That front end package looks killer!!!! Nice work
|
The rear-end is in!! No thanks to (you know who you are). :P
I should have listened to Roger, the rear end when I measured was spot on with his measurements, but I had to be stubborn and go in 1/2" and of course... it's a 1/2" too narrow. Got spacers, all is good, not a big deal, but I should listen better next time. The wheels and tires are TIIIIGGGHHTTT... maybe 1/2" of room on the inside, pretty close, hopefully there isn't a lot of deflection from the torque arm when cornering hard. Either way, it all adds up to the fact that it will be on the ground very very soon!! :) Oh, one other thing... I guess there's a difference between stud thread sizes??? I didn't know this. The old style is a fine thread and the newer versions are a course thread... Now i have to have 2 different lugs, one set for the front and one set for that back LOL! http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6238/...5fe9c11d56.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6019/...756b1a45_z.jpg |
Welp, the bad news is that I now have to buy a new jack! Awesome! Spending money and not being able to any faster... BOO!! LOL
Oh well, the good news is that the rear suspension and brakes are done! It's on the ground now and my weekend project is to clean up the garage so I can move the car to the other stall so I can park my DD in the garage just in time for the snow. The car sits 3.5-4.5" off the ground .... I don't remember the roof line ever being that low before... yeesssh!! Anywhoozle, next project after that will be to get the rear end squared up and ready for an alignment in the spring :) I still have lots of mini projects to do over the winter, but I wanted to make sure it had wheels under it before snow came. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...0-_em24543.jpg http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...1-_em24536.jpg |
love it! Congrats

Great transformation! Love it!!

Minor update:
Had to move the car around the garage, snow is coming and I'd like to park my daily driver in the garage. Wiping snow off a car daily is a pain. I had to dismantle the front clip, which really isn't that big of a deal considering i'm about to put in the AutoRad radiator and core support. Makes for more room in the garage any how. Not so glamorous, the life of a guy cleaning up the garage. LOL I had to cut and install the Unisteer steering shaft though, made it a lot easier to turn the wheels with the steering wheel as opposed to kicking each tire a million times. Guess I can cross that job off the list. http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...92847292_o.jpg Someone asked me for a shot of the rear to see what the gas tank looked like from behind. Well, here you go! http://www.impermanence.kungphu.com/...2-_em24553.jpg |
Hey,
That will probably be the best for putting the front clip back on anyhow. The one piece removal worked but it wasn't the most careful and meticulous method;) . Anyhow, maybe you are working on it but the pics don't show for me here, I saw them on the PT post though. Pretty impressive stance you have there and the progress is remarkable. |
Looks great Eric. I bet it feels good to be putting parts back on instead of removing them huh? Nice work.
|
Awesome work!! Love how it has all come together. What did you use for an accessory drive? It is the factory vette setup?

The front clip wasn't all that bad taking off, just some people making sarcastic remarks :P Quote:

Max I just got caught up on the transformation. I am very impressed!
Let's hope this winter goes by quickly. |
Minor update:
Sometimes the smallest parts give me the most ****. Fairly certain that Earl's wouldn't approve of my modifying their PS fitting, but it seems to have worked just fine. We'll see when it's fully pressurized *crosses fingers* :D Had to remove the pulley to get the fitting behind it. http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6097/6...edb6f31a_b.jpg |
Ok, time for the smaller stuff.....
Tom F. (on this board) and did a trade a while back and here's his progress in mocking up a 4pt roll cage for me. Can't wait to get this bad boy in! Tom did a fantastic job to make sure it fits with the mini tubs and tucks up tight to the sail panels on the interior. The other piece I'm happy with is that it doesn't run through the speaker holes in the package tray so I can still keep my tunes! WEEE!! *Don't ask me about the rear-end in the passenger seat, that's his car... not mine. LOL http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7174/6...81bff43c_z.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6...2840a263_z.jpg Working on brake stuff, installing the prop valve from Speedtech and their stainless lines. Gotta love pre-bent stuff! Also, I cut a 3" hole in the firewall for all the LS electronics, you can see the hole in the upper part of the last photo. ~Eric http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6032/6...7af6b0a7_z.jpg |

