Any updates Chris?

Hey everyone,
No new pics right this second. I have busy with work and trying to get rid of a house and get plans drawn up for a new one. I am heading down to start bolting on some parts next week as I have 11 days off work. The guys at Dutchboys have been hitting it hard last few days getting the shell all wet sanded, polished, and buffed so that it ready to start having parts put back on!!

I ordered a new tilt column from Jim at GMtilt.com, a new momo steering wheel and a few other parts. Also the whole brake kit from Tobin at Kore3 came in and what a great couple of guys to deal with. Got a small moutian of other parts as well fat mat, radio system, Highway 22 kit. I ended up going with the GM C6 Z06 brake kit with sliver calipers. Tobin had such a good deal on them and for what I will use the car for and my driving skills right now I figure they will be more than enough for me. I wanted baer brakes but trying to keep cost in check so I can keep this project moving. I have seen many guys run these brakes with great success also.

I spent today getting all the glass, window tracks, regulators, etc... all cleaned up and ready to go in.

So for now that is my current update and I will get a bunch of pics next week and share them with you all. Everyone keep WARM with this crazy cold weather!

Wow, the car looks fantastic. I love the green. Are you planning on covering up the trunk with upholstery or leaving it natural to show off all the fabrication?

Nothing fancy in the trunk just a small chunk of carpet cut and trimmed to fit the bottom portion. Overall trying to keep the car pretty stock looking with small modern touches. That is one reason I kept with the green interior, it was original. Now just trying to sort out interior to keep with original and modern mix and keep it green.

Thanks for the comments and glad you like it!!

Thanks Ron!! I never really thought the car would turn out this nice! It has taken along time and some bumps along the way but all working out. I have got a lot of good ideas, advice, and motivation on here from all the great builds and members.

My goal is to have it all assembled and driving by mid may so I can let my daughter drive me to her graduation in it! Then enjoy it all summer long. That might be lofty goals but it only takes time and :G-Dub: :G-Dub:

Wow, how Awesome !! Love the color. What color did they use on the roll cage? Is it the same exterior color with satin clear coat. Also, do you know what color they used in the engine compartment and on the radiator support? Works well with the green.

The roll bar and all the interior is the same green as the exterior but flat cleared. As for the engine compartment I don't know the name of the color right now but will find out for you or you can send a message/call Paul at dutchboys. I can tell you my goal with it was to not have an all black engine bay. I decided on a color to match the wheel centers pretty close but flat clear again. Then black accents as far as bolt on items. The sub frame is black though.

I really like how it has turned out so far. Thanks and glad you like it!

Awesome project!!!

Lous69 02-06-2014 09:16 AM

Car looks awesome. No surprise, given your choice of shop to do the work!

It looks subtle yet menacing at the same time. Flawless attention to details.

chichirone 02-06-2014 09:24 AM

Awesome build. Major props on the color choices and use of satin and gloss finishes. The blend of "old" and "new" is really cool. Looking forward to watching it come together over the next few months.

Jay Hilliard 02-06-2014 04:56 PM

[QUOTE=DutchBoys;539088]We have been picking away on getting a few more parts bolted on Chris' car the last few weeks. Here are a few pictures from my phone. I really like how everything has started to come together.

I want to thank Paul for posting this update and some current pics as I have been going crazy with work and other stuff. The car is really coming along and starting to look like a real car again:excited:

The dutchboys have been great to work with and far exceeded my expectaions. They really are :king:

I just accepted a offer on our house we had for sale, so now I may have to turn more of the assembly of the car over to these guys. That is a good thing as it will keep moving but it was at this point I wanted to do more of the work. But I will not be able to handle living in a apartment to long so must get a new house built while they work the car. Then I will enjoy it and life!!!

ProPont 02-27-2014 04:58 PM

Outstanding workmanship, the car looks Great!! Color,Stance and detail. The wheels fit perfect. Can you tell me the sizes and back spacing you used. Also what length is your rear housing?

Thanks glad you like it! I will check on the rear end length and back spacing, I will get the wheel sizes also. If I remember right rears are 19x12 and fronts are 18x11 I will verify and get with you. Maybe early next week I am out of town right now.

Thanks, Choosing the green for the color was easy. The wheel choice was the hardest point so far do to so many great styles out there and I am really happy with it. I did not want black centers, so I thinks choice looks good with it.
