2nd Chance Camaro - Dusting a little Primer on the Subframe

2012 01-11 Update - Dusting a little Primer on the Subframe
Posted: Jan 10, 2012 www.2ndchancecamaro.com

Good Morning all,

My good buddy Tommy from www.sportmachines.net stopped by to help me with the car while he was in town. Honestly
I really think he came over so I would buy him lunch at Los Burritos Tapatios (( www.losburritostapatios.com )). Seems
you can't get good Mexican food in New York.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...712c1bd-me.jpg

The goal is to keep the frame from rusting during the construction phase. Once the mock up is complete Jay from Pro-Tek Powder
coating will be powder coating the frame.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...feafad4-me.jpg

I am really happy with the new look of the stock subframe.

Funny I had her wearing a Helmet when she was working on the car and I forget about her lungs. Maybe it has something to do with "Kenny Davis Syndrome".

Got's to have a helmet & proper seat belts

2nd Chance Camaro - Body Shell in Primer

2012 01-10 Update - Body Shell in Primer
Posted: Jan 13, 2012 www.2ndchancecamaro.com

Good Evening all,

Mario and the guys at US Collision primed the shell over the weekend. I can't tell you how happy I am with them. If you need
anything done to your car and your local Mario is the man.

Here is the great one doing his version of the "Thinker" pose.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...96b5254-me.jpg

Inner wheel tubs are removed as the car will be getting a set of DSE mini-tubs. Not going all the way to the 335's but
want to have plenty of room for the BFG KDW2 -- 295's.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...0da66c1-me.jpg

I also have to thank Ron from www.hoodpins.net for finding this car for me. It sure is nice to have a rock solid shell.

2nd Chance Camaro - A Little Touch Up

2012 01-10 Update - A Little Touch Up
Posted: Jan 25, 2012 www.2ndchancecamaro.com

Good Evening all,

Now that the car is home and my little helpers are ready and willing to help. A few area's needed a little more primer so my oldest
volunteered to spray a little more primer on the car. It's important to keep your kids involved in every thing that is how they learn.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...8abc851-me.jpg

Daddy -- Not to worry Kenny can sand it out.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...97a1001-me.jpg

While the car is on the rotisserie I sprayed all of the hidden area's of the frame rails with Eastwoods Rust Convertor.

Final parting shot.

The least you could do is to give your little helpers some help!

Get a couple of these!

Good Evening All,

Now that the shell is ready for construction it's time to post up the build outline. The main purpose of this car is to be a Mountain Bike Hauler since Mountain Biking is my first love with Car shows being a close second. The goal is to combine my the two and have the ability to drive to all of the nearby Good Guys Show and then on the way home hit the nearby trails. With that being said the car has to be dual purpose built. It needs to have a good set of street tire and then have an extra set of tires for the Good Guys Events.

Last year at Good Guys Columbus I fell in love with a very understated Mustang built by Pinkee's Hot Rods. If you pick up the last months issue of Popular Hot Rodding you can see the feature they did on the car. After reading that article I new I was heading in the right direction.

We are going to try to stick with the Vintage Race Car Theme without being overstated since I want to be able to street drive the car and not get pulled over every time I drive the car. And then there is that Mountain Bike issue where are we going to put the bike. Let's just say that this is going to freak some of you out and others are going to think it's awesome.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...5f0f30a-me.jpg

There are a couple other cars that has truly inspired me and this build. When the car heads to a track event I will print up some removable decals that will instantly make it look more like a Vintage TA race car. Kinda like this beast.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...2b8223f-me.jpg

I have looked at this car for at the last couple years and I just love the look. So this car will also lend some idea's to the build.

http://garagescene.net/_data/i/uploa...063a456-me.jpg

another very clean build.

http://garagescene.net/upload/2012/0...8-163821c9.jpg

As for modification - most of them will be simple. The car will be mostly bolt together with very reliable part and most importantly something that if I break down they won't leave me Stranded.

Im more interested in your plan for the bike rack. Im a roadie and have planned on using my car for trips to various races around the state. I love the idea of showing up in this snarling beast of a car amongst the other overly environmentally conscious riders in their gas sippers. (For those of you who are environmentally conscious, I offset my large vehicular carbon footprint with cycling to work and an electric lawnmower) I cant fit my bike and gear in the trunk and a trunk mount rack will not work. My only other option is to fit a removable trailer hitch and use a hitch mount rack or utility trailer. I like the utility trailer idea as it also would double for road trip duty to various auto events. The trailer hitch would be removable using as many bolts on the frame as necessary to ensure it is secure.

syborg tt 02-03-2012 09:02 AM

We have a couple crazy idea's

Shoot me your e-mail and I will explain them. I am certain your not going to want to go down the road I am going. Way to extreme
