Greg, I'm thinking we could take that car out for a spin here on the open roads this weekend and try our hand at DRIFTING in this weather!!!!!!!!

GregWeld 11-24-2011 06:57 PM

I did an exhaust on my sons new S4 -- so the Mustang and the Camaro had to come out of the shed and go up to the other garage... and YOU KNOW I couldn't resist taking her just a little "further".... Took Pierre with me -- he's still cleaning himself up... ZERO traction even though the ground was dry.... Worn out slicks that are stone cold have absolutely no grip. Just roll into 2nd gear at 30 MPH and it just lights 'em up. Put it away before the neighbors flooded the 911 line with calls.

GregWeld 12-29-2011 09:09 AM

Let's go racin' !!!

Sweeeeeet!! Looks like some new Hoo Hoo's.

Where might we be headed with those bad boys?

Sieg 12-29-2011 09:48 AM

You need to tidy that place up a bit........leaving un-used rubbers in plain sight? Seriously!

First up is RTTA in Texass.... Then RTTC...

++++++++++++++++++

I just wanted to have a spare set of wheels with tires mounted and ready to go... and the ones Charley sold me (on the car) were used up during the weekend at Thunderhill... so needed to replace the ones on the car.

++++++++++++++++++

Sieg! Good one!!

Track Junky 12-29-2011 10:18 AM

Awesome!! Hope one of those sets are A6's for the RTTX events. They'll heat up quicker.

GregWeld 12-29-2011 10:25 AM

All R6's -- this car will NEVER see an auto x course.... Road courses only. Auto X holds absolutely ZERO interest for me. Nothing wrong with those guys that like it - but I'm not interested in 30 seconds of seat time.

Going to the RTT"X" events is just a "trip" for me.... I'll work the events should they need/want me to - and hopefully get a couple laps around the big track for my efforts.

Listen to this guy. Autocross is my least favorite but still fun. You should definitely run the speed stop challenge. That's a blast.

Speed stop? Shiiiiit, can we involve a steering wheel please? :D

clill 12-30-2011 07:19 AM

Sweet.

Stuart Adams 12-30-2011 08:39 AM

I figured you would at least have a big flat screen TV instead of that boat anchor up in the corner.

monza 12-30-2011 09:36 AM

I haven't checked in for a while and this is my first thread to read,
dude you rule!! That looks like a fun car.

I'm pretty sure Todd's trying to reel Greg in on this one.

Nothing rolls better than a flat spotted Hoosier

Those tires are probably good for about 10 heat cycles before its time for a new set. It will take at least two laps before they've got enough heat in them to do their job.

You don't think G'dub will get electric blankies to keep them cozy and warm?

Just slap the plastic down and let 'er rip!

I did spend part of the day today looking at Renegade and Ikon Toter homes, stackers, and motor coaches at Sport Trucks in Chandler, AZ... :willy:

Flat screen is upstairs -- can't have that kind of crap down on the working floor! That "thing" you're looking at is an aluminum radiator "on end" that is a leaker... ( I don't do business with BeCool after the third times a charm routine). The boat anchor is outside the shop (for real)... I figured I might need a big heavy chunk of galvanized steel for something one day. Anything that doesn't rust - is outside "da shed".

When Charley is driving it - it's a "fun car" -- when I'm driving it - it's a helicopter rotor. :D

There ya go! I'll betcha they'd through in a set of tire warmers with a coach purchase. :unibrow:

I like the way you're sneaking up on those tire warmers.......buy a coach because it has a generator to run the warmers and a place to store them. :hail:

Can't wait to see how you acquire the 4-point jack system.

Build 100K?
Motor 25K?
To sit in it and drive through the streets of downtown Bellevue and watch peoples faces....Priceless.

Love the sound this car puts out:woot: :lateral:

Track Junky 12-30-2011 11:51 PM

Who's the guy with his arm out the window? That's a big no no

Thanks for posting the pic tho, I was about to go back a few pages to see what she looked like again but you saved me the trip.

clill 12-31-2011 06:13 AM

That is my idiot friend Pete. Pete is a instructor with a SCCA comp license. He didn't even realize he had his arm out the window and didn't even see the black flags....

GregWeld 12-31-2011 07:53 AM

Drugs will do that to a guy......

clill 12-31-2011 08:31 AM

Pete is kinda smart some of the time.

Not to mention FUN and INTERESTING and he can take a joke and dish one out.

Stuart Adams 01-01-2012 05:51 AM

Glad to see you enjoying the car. Having the trans.in their makes it a kick I'll bet.

Sieg 01-01-2012 07:08 AM

Greg - If you get a chance it would be nice to see some more detail photo's of your track pony.

Glad you stopped by to check it out Lenie!

Now... If I could just finish up that danged Camaro I could get the oil and tires changed and get her ready for RTTA...

Flash68 04-18-2012 12:30 AM

Since you're taking this mean little biatch to Thunderhill in less than 2 weeks you might as well watch this guy's line now that you're Bondurant trained and all.... :unibrow:

Vince@Meanstreets 04-18-2012 12:50 AM

ahhh if you run that line with no wing you'll end up in down town Willows most likely upside down. LOL

GregWeld 04-18-2012 06:52 AM

Why would he run A6's on a road course?

The faster Time Trial guys run A6'6 because they heat up faster and dont need to run the whole session to achieve the fastest lap times. They say A6's could be up tp 2 seconds faster than R6's due to the softer compound but they wont last the whole 20 minute session.

GregWeld 04-18-2012 07:32 AM

Okay -- that makes sense! Expensive - but makes sense!

I've experienced the cold tire/cold track lack of grip!

If you're going out for the first time -- how long do you give your tires to get some heat in them?

Vegas69 04-18-2012 07:41 AM

They don't call them superman tires for nothing. :unibrow:

I noticed how much downforce the wings add while driving the Formula Mazdas at Bondurant... IF you keep your speed up going thru a corner they were noticeable... the guys I was on track with couldn't figure that out...

GregWeld 04-18-2012 11:28 AM

No slow Camaro parking.....
