Whoa man. That evaporator bracket is truly epic!

waynieZ 01-27-2014 12:07 PM

Frank I love what your doing on the dash, its looking awesome! I love the fire truck too. Keep the pictures coming.

frankv11 02-02-2014 05:11 PM

was looking to use original lens in order to keep the dummy lights and turn signals but the 5" gauge was just a tad to big. it worked but had just a bit to much point of view overlap and it would just look to stock once painted. so i went in bit of a different direction..

picture of initial planhttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psc7ff525c.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psbf44ff14.jpg
this is the way i'm going with it,
question….. what tool can I possibly use to get rid of weld on those inside corners ( picture please ). they are way less noticeable than in picture but would like them gone.http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psa65a4eb1.jpghttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7623e92.jpg

makoshark 02-03-2014 02:56 AM

That looks great!

As for the weld showing through like that, what about remaking the piece that the gauge actually attaches to and bending a lip on it. It would be flush on the backside and would push the gauge forward a tad unless you engineered it all with that lip from the getgo. Just a thought

waynieZ 02-03-2014 07:49 AM

It looks Nice. How about a Dremel tool with a stone or carbide bit in it, or you could put some all metal or bondo to round out the rear corners to match the shape of the top of the sheet metal. Either way it's going to look great.

[QUOTE=Ron in SoCal;535290]Way to go Frank. That dash looks like a lotta work!

quite a bit of work. what made it most difficult was the horizontal radius and the dash face is slanted in about 15* so I had to make a separate bezel for every gauge (except bottom row) to bring them back to 90*. left a bit of space on left side for pushbutton start. so yeah its been fun but that is exactly the look I was going for. i wanted the dash to have some dept. not a fan of the flat. very happy with the outcome thus far.

I actually went through photo bucket using iphone( copy and paste as usual )not directly from iPhone but I was not able to do it either way in the past.
pictures of where I'm at now.

tx jay, those seats are tenzo g-tr. not crazy about quality but look and fit nice. Most likely get replaced with some cobras

Tx Chris . Glad you guys like dash.
It's been a long project, since I'm doing it all here at home . I'm enjoying the build and learning a lot. I decided to tackle this because I'm a bit too delicate on quality and figure I could only get mad at my self.
I see your project is on its way to the finish line , been following it for a while. It looks like did not compromise in any aspect of the build. Good job

Vince@Meanstreets 02-09-2014 10:11 PM

looks great frank, what are you doing with the clock space? iPhone mount?

Ahhh
So you see the need. Great minds think alike:)
Actually looking to buy a bvlgari clock from 02-06 cadillac escalade but had not found a clean one, not trying to pay for new one. So that's in the back burner for now. That was suppose to be a surprise
Thanks a lot Vince.
Did you ever get pedal car done for your boy ?

Get a lot of inspiration from the other projects here on LG (like your's) if not for this site , car would gave been done long ago. But probably pretty plain. sometimes nothing gets done for months but back at it again on daily basis.
Tx to all

theres a "how to" thread on sixspeedonline in the Porsche 997 area on how to interface a mini ipad with 4g....pretty cool setup. I believe his name to be Joel.....something....

May skip on clock. Find my self spending to much time on such things and not enough of it to go around.

Thanks for the props on dash. I'm actually thinking of doing a small run. Been talking to a CAD programmer and a local sheet metal fabrication company. Got to go through the numbers and get a feel for the market. To see if it has any footing.
The way I look at it is. If I could had bought it. I would not had gone through the trouble if making it. Hopefully there is enough people out there that share that point of view.
Would like to thank Guy Smith from Spectre Performance for helping with desigh and part #s for 4" ( MAF shim fiitings , gaskets , filter , adapters etc...) , aluminum intake

frankv11 03-05-2014 10:14 PM

Thanks to all for the encouragement .
After looking at this thing for more than half a day it finally found its place.
Its the Cts-v intercooler pump and reservoir. It typically sits under cooler but no room up front without major surgery and did not want to weld on DSE sub.at the end of the day I Was able to keep welding to a minimum.

After a bit research I found this guy from Turnone. It allows me to run AN6 directly from power steering pump pressure side with enough clearance for pulley. I drilled out to 9/32 to keep stock pressure for rack.
http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...psc6f38a27.jpg
Got AFCO heat exchanger to keep those IATs low. Pretty nice piece

Flipped it up side down ( to keep out let / in let on driver side ) a few cuts on center support brace. welded in some support brackets and it sits nice. I will have to run 90's on inlet & outlet to clear condensor and RS headlights.

Wow I've been gone for a couple weeks and the car looks incredible. I can't wait to see this car complete.

waynieZ 03-16-2014 12:16 PM

That's a great solution Frank, it looks like OEM packaging. Nice work keeping the finish intact on the sub frame too. Was that tig welded in?

Thank's Marty
Been at it full time lately. Want to get done to it's first stage by years end. 1st stage being fully sorted and drivable ready for last brake down , ( oh no deadline )

Thanks Wayne
I'm trying to put things in, like if they belong there as much as possible.
It was migged, drilled 3/8 hole and two 3/16" on each side. place weld in nut on inside tighten bolt and weld.

Sometimes you have to undo things in order to move forward..
trans tunnel and part of firewall being such a case, had to be hacked again in order to make roon AC unit.
Looks like ECU found a home. Leaving enough slack on it (24") or so. Just incase it needs to be serviced. Installed full dash and It's still really accessible as is. http://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...ps411f7a8c.jpg
