Here are some more pictures of the recent paint. Pulled the car out of the booth and took the tape off. Starting to look very sharp.

That has to be a nice sense of accomplishment!
Car is looking very good keep the pedal down! |
Just wrapped up the hood and cowl today. Extended the stripes from the hood to the cowl took a lot of time and attention to detail, but I think it came out pretty well. Took a couple of quick pictures inside the paint booth, but the fluorescent lights messed with the camera color a little bit. I'll get some better pictures soon.

The stripe work on this car is great. Your attention to detail is really paying off in this area. The color choices are nice as well.

Hey ya'll,
Been working on the dash. The goal was to match up the indentations from the console and let them flow up into the dash, as if it was made like that from the factory. Also installing a double DIN audio/navigation system from Alpine. Using the circle-shaped billet vents, so that all the air vents are the same shape throughout the car, as opposed to the ugly rectangle air vent in the center dash. I really think the combination of the console and dash bring the car together. You can see the side ridges from the console flow up into the dash on both sides. http://i.imgur.com/bCagAa2h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jor2MCph.jpg http://i.imgur.com/r0sLfwMh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yLdLuKFh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7iF2F30h.jpg Have some more body work to do to smooth things out. Also plan on installing a Dakota Digital AC control unit under the push-button start. That way everything is symmetric and in place, nice and neat. |
Loving all the work on the dash! Looking good
|
Pretty interesting, starting to look really good
|
I like the chassis and the engine you guys went with!
Looked up your site - I have been through Todd a few times - have a lot of family that went to App State in Boone. |
graphic layout is killer!

Hey ya'll,
Finished up the dash today. Created the cut-out for the Dakota Digital AC unit. It will be vertically mounted below the push-button start. Took extra time to make sure the Dakota Digital cut-out was of the same style as the push-button start and cigarette lighter. Recessed into the dash and vertical, facing the driver. http://i.imgur.com/GbfuZH8h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HnR5YzUh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/uCWxXAZh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/t0tuWf1h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tJMfbKTh.jpg |
Looking awesome and very well done! What is the oval\vertical setup by the ignition and lighter area?

Hey ya'll,
Been working hard on the 2010 Camaro console. I had to move the shifter cut-out up about 1.5" and some some custom fiberglass work. Removed the late-model gauge cluster that only worked on the new Camaro and replaced it with two 2-1/16" gauges from NVU; these gauges are in the 1969 Series that also matches the speedometer and tachometer in the dash. It really brings the interior together. Also have a billet shifter ring from Lokar that fits nicely into the console. Below that is the power window buttons. They're in the retro-style from Nu-relics. Walking a fine-line between modern and retro requires a lot of customized work, but I think it's really coming out great. http://i.imgur.com/cpIwPc1h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wJpMxJLh.jpg |
Hey guys,
This week I'm working on all of the wiring for Frostbite. It's pretty sophisticated with a lot of components working together.
|
WOW
Im really excited to see how the dash and the console turn out. Wish I had those fab skills |
Hey ya'll,
Been working on the wiring this week. Wanted to share some more pictures with you. Since we used the 2010 Camaro console, we ended up using the 2010 Camaro parking brake as well that integrates nicely with the console. http://i.imgur.com/E7Hp9jgh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JspWTyCh.jpg We decided to go with the II Much vents. You can see the underside here. http://i.imgur.com/G97rskJh.jpg Here's a view of the II Much vents from inside the trunk. http://i.imgur.com/ykeri3oh.jpg Put a healthy dose of Dynamat everywhere to reduce all the road noise. http://i.imgur.com/2qDTQjHh.jpg I put all of the wiring behind the passenger seat. This project will not have any rear seats, but instead will have a pair of storage containers in the rear. This way you can service the wiring easily from inside one of the storage containers. We're using the American Autowire harness and Dakota Digital headlight and radiator fan control units. Also mounted the power locks, push button start, and RFID units back here as well. http://i.imgur.com/IOpiQUbh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/RzliRWuh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/46oTf8zh.jpg We're using the Optima batteries and made a custom CNC bracket to hold it in place in the trunk. Very clean clamp system to hold it on the base instead of holding it from the top. http://i.imgur.com/MbERClzh.jpg Just starting to wire up some things inside the dash as well. http://i.imgur.com/gylvga8h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hHTOjwEh.jpg You can see how the new, modern dash came out once I painted it. It will flow very nicely with the 2010 Camaro console. http://i.imgur.com/qHIR7Aqh.jpg |
Wow, it's looking great.
|
Are you doing all this work by yourself or do you have help? The pace of this build is incredible and the quality seems great too.
Don |
its me and my son-in-law for the most part, i have one part time guy that gets a few hours a week. We normally work on two at a time but for the last few months we have been on this car only. Thanks for all the compliments also.

Hey ya'll,
Got some more great updates for you. Getting more and more of the wiring done and starting on the assembly as well. http://i.imgur.com/gp4wNllh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Et2aPoVh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pmA53DHh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7KVBV0zh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6C2Z9nMh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6KByMCkh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Z8x1f46h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1hzQpOQh.jpg |

Nice job Eugene!

Right now I'm just working through all of the car stereo. We have an entire Alpine system that's going in.
Should be awesome when it's all put together. |
Hey ya'll,
I got some more updates today. The wiring is pretty much done, minus the battery cables which should be finished next week. About ready to start this car up for the first time and hear it purr. I'll be sure to get a video for you guys. Should be awesome. Finished installing the Alpine sound and navigation system. It has some serious components with 3 amps producing about 3000W all together. Put the doors back on today. Was happy to see everything lined up perfectly and didn't require any adjustments. Put the trunk on as well while I'm finishing up the custom spoiler. http://i.imgur.com/Nx1HaZOh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/B8O3LZeh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/C2r7SCsh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/URkMnIrh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NJD44XFh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HRLPz0Gh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ii8Hk7Kh.jpg |
Sits very nice.
What are the door harness boots from? |
They came from nu-relics as part of the kit

Hey yall,
Just finished up all of the wiring and testing it all. Very cool how it's working off RFID when you approach the car and unlocks it. The dome light gradually comes on as you open and close the doors. The headlights automatically turn no and off depending if it's dark outside. You would think you're driving a brand new BMW with all the electronic features in this car! I also just finished up the windshield and side glass in the car. The windshield and rear glass is over-sized and I turned it into a flush mount, just like you would find on a new car. I put dynamat and dynaliner all throughout the interior of the car, even inside the doors. When you knock on the steel, it sounds very solid. I know this thing is going to drive and be quiet just like a new car. OK maybe I'm just kidding. We all know that GM LSX454 and 3" Borla exhaust is going to light up when you get on the gas! I also got the headliner installed. Was happy that went very smooth with no issues. Created a sub enclosure for the two 10" Alpine subs. Got a little bit creative and put the Pontiac logo as the bass reflex port. I'll put a red LED back there so it glows :) One last little touch is that I put a steel mesh behind the bass reflex port on the sub enclosure as well as the inlets on the quarter panels, which cool the rear brakes. I'll be putting the fenders on very soon and starting on the upholstery as well. Here are some pictures. http://i.imgur.com/0YAAiIch.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qEuJgvyh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/7xDx6Djh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/alCGeRgh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9ExfApHh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bf72tPMh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/klYelMkh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NzsJRKFh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AgiWvnjh.jpg |
When you said you put dynamat INSIDE the door --- I take it you mean on the door skin....
Take it off while you still can. I did this once -- big mistake. When the sun hits that metal it gets hot as hell -- and then the dynamat would let go - drop onto the glass if it was down... and well --- yeah -- that was a big mistake. |
There is none on the door skin, I do intend on putting it on the inside of the door behind the door panel, but now you have me worried about what I put on the roof of the car. If it lets go it will push down the headliner. Have you ever had it turn loose from the roof, or was I just dumb for putting it there to begin with. Please tell me it's gonna stay, even if you don't believe it, haha.
|
I've never put it on the roof skin.... Maybe someone else has and will chime in.
|
Been lurking and watching this build .... very nice!
Could you expand on the over sized glass? Was it a special order and how did you flush it? Anyway, very nice build! :trophy-1302: Michael |
I just used dynaliner on my roof skin. Didn't want to chance it. I wouldn't worry about it much as long as you made sure you laid it nice and clean. As far as the doors go i used strips of dynamat. I placed them anywhere that there was dip if that makes sense. I then dynalined my panels. I didn't want to lay a sheet on my doors in case i need to access my window.
I used dynamat as a vibration reducer and dynaliner as a heat barier. Look at my thread and you will see what i did to my panels. post 143 https://lateral-g.net/forums/show...ght=icemanrd19 |