DSC02627 by racer_tom_95, on Flickr I can try to explain the 10-Bolt laying on the floor. That Camaro got pulled out of storage to be used as a template to make Eric's roll bar. When it went into storage it got loaded with extra parts. The axle was too heavy to take out for this project. How do you like my trailer? Tom |
^^ Tom, that photo makes me happy in the pants! :D
Minor update. Nothing glamorous right now, just finished plumbing up the brakes with stainless lines and AN fittings... my god those fittings add up quick!!! *sob* http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7173/6...cbe288c0_z.jpg |
Cage is in finally. Got that done on my lunch break :D
This thing is TIIIIGGHHTTT To the head liner and side panels my god! I also just realized that my cell phone takes crappy photos in bad light, go figure. It's designed by Tom to match the line of the rear window so when it's rolled up, you won't see the bar. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7169/6...4839e0aa_b.jpg It's just tacked in for now. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6...930e3b48_b.jpg |
Nice to see it going together. I see you have the most useful adjustment tool laying on the rear floor :-)

Yea, I had to use that a few times. Also had to cut 1/2" off the bottom of the main hoop to get it to fit right. Thanks again for the roll cage :) |
Nice progress Eric, looks great!
|
Looks great. Need to get this back on the front page for more progress pictures with a real camera.

Small update:
Ok, this spending 2-3 hours at a time in the garage and seeing no visible progress is getting a tad tiresome!! LOL Wiring is certainly not my strong point, but AAW's kit doesn't make it seem like the giant mountain I'm making it out to be. I'm slowly figuring out that with my setup as-is... I won't need a lot of the harness... - dash harness - GONE (all taken care of by the Stack cluster) - Console cluster harness - GONE - Engine wiring harness - GONE (the LS's harness takes car of that easily) So in a lot of ways this is easier and harder at the exact same time. I'm really glad I went with the upgraded kit that has 18 circuits, always room to throw in a banging stereo later if I want to :D http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6...22111d70_z.jpg Super pissed that Radioshack doesn't carry these style of LED's in blue anymore Grrrr.... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7024/6...58f9ea08_z.jpg |
Have you looked here?

Evenso, if you need an LED... They can probably help you source it. There are humans on the other end of the website... ya know? Lots of guys with the same bike as me upgraded instrument clusters on their motorcycles to save the wattage, that is where I heard of them. Email or Toll Free 866-590-3533 |
Show the back of the stack cluster (indicator base & wires) and give any info off of the little bulb that you can see.
Speaking of my disorders, the asymmetric appearance of your indicators is bothering me.:P :unibrow: |
Quote:
2 - Turn signals 1 - Warning light from the Stack system 1 - Bright indicator 1 - Check engine light Only the warning light is a part of the stack unit. That's causing the asymmetry LOL The stack unit has a killer screw on type military IT's the read thing in this photo (not mine) http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/o...eapolis062.jpg |
Been wiring like a mo'fo lately.
I finished the rear wiring harness yesterday and now it's on to the front wiring harness. I tried to clean things up a bit and remove a lot of lead wires for the engine bay that really aren't necessary anymore (water temp wire, starter solenoid wire...etc). Leaves me about 10 total wires under the hood, not including the LS wiring bundle. Anywhoozle, Can't finish the head lights and turn signals without putting the fenders back on! I can taste it it's so close!!! :D http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7172/6...0a7d062f_z.jpg |
Just read all your pages and I must say that I am impressed with your build :hail: Very nice Camaro!
|
Is that the intake sticking out over the fender?
|
Quote:
I mentioned to MaxHarvard before that Holley had supplied a similar intake/ram to the 48hr Camaro build and Lingenfelter wound up using an alternate for hood clearance reasons. |
on the 48 hour camaro that i have researched they pulled the bad ass holley intake off and put on a stock intake
|
Confirmed last night, the hood doesn't fit... as much as I wanted it to, it just doesn't fit for crap. Even with removing the bracing on the hood, it wouldn't do any good.
Oh well... Anyone got a spare LS3 intake they want to sell me? |
that suck... it looked soo cool.
just get a 5" cowl! hahaha |
SLAM THE HOOD enough times itll fit!!!
that does suck as i was thinking of one for the Nova. |

Oh well, it's a great piece by holley, made really nice power and it looks totally awesome. I hate to see it go honestly :( |

Are you able to determine what clearance it would require?
Would you be able to use any other hoods available? Higher cowls are not ridiculous when they are there with a purpose... but they are not going to promote driveability/visibility in the twisties ala auto-x I guess it depends what the next intake can do. Sorry to hear the At-At Walker will probably be leaving the Blue Hour |
