Jeff-

To make sure your car will pass tech I'll need to take a ride in the passenger seat- you know, just to make sure it's 'safe'.

Tyler

Great call Scott. There was not a wrong decision between those 3.

DriverzInc 10-15-2010 09:49 AM

Good luck Jeff!

Good Luck Jeff. The best part about this community is there was no wrong answer here. I would have had no issue supporting any of the guys mentioned for the invite. The members here that are willing to sponsor the Lateral-G representative should be applauded!:hail: I spent a lot of years fielding oval track stock cars and could not have done it without great sponsors. In today's economy they are very hard to come by. You guys are top notch.

Scott, you should be very proud of what you have started here! I have never been involved in anything that has this many people with a common interest that come together for each other so often. Again :hail: !

Keep us posted on the progress Jeff. We're pulling for yah!

It's just great to see drug addicts band together to support one anothers habit or obsession. :D

It'll be good to see one of the Van Buren boys use their power for good and not evil.

Update!

Jeff has decided that he won't be able to attend the OUSCI, so Carl Casanova (CarlC) will be taking the invite.

Carl will do great!

James OLC 10-20-2010 06:13 AM

Congratulations Carl - your car has been an inspiration to a lot of us.

See you in a couple of weeks

Way to go Carl! A well-deserved selection.

Great choice---having flown with Hollywood, I can attest to his icy cold unflinching no fear of speed. He's also great doing duets off the Grease soundtrack on Karyoke tuesday nights.

See you out there Hollywood.

Doug

CarlC 10-20-2010 08:32 AM

Well Alrighty Then!

Jeff, I wish things would have worked out for you to attend. No blowing smoke, just a sincere belief that it would have been great for you to represent everyone here. I'll do my best to make as good a showing as you would have.

The car is off to Magnuson on Monday to have a tune done. In true hot-rodder fashion I put a new TVS blower on the car right after Jeff accepted. She's running well but Drew will work his magic to fix the small bugs and make her purr.

I can use some help/advice on how best to handle a few logistical matters.

For those that are attending OUSCI with a car, how are you handling the logistics for Friday? I'm late into the game and am looking for some help on how to move vehicles (I'm trailering to L.V.) to Pahrump. If anyone is making a similar tow vehicle move on Friday from L.V. to Pahrump I could really use a ride.

Is there any place to store a car trailer in Pahrump during SEMA?

Anyone have a line on a place to stay around Pahrump? I have no plans, and rooms are short, for Friday or Saturday night.

Finally, I have not heard back from FM3 yet but is there a place at SEMA for competitors to display their cars this year? Last year they were displayed in the area in the far corner of the Hot Rod Alley. For those that displayed last year, when did you need to be in Vegas?

Thanks for the support guys. It means a lot to know that there are others in my corner willing to help.

I've only done Karyoke once. My boss and I were in a Korean Karyoke bar with customers in Maui about 10 years ago. As you can imagine, we were the minority. After plenty of liquid libations, he and I sang "Play That Funky Music White Boy." We laughed our butts off as everyone in the bar cheered us on.

Hey, the Dos Equis guy called me last night. I was honored by his call until he said "I've heard of this Dr. Rennert fellow. Can he come to my private SEMA party?" I felt so used.

RPM HOTRODS 10-20-2010 08:48 AM

Carl, I should have room in my trailer but I believe we have to drive the cars from SEMA to Pahramp. But I am willing to give you a hand in anyway I can. Just let me know what you need exactly. Thanks Curt

Ron in SoCal 10-20-2010 08:58 AM

Congrats Carl!!!

Show 'em how we do it in SoCal...

If you need trailer storage, I've got a place in Henderson about 10 mins from the strip.

Vegas69 10-20-2010 09:08 AM

Hey Carl,
I have room at my place for your trailer if needed. Go read the official rules, your car will need to be at SEMA on Monday I believe and a road ralley is part of the event after Sema. The Silverton would be a perfect place to stay if you can't find a spot in Pahrump. I bet you could find a place to park the trailer as well.

CarlC 10-20-2010 10:55 AM

I wasn't too clear in my original message, so let's see if I can get my thoughts across.

Right now it looks like I will trailer the car to arrive LV early Monday. So, I need to be able to drop the car off the trailer and get it into the Coral on Monday (thanks Todd, I forgot about that paragraph.) Todd, are you planning on driving your car from your house to SEMA on Monday? If so, you need to get back home. Perhaps I can follow you in my truck/trailer, we put both cars in the building, and then we ride in the truck/trailer back to your house. Or, I drop the car off the trailer at your place, we drive/drop at SEMA, and get ride back to your place? Let me know your thoughts. I'll PM you my cell number if you would like to discuss.

Since I'm driving the car from SEMA to Pahrump I need to figure a way to get my truck/trailer to Pahrump on Friday, MAYBE. This is where the logistics get a bit sticky depending upon where I stay. Let's see how things flow over the next day or two before getting neck-deep.

Curt, are you staying in Pahrump on Friday/Saturday? If so, and you have the room, I may take you up on storing the car in your trailer at night. If it's at all a problem, just say so. I do not want to be in the way.

Rybar 10-20-2010 11:17 AM

Congrats Carl, go to bat for Lateral-G. So many great contestants to choose from!

Flash68 10-20-2010 02:07 PM

Bummer for Jeff. But congrats and best of luck to Carl. Another great well sorted out car.

Carl, I am staying with Todd--I can drive the truck and trailer to the track for you. Dave can follow in my car. We are all attending the event.

Blake Foster 10-20-2010 04:19 PM

Congrats Carl

Speed Tech and ResurreXion 72 Nova will also be flying the Lat G flay for the event, the car will be a feature car sponsored by Aeromotive. cant wait to rip it up with everyone.

should be VERY interesting come 4pm friday so see how they pull off the SEMA Exit.

CarlC 10-20-2010 04:30 PM

Thanks for the phone call Doug. I really appreciate it.

Thank you to everyone for the encouragement. It's going to be fun!

Blake, I'm with you on the departure time. Two hours to go five miles from SEMA to the freeway is a good test, eh?

GregWeld 10-20-2010 05:56 PM

Carl --

First - congratulations!

Second -- True story. Some buddies and I were doing the Spring Mountain driving lessons... and upon checking into the Best Western one buddy asks the petrified geriatric desk clerk -- What's the major industry in Pahrump besides casinos? Her prompt response "hookers".

I thought I was going to pee my pants. She was dead serious.

Van B 10-20-2010 06:04 PM

I spent a lot of time soul searching over the weekend and came to the conclusion that it did not make a lot of sense for me to spend the money it would have taken to make the event. My wife was not in favor either. She stresses when I travel anyway and suffers from migraines and has been having a lot of trouble with them lately. Add to that a two year old running around demanding constant attention. Needless to say, timing just was not right, especially with fairly short notice.

I fully expected to get a lot of crap from you guys for turning down a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks to everyone for not rubbing it in. Thanks also to Scott for first offering me the opportunity and for his graciousness when I had to back out.

I wish I were a west coast guy right now. Best of luck to Carl. Scott made a great choice. At least you have the right car. A red Camaro and it's not a 69!

Yep, I'm driving mine down that day and I could hitch a ride back home with you and you could drop the trailer at my place. I'm undecided on whether I'll take my trailer out to the event Saturday morning.
