and windy so when it got a little dark it wasn't too hard to quit. Today we went out and put the door in and secured it with some 2x4"s I was short two #4 hinges no one had them . I finally called a door installer to see if he had them. He did. He was going to the next town over to look at a job so he brought them to me. Not bad for a $10 sale. When he got there I asked him to get me a price on a high lift track for my door. He said no problem he would get back to me. Maybe there is one guy around here that needsthe work. I hope it pans out.
Here's what it looks like with the door in.

waynieZ 12-11-2010 05:37 PM

Thanks guys!
Rich Thanks for geting that to me measurment. You know thats the first thing my wife said when she saw the door up.

Jay Hilliard 12-12-2010 05:13 AM

That looks great Wayne! If the woman is not happy with your bay window, I would love to be there and see her face when you rev up your camaro for the first time. :woot:

tones2SS 12-12-2010 08:33 AM

That looks killer Wayne. Looks like a totally new home overall.
That garage should be a nice home for that bad ass Camaro you're building. VERY NICE.

waynieZ 12-14-2010 08:37 AM

Thanks guys.
Yesterday they installed the fire rated sheet rock on the wall between the house and garage. It had to go all the way up to the roof because I'm not going to finnish the rest of the insulation and sheet rock for a while. We also blocked the opening inside wher'e the window used to be. We insulated and put blue board so it can be plastered.
Here are some pictures.

The electrician is checking what is needed to pass code for the occupancey permit. He'll give me a price. The garage door guy I got some parts off is getting me a price on a high lift track kit. He's waithing to hear back on a price. I'll call him later today.

BBC69Camaro 12-14-2010 10:20 AM

Wow really coming along, won't be long now

rixtrix1 12-15-2010 10:13 PM

I don't see how the neighbor can complain 'cuz it looks so good. Gonna be a great workplace. Gotta get the Camaro into it's new home.

waynieZ 12-21-2010 07:56 PM

Not too much last week so I waited to get something to post. Last week they came to get the pile of waste form in front of the house. Just in time to miss the snow. So nice with that gone.
Today the electrician showed up and started the ruff in for thr electric. They ran the wire for the power to the house from the panel in the garage. The house will stay on temporary power for a while longer but will only need the connection at the meter when we're ready. The're putting one light out side the man door, plus one inside, a receptical and a heat detector. Also putting power for the Liftmaster and buttons at each door to operate the door.I'll put more later when my wallet recovers.

Here are some pictures.

Wayne --

I just went back to review the outside over all shots -- I don't know how ANYONE could complain about what you've done with your house.... You neighbor must be a real "piece of work".

I have an "old" neighbor right in back here -- and there's no question that if I fire up the BBT (Big Bouncy Truck) at 4:30AM... I fully understand him being a little "PO'd"... but it's only 4 or 5 times a year... Diesels are noisy - not much I can do about that. But one day I was working on the Nomad -- with the shed door slightly up -- and it's 4:30 in the afternoon - and this butthead comes over to complain.... When that happened -- I just told him to get the f outta here... No point in even trying to be nice at that point. He won't come back. I think he knew he'd crossed the line then.

waynieZ 12-22-2010 06:40 AM

I hear you Greg. She drives me nuts. My wife worried about the door going up so she couldn't see inside the garage. I could care less what she thinks. I don't do things to agravate the situation but I'm all done walking on egg shells for her. I can't wait for the first fire up on the Camaro :willy: That should get things buzzing.

She will forget all about the current complaints then I'm sure

Northeast Rod Run 12-22-2010 10:54 AM

I have a neighbor that hates me also. She came over one day and tried to bitch me out for no good reason (I had about a half-dozen hot rods out front that day). Well, I had a good buzz going and I had some friends over at the same time. Needless to say that I put a show on for my friends and embarassed the hell out of her at the same time. Don't think she's coming back anytime soon:unibrow:

tones2SS 12-28-2010 09:49 AM

Hey Wayne.
Got the bulk of the garage in time for all this snow.:_paranoid

waynieZ 12-30-2010 11:41 AM

Passed Electrical Inspection

The mast for the electric is all installed and all the wiring is inspected and passed. The electrician is trying to get an appointment for next week to switch the power to the new service. Then I can get the building inspector here to inspect so I can get my occupancy permit. Then when the car is done I will be ready to bring it home.
Here's a small update

Looking good Wayne. We got pounded with 22 inches of snow plus killer drifts. Your roof doesn't look to bad, did you get as much as us in north east jowsey?

Any recent news from Mike on the car?

Rich

tones2SS 12-30-2010 04:46 PM

Looks awesome Wayne. I was going to ask if there were any updates earlier today. You beat me to it.:D
(Rich, I'm about 30 minutes from Wayne and we got about 18-20 inches here. Some nasty winds and some snow drifts as well. Is it summer time yet?!? )

waynieZ 12-30-2010 06:27 PM

Thanks Rich; We didn't get as much as you or Tony but it was still 16.5" but the temps have been above freezing so we're getting some good melting. We had gusts to 60 mph for two days . It was beautiful here today almost 45 and sunny.
Mike is going to take care of raising the floor for the Transmission before he paints it just to make sure I have enough room. But still no pick up date.

tones2SS 01-07-2011 08:48 AM

Any updates Wayne? Must be getting close to being all complete, right?

waynieZ 01-07-2011 11:50 AM

Nothing new Tony; The electrician is still waiting for the power company to give him a date to swap the power back to perminent service.
I called the door guy yesterday, he's just waiting for the highlift kit to get here, he said he's ready to install it when it gets here. When these two things are done I can call for final inspection.

Jay Hilliard 01-11-2011 05:24 AM

Everything is looking great Wayne. You are on the home stretch now. Its a great feeling when you get that OC. You can then relax and take a breath. :unibrow:

waynieZ 01-11-2011 09:39 PM

Thanks Jay. I just got a call today the power company is going to change the power from temp to permenant next Wednesday at 8:30 am.
Then I got a call form the door guy he said the high lift tracks should be here Friday and we can install them next week. Its either nothing or everything. Not that I'm complaining.

waynieZ 01-19-2011 01:27 PM

I say hallelujah . We have permenant power!
The electrician showed up at 8:15 and killed the temporary power at the meter. Then he went downstairs in the cellar and connected the power from the panel in the garage and seperated the whites from the neutrals in the house panel. The power company showed up and changed the power from the temp pole to the mast on the garage and installed the meter. The electrician put the cover on the panel in the garage and they were done. All before 10:00 am
The inspector showed up later in the day and passed it, so we're golden!
When the power company truck showed up the sun came out and the clouds split like the parting of the red sea.
I have an appointment for Friday morning to install the gutters and down pipes. If it doesn't snow. Them the door guys is coming in the afternoon ot install the highlift tracks and the Liftmaster 3800 opener. That should get me to where I can call for the building inspector to come check it out.
Here are a few pictures.
