Fact. But just a warning. :rules:

Officer: Do you know how fast you were going?

Me: Maybe 70 or so? (more like 80)

Officer: Well you were behind me one minute and then the next thing I knew you were in front of me.

Me: Oh.

I think you guys should add a Nike swoosh to the truck ---- rather than racing stripes -- it might more accurately depict the "action".

LOL

Hit me up when in Philly!

I Could meet up with you around North East Philly around I-95. I saw your post on Ford Fe Forum on your Wild road trip. Great buy on the Ramp truck, was watching that one on EBay. I just picked up a 1965 F600 Ramp Truck in July that was sitting over 30 years, did a 800 mile trip to get it. Not road worthy as brake lines rotted and fuel lines, rust in tank also.

Let me know if interested, good luck!

I haven't slept in 2 days. :waveflag: I made it to Boston where DG picked me up and we drove to Portsmouth.
Then we drove to Portland and found what has to be the best brewery on the East Coast.:woot: :woot: Well at least for now.

And there we found another lost guy from the West Coast.:headscratch:

Well Massachusetts State Police know what state I'm in cuz they pulled me over twice so far for speeding. Of course they gave warnings both times since I am a straight shooter Californian. :trophy-1302:

Ok so these 3 pics in order tell pretty much tell the story of the day. :G-Dub:

Rolling up to the garage

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps60449559.jpg

Fired her up

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps0b7aee30.jpg

Drove a few miles and got gas.... then back to the garage :hitaxeonthehead:

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps3a4a9005.jpg

Throwout bearing was howling real good intermittently so I told them to throw that and a clutch in it ASAP and went back to rent a car (the same car I had earlier) and went to pick up Rob at Logan and resume the bar hopping up the coast until the next day....

Better now than later I figure..... :gitrdun:

Oh, and a special treat was seeing Matt Alcala touring in his band in the basement lounge of Thirsty Moose Taphouse in Portsmouth, NH. Really disappointed you didn't give us a heads up Matt.

This thread may break post count record here on Lat-g. There is going to be so much to write about and us all giving you a hard time.

waynieZ 01-17-2014 01:50 AM

Dang how did Matt beat you guy here?? It must be that private jet for the tour. :G-Dub:
I'm glad you guys found a good place to spend some time while you wait for the repairs to the truck. Are you going to make it to ABS to check out Jay's car?

68LS1 01-17-2014 04:14 AM

So exactly how far did you travel on day 1?

How many beers did you down? :goggles:

How long was this going to take?

fleet 01-17-2014 04:33 AM

Gotta give Matt credit though for being one of the few on here so busy livin his own life (instead of living vicariously through another members' thread), that he neglected to tell his fellow FErd dudes of his best coast victory tour.

:popcorn2:

:D

Dave/Rob here's another reccomedation for a stop in Philly. Can't vouch for the food but I can vouch for the beer! http://www.yardsbrewing.com/
Hopefully you guys get headed south today. I gotta work all weekend or I would head up there and meet you guys and have a few. Safe travels!

I'd say it's possible only because we may not make it home for awhile.

Yeah so far the delay wasn't a biggie... hopefully all goes well today and then we are on our way south. Weather is about as good as we could have hoped.

Not sure on Jay's deal.... our route is still not determined heading south from Maine... it's possible.

Well total travel in the truck for day 1 was about 8 miles. :lmao:

Today is the big day.

Beers? Well I'd have to say somewhere between 4 and 9. :peepwall:

The 15% "#1 Dad IPA" was a big hit last night.

Then three shop tours takes another day out of there - so now we're down to 6 days of driving for a 10 day trip... 5 days of driving that POS will have you sleep thru half of day 6 because you've had your arses handed to you... so now we're down to 5.5 days to make a 10 day trip...

4.5 days to make a 10 day trip.....

Not in a million years would I have thought this would happen with a 30 year old Ford that you paid $1000 for.....

I say enjoy the journey and if it leaves you stranded in Oklahoma, crush it and fly home. I'm sure there is a good Chevy truck you could by somewhere near San Francisco. :D

Payton King 01-17-2014 01:05 PM

Just got a text from Dave

They are about to leave the garage and go get Ron's car. Thought they were going to be here in Charlotte Sunday night, that has moved to Monday night. I am guessing mid-day Tuesday myself.

I like the way you roll......... aut caesar aut nihil......latin phrase..... I remember when I was in college and drove in a low 12 second galant vr4 and I was like I want one, although I only had to go half as far for that Dsm I found 3 days after that ride I took in the vr4. Mine wasnt ever low 12sec car but it was my daily and ran a 12.6 on pump after all the mods Your making the right choice have fun and besafe

Well there was potentially a major hole blown in my calculations not too long ago when I found out the Big Rig has a 17 gallon tank............:lmao:

As best as I can tell from the text I just got. Our two heros are hunkered down in a bar still in Portland Maine. Must of had a really hard time loading the Camaro.LOL

I think I get it now, this just a really amusing way to go long distance bar hopping.

Sieg 01-17-2014 09:18 PM

Silly me, I was focused on miles per gallon........appears the question is what is the miles between beer stops going to be on this journey? Will it be Gas-Beer-Beer-Gas or Beer-Gas-Gas-Beer? :headscratch:

Flash68 01-17-2014 10:42 PM

Well it was a long but mildly successful day. Positive net yardage is the name of the game.

As the truck was getting the new clutch finished up in NH, we all and made our up to Maine to see Jake at Jake's Rod Shop and get Ron's 68 shell ready to pick up later in the day when the truck was ready. Ron had to fly back to Socal this afternoon so after we wrapped up there and had a killer lunch with Jake and his guys at the Gastropub. Caramel glazed bacon donuts were a treat.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps5258241f.jpg

We then made our way back to NH to get the truck. On our way we stopped at a gas station I wish we had in California.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psb377c558.jpg

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps03650656.jpg

And this picture adequately describes the scene once we got back to the truck.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps7a04e5c8.jpg

Got the sucker loaded up and after a quick test drive we made our way back to Maine and to Jake's.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...psef32c1b2.jpg

Jake was a huge help and let us use his shop and tools to and helped us get the junker Camaro loaded up. Glad Rob is here to wash the windows

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps8fcfe912.jpg

Got back to the best damn brewery in Portland and celebrated a little victory. We recommend the gingerbread and bacon

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps7efadc20.jpg

And she's all parked and good to go for the night. The Hampton Inn downtown here only has valet and I told them no way in Hell some 20 year old punk is laying a hand on Betsy. So we parked on the street.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps3038fc0d.jpg

The numbers.... 110 miles today in the truck. We hope to go 485 miles tmrw. :gitrdun:

The words.... cars, trucks, good beer, good food.

Ron in SoCal 01-17-2014 11:22 PM

118 miles in 2 days, smashing it guys

At least day 2 there was more miles than beers (I hope)

3400 miles. No overdrive. A 40 year old truck none of us have ever seen before. Probably 8 mpg. What's not to like?

Wish us luck. :popcorn2:

3400 / 59 = 57.6271186 Days!

At this point I'm not sure they can maintain that 59 mile a day average.

There appears to be the potential for set-backs associated with afternoon yeast infections.

fleet 01-18-2014 06:49 AM

Yeahbutt these 118 miles have been 'quality' miles. :unibrow:

Plus, I'm gonna add all of Flash's rent-a (pull over son :warning:) car miles to the total.

Then it looks decent.

:hello:
