Every Cadillac lover should have a drop top 59. |

I'm not entirely sure.
I'm in the process of pulling the original engine as it was seized up. If it seems like I can get it running and driving with the stock drivetrain I will probably do that for now. If the engine is completely toast I might do a budget LS swap. |
Many thanks to Frank at The Driveshaft Shop!!!!!!
I received this bit of awesomeness today. 2 piece carbon fiber shaft, dual CV. Beautiful piece! Can't wait to get the car up on the rack so I can test fit it and get some more pictures. :) http://imageshack.us/a/img96/8297/driveshaft1.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img593/4563/driveshaft3.jpg |
Ive been following this build for the last year or so over on Pro-Touring.com, I'm Bad66Chevelle454.
I can't say it enough, this is still my all time favorite build. Just amazing the amount of thought and attention to detail you've put into this car. Not one spot on that car have you said "yah, that will do." Everything has been thought out and improved upon. And then you buy the 59 Eldorado. You're insane! But that car will be worth 100K when its fixed up. |

Oh wait your ARE putting a LS twin turbo motor in it :mock: Nice very nice!! |
Tim- Thanks, very nice of you to say that. I just feel like back when this car was made, no expense was spared. They just made the best car they could and put it out there. I feel like doing any less now would be doing the car a disservice.
As for the 59 (series 62 btw), it wasn't at all planned. Just a deal I couldn't pass up. Actually pretty stressed right now because I have waaaay to much stuff. Rick, yes, I am feeling a bit crazy right now!!! :-) |
That GMR will certainly do the trick! Nice solution!
I love it btw when someone says "that car will be worth a fortune when it's done"...... Yeah -- maybe --- but it cost TWO fortunes to build..... :knokwood: |

Should be the rest of the chrome (mostly interior stuff). Looks excellent! Now I have to remember how all this stuff goes back together

There's nothing like progress.
|
Jim it's only :G-Dub: you can't take it with you!! Any other progress?? I really need that LS 6 speed now??? You ready for some paint?? :hello:

Lol, Rick no other progress, the other heap is clogging up the lift until I get the engine back in it. Not ready for paint on this one yet but I do have a spare LS2 that's getting freshened up.......and a T56
Ravenworks- Haha, you are right, almost an exact match! I asked my GF what she thought about taking a paw for a key chain and she said no |

You aren't done with that 390 overhaul yet?:action-smiley-027:
That Chrome looks like a project in itself. |
Looking great, just in awe of this one!
|
I wonder what Jim is up to these days:headscratch:
 |

LOL, still waiting on the engine for this heap!
http://imageshack.us/a/img18/4766/y9cq.jpg No Brougham news except the wheels are being cut and I just had to spend $2500 to replace the drivers side sun visor I broke. :( |
Do you need a 390 for the 59? I have one...it's in my 62 Limo. Transmission as well.
|
Thanks but I'm at the tail end of a rebuild of the originals. Had I known what I know now (how much of a PITA the old stuff is) I probably would have done an LS swap.

That 57` is gonna be sweet, I just love those cars, I dream of a black one, lots of chrome, and Hot Rodded whitout it showing too much. And WOW 2500$ visor.. offf.. That hits!
I like the Stock old type motor that youre gonna use, but If you ever change motor in the 59` what about an 472/500, or an Northstar, instead of LS? :) To keep it "The Standard of the World" ;) |
Thanks.
I don't really plan to do any modifying of the 59. There are many LS based engines in new Cadillac's so that's how I can justify it. 472/500 is just, old and I considered Northstar but didn't think it would end up with enough low end torque to pull all this weight around (at least how I wanted it to be pulled around). |
More big chunks of aluminum getting diced up! They are 20x9 with the same backspacing front and rear. I had 5 made so there was a full size spare.

Great job on the wheels!!
I know I loved the ones Divers did for their caddy build --- never thought I'd see another caddy with one offs and here I've lived long enough to see TWO!! Who'd a thunk it??? The whole project is just awesome! |
Quote:
I bet for this build alone there are more than two sets of one off Caddy wheels:rolleyes:  |
It's all bitchin'. You gotta be happy with those wheels!
|
LOL, thanks guys!
